The Topps Company has announced that it has signed an exclusive trading card deal with New York Mets Superstar David Wright.
The deal grants New York City-based Topps exclusive rights within the Major League Baseball trading card category for autographed
cards, memorabilia cards, insert cards and Wright's image on packaging and advertising.
"I'm honored and humbled to be a part of the Topps family on an exclusive basis," said Wright. "It's truly
exciting to be partnering up with a quality company that has the history of Topps."
Wright, the National League's starting third baseman at this year's All-Star Game, currently ranks in the Top 10 in three
National League offensive categories – Homeruns, RBI's and Slugging percentage. The Mets, which are fueled by a number of
Wright's team-leading offensive stats including batting average, runs and hits, sit atop the National League East with an
11.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves.
"At the age of 23, David is already one of the marquee players in the game," said Warren Friss, General Manager
of Sports, Topps. "Topps is thrilled to be working with David and we look forward to a long-term partnership."
David Wright autographed and game-used memorabilia cards are currently some of the most collectible and valuable cards in
the market. Wright's autographed cards will appear in the upcoming 2006 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball product due to ship
on August 8th. Wright's image along with Albert Pujols and David Ortiz will also highlight boxes of the third installment
of 2006 Topps Baseball Cards - Updates & Highlights. Photos of Wright from the 2006 All-Star Game and Homerun Derby will
appear in the product, which hits store shelves nationwide November 15th.
