Picked up some unopened packs of 1998 EX-2001 baseball. Growing up, this was one of my favorite sets, and it remains a nostalgic favorite of mine to this day. Decided to build a set, and I'm about 75% done.

I'm not sure how hard these are to pull, but what an awesome feeling it was to slide this one out of a pack!

I have no idea about baseball, but I know in basketball 90's numbered parallels even for common players can pull in a truckload.

Do you recall if you pulled any of these parallels? Wonder if they are like case hits, per-box hits, or what. Also, if you could dig them up I could probably use some base!

I think this Thome wouldn't do too bad if I were to put it up for sale! But I'm going to admire it in my collection for a while, I think.

what will probablt happen is I will go open the door to the subvault, look at all the boxes and wonde rwhich one may house 98 skybox.. find a suspect box, open it and discover hours of joy from whatever I find that wont be what you want and is probably completely a waste of time.. or Ill open the door look at it all and say..

and close the door and go back upstairs

I say you open the vault and show us what is inside, regardless :D I'm sure curious, even if its not 98 E-X. But maybe the E-X will be in front :)

This is one of the reasons I quit buying. It is fun to build sets, but then they end up in a binder or box in a vault not really getting looked at taking up too much space. I have a pile of stuff from the 90s, that is probably more like firestarting cardboard than anything else. laugh.gif

Those were some sharp looking cards though, I remember seeing them and thinking they were cool looking. If I remember correctly though those packs were pricey, want to say $3-4 and I don't even remember if there were any hits (autos/gu) in those boxes.

I loved that EX stuff. I bought a bunch of the basketball (of course) and remember pulling a Grant Hill BASE that booked for like $20. Absurd. Of course I held onto it and it books for probably 50 cents today LOL.

Devaluation s.ucks! But, that also means I could pick up a lot of 50+ cards no dupes for $6 delivered. biggrin.gif

Ok, thanks. Not that I care about book value at all, but these 90's parallels of semi-stars/stars often sell way over 'book'...funny because some cards I own sell for 10% - 25% book. For example a Thome 2000 EX Essential went for around $110 recently.

I still think they are super sharp! Yeah, only 2 cards per pack though, its pricey per card. By the way these cards are all acetate, not cardboard biggrin.gif

se I told ya.

got out the box that I guess would've had 1990-2001 stuff I saved.

Had all the old binders from card shows and a bunch of 100 and 200 vcount boxes.

spent the last 3 days pouring thru binders

found a bunch of jeter rookies and others from that time period but no 98 skybox yet
