QUOTE(monsta @ May 13 2008, 10:51 PM) Yes they do. Especially when they talk in the 3rd person most of the time. No way! Troy was horrible! he had a friend with him and his agent, and he had his friend go up to a girl and ask for her # while signing, ignoring the fans while doing this!

LenDale and someone walking around with him when I met him at Training Camp. So he pretty much ignored all of the fans.

Yeah a lot of guys we have in are pretty boring...Hawk is great though he was making fun of Brady Quinn during our private signing, since his wife was there with the rest of Quinn's family. Charlie Frye is another weenie, and another QB...and Carson Palmer only does private signings now! ($275 per signature)

I have to say the only 2 professional atheletes I have met, as pros. Met a few when they were in college at Oklahoma State Ventura being the one, is incredibly nice.
But back to the topic at hand. When the Hornets were in OKC for the 2 years. We went to the mall on the day before they played the Heat. Shaq, D-Wade had this massive following of people just staring at him. He looked like a monster amongst the people. The crazy thing, Alonzo Morning was standing by the elevator, with absolutley no one around him. My son and I went up to him, said hi, and thanked him for his time. Was really nice. Didn't feel like it was the right time to ask for an autograph, since they weren't at autograph signings, after a game, or something like that. They were out being real people, and I would hate it if I had to deal with that, so I refuse to do that to them.

Nicest- Adrian Peterson. I'm sure some here have read the thread where I posted this, but I have to say it again. Adrian Peterson lives in my neighborhood, a couple houses down. I decided to go trick or treating on Halloween for 30 minutes or so. My brother and I went to his house after a couple others around our house. We expected his brother to open the door or for the lights to be totally shut off. When we rang the door bell, to our surprise the man himself, Adrian Peterson, opened the door. Man, he seems tall in person! My brother and I chat with him for a little bit and he hands out signed pictures (slightly bigger than 8 by 10s) to us and a couple other people. He also signed one of my cards!
He was just so down to earth, especially for such a star!! Not only that but he told us to come back for candy, since he had run out. We did after about 30 minutes, and he kept his word. So Halloween ended, with my bro and I getting signed pics, a signed card, and candy from Adrian Peterson.
Haha, sorry for the long read but it was SWEET!
Rudest- I've only gone to a few player signings and games for in person autos, but I haven't really had a rude encounter yet. The rudest would be Soriano saying he'd sign in a few but instead went to the dugout and ignored us. Not that much of a big deal though.

There's a tie for the nicest athlete I've ever met..the first has to be Jeremy Roenick, hands down. I met him for the first time at a Kings game this year, I was watching him warm up near the away bench and I was just sitting there, cheering him on; while everyone else booed him (probably for the time he spent in LA); and he seemed really glad that he had fans there. When I walked over to the tunnel to see him off before the game started, he told me to hand him the jersey I had on, and he gave me an autograph and told me to watch him during the game! After he got an assist on his first goal, he gave his usual fist pump, and skated over to the side of the ice I was sitting on, pointed at me and gave me a little wink. After the game, the Sharks ended up losing--and I got over to the tunnel and wished the Sharks well. Roenick came by and thanked me for being such an enthusiastic fan, and handed me his stick and told me "I'll sign it for you the next time you see me." JR's easily one of my favorite hockey players now.
The other, is Patrick Willis. I went to a 49ers training camp one day, and decided not to badger the players and ask for their autographs as they went home for the day, so I sat on a bench waiting for my ride. Patrick walked over to my bench, and saw that I was wearing a 52 Willis jersey, and asked me why I didn't want an autograph, and I just told him that I didn't feel like taking up his time. He laughed, got out a pen, and gave me an autograph. He was such a nice person to talk to, so humble and kind--what all athletes should be, grateful for their fans.
Sorry to rant guys..haha.

AWESOME story about Jeremy Roenick. I was a fan of his during his Blackhawks days. He was actually the first hockey player I ever liked. It's great to hear how cool he is.
