I'm pleased to announce that a system for sending
Pending Transactions Summary e-mails is now live.
Once per week, all members with one or more pending transactions will receive an e-mail that summarizes all of their pending transactions. The e-mail also provides links to update each of those transactions (as their status changes) as well as a reminder to frequently visit the My Transactions section of the Collector Zone to manage all of their transactions.
An example of this e-mail has been attached.
We trust that this change will provide a valuable service to our members by simply helping to keep track of their pending transactions and encouraging timely updates to transactions.

Soon. I just needed to take a number of transaction-related changes live before moving to a new project.

This week's e-mails have been sent and, based on activity so far, they appear to be working. Members are encouraged to let me know if they see any inaccurate details in their summary, don't receive the summary even though they have at least one pending transaction or receive more than one copy of the e-mail.
Thanks,
-Bob

I thought that was a new thing when I got one. It will help immensely when people have been on vacation and they see an email listing transactions that need their attention.

Hi Bob,
I think that this is a great idea. The only thing is that today I received 3 of the exact same emails from this. Last time I only got one, so I'm not sure what happened this time. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thanks for the information. We'll review the code and attempt to determine what might cause that to happen.

No. However, they are now "turned off" for you because I simply moved your pending transaction to the Failed Transactions forum since the other member continues to ignore requests to update the status of that transaction.

The one on Tuesday of last week was part of the test set that only went to Collector Zone Team members and the one on Wednesday was the first of these e-mails.
The good news is that 3 seems to be the magic number that everyone received. Therefore, it should be easier to find and correct.
Again, I apologize for the duplicate e-mails.

Sounds like a great idea. Only thing is I received 3 emails today for a transaction that is almost two years old. not sure whatever happened to the other guy I made the trade with, but he is not around. Is there anyway to get this old transaction closed? I don't want to get 3 emails a week for something I cannot control.
Thanks,
John

John,
I went ahead and moved your pending transaction to the Failed Transactions forum since the other member continues to ignore requests to update the status of that transaction.

The system actually has a built-in "irritation factor" which is currently set to 3. The irritation factor is used to assist in encouraging members to update their transactions in order to stop getting e-mails while avoiding causing so much frustration that they stop visiting the site.
