1991 Upper Deck Football Box
Finally decided to go for UD's first football set. Was on Steel City Collectibles for I think 15. 36 packs and 12 cards per.
Star Rookies
Found on average just about 1 rookie per pack.
Eric Bieniemy, Jarrod Bunch, Rob Carpenter, Aaron Craver x3, Mike Croel, Mike Dumas, Favre! x2, Alvin Harper x2, Greg Lewis x2, Lyght x2, Marinovich x2, Maryland, Dan McGwire, H. Moore, Browning Nagle, Bruce Pickens, Mike Pritchard, Stanley Richard, Eric Swann, E. Turner x2, Watters, Chuck Webb x2, Harvey Williams, Chris Zorich
Need 4 more, nobody big.
Inserts
Team MVP
Got 30 of these, just fewer than the rookies. Some of the notables: T. Thomas x2, Emmitt, Marino, Woodson, Rice, Rison x3
Football Heroes
All featuring Montana. Pulled 5 in total, 2 doubles
Holograms
I pulled 7. All of them, Thurman. LOL
There's also some Season Leaders, found 3 of the 6.
Not bad. It's odd to find holos of all the same guy, considering UD was already in year 3 after already having 2 baseball releases and a hockey. I'd expect collation issues like that for 89. I think I'm gonna open a high series box instead of getting a set. Might be picking that up soon. And we'll see what I report on next.

Sanders Shining Moments Only missing a few. Notables: AFC Championship Game x2, Faulk, Elway, Galloway, Moon, Rice, Martin
Parallels
Dot Matrix Anthony Miller, Scott Mitchell
Was pretty enjoyable. I will have another that should be even more enjoyable coming up in the future. Funny how couple times I got the same Moments cards back-to-back. Thinking if I will pursue the set, got more dubs than I thought and series 2 is bit more pricey. Good looking rookie design. Have to see which football will be next.

1991 Upper Deck Football High Series Box
Attempt to knock out some high cards and needs from the other break. At least I get a box bottom. 36 packs and 12 cards per. Before I begin, found something interesting. Usually when I open boxes, I don't just open one stack and move on to the next. I just take one from one stack, one from another etc. This time I decided to open them by the stack, went counterclockwise. I don't know if this was typical of products back then but I noticed a pattern by the 2nd pack. So from the 1st pack, this was the layout of the cards: card 1 was number 1-100, the 2nd was 101-200 and so on for the first 7 cards. The rest of the cards followed a consecutive number sequence, either in ascending or descending order. 2-126-250-397-436-594-627-53-52-51-50-49. In the rest of the packs of the stack, the first 7 cards went in ascending or descending order from the last. In my case: down, up, up, down, up, down, down. And everytime except once, those final 5 cards in every 3 packs in a stack followed this pattern: #1-100, 400s, 400s. Couple times in a stack you were shorted a card and also you may have had an extra one, the ones with the hologram. The final pack of the first stack didn't follow suit. It seemed like the bottom pack should've been on top. The pattern didn't carry on from one stack to another. After the first stack, there were a few inconsistencies here and there. Like the top pack was out of pattern from the rest underneath. But still you can sense a pattern throughout for the most part. It was interesting to go through this. So from doing a high series break from their first basketball and hockey, I was expecting to get maybe 4 high series in each pack. This would be just 2.
Star Rookies
I was able to find all of them. Most likely a guarantee for a high series box. Fewer doubles, for rookies at least lol. The 4 I needed were Charles McRae, Wesley Carroll, Randal Hill & Nick Bell. Found doubles of Eric Bieniemy, Carroll, Mike Dumas & Lyght
Rookie Force
Exclusive to high series, around 50 of them. Dan McGwire, James Joseph x2, Harvey Williams, Browning Nagle, Alfred Williams, Leonard Russell, John Flannery, Nick Bell, William Thomas, Wesley Carroll, Darren Lewis, Bruce Pickens, Lyght, Favre!, Jake Reed
Found other rookie cards but only couple worth mentioning: Bryce Paup & Jeff Feagles
Inserts
Team MVP
Had most of them from last break. Now have them all. With the last cards in the pack being mostly 400s, you'll get quite a few of these. There was only one not found in this box - Dennis Byrd. I did find doubles of mostly good ones - Rison, Thurman, Emmitt, Neal Anderson, Esiason, Metcalf, Sterling Sharpe, DeBerg, Albert Bentley
Football Heroes
Namath is the subject for the high series. I only pulled 2, and they were the same. FH10 At least the box bottom was different.
Arch Rivals
Exclusive to high series. Vencie Glenn/Deion Sanders, Robert Delpino/Tim McDonald
Holograms
Hooray. None were Thurman! M. Allen, James Brooks x2, Earnest Byner x2
Found more Season Leaders this time, 5 of the 6. Now have them all.
I'll end up getting the high series set sometime but I liked this break. It was interesting. And I also found out how the high series cards and some of the low ones have a different hologram sticker from the low series packs lol. Coming up next will be more football or hockey.

1989 Topps Football Box
36 packs and 15 cards per. 1000 Yard Club insert and one gum stained card back in each pack. Been sooo long since I've opened packs with gum in them. Felt kinda good. Would I hit any good rookies with that dreaded gum?
Rookies
Super Rookie
Irvin x3, Thurman, Spielman, Ickey Woods, John Stephens x3, Erik McMillan x2, Hasty, Aundray Bruce x2, Mark Rypien, Jamie Morris x2, Chip Lohmiller
Other notable rookies - Tim Brown x2, Bruce Matthews x2, Eric Allen, Woodson x2, Heyward x2, Carrier x2, Beuerlein x3, Sterling Sharpe, Chris Chandler x2, Jumbo Elliott x3, Anthony Miller, Simon Fletcher x4, Carl Lee x2, Vaughan Johnson, Mark Collins x2
Inserts
1000 Yard Club
Missing 2. Notables - Rice, Dickerson x2, Herschel, Toon x2, Curt Warner x2
Nice little....I mean big....break. Got just over 300 of the cards. There are actually 2 Tim Brown rookies in this, turns out I've had the other one already as well as 1 of the 2 inserts I wasn't able to pull. Not familiar with some of the RB and WR from that era that were expendable or had their moments but it was wholesome. I would've rather busted the Score but this will do. Hopefully I'll find the traded set soon and cheap. Even without Aikman and Sanders, the box can be worth it. Up next, maybe hockey finally.

Well I was going through a box of 92/93 OPC Premier Hockey.
36 packs and 8 cards per. An insert in each pack. I liked this product because it was a small set, under 150 cards. I didn't look much at the checklist. Along with weak rookies featured, even the base subjects were kind of weak. Not even halfway through the box I decided to stop. Don't care to put together the set. But anyway I'll report on some of what was pulled.
Rookies
Guerin x2, Hamrlik, Straka, Nylander, Lang x2, Kovalenko, Smehlik, Hebert Petrov, Korolev
Inserts
Star Performers
Roenick, Ferraro x2, LaFontaine, Gilmore, Sakic, Roberts x2, D. Hunter, Richer, Messier, Savard, Ranford, Bure
Top Rookies
Roussel
I do like the card design but the checklist is a bit of a letdown. Pretty much the top stars were featured only as an insert. So to conclude, soon there will be some 2020 football. And another surprise break to come.
