It is discouraged!

I see a lot of people bumping marketplace and trading threads lately. This type of uncreativeness is discouraged on this site.

Team members will delete bumps to threads or "ttt" added to threads!

Every thread appears on everyone members board until it is read or ignored! You "bumping" it ot "ttt" ing it only causes members to become irritated with you!

Please extend everyone the courtesy we extend you by not attempting to bump your thread!

Thank You!

Good topic. It gets especially annoying when a member 'bumps' the topic after only an hour or two.

Bump.

Just kidding.

For real. Chill out with the TTT stuff.

especially like when cody said after they do it after a few hours. I don't mind seeing bumps though after a day or 2.

I will often move a thread up if its been 12 hours or so...once in the morning and another in the evening. Otherwise, after its been a day or more

That's what everyone should do. I try to bump them after a couple of days...
dviv17
I'll usually do it at least 10 hours, I think it is really discourteous to do it after an hour or in some people's cases, a few minutes. rolleyes.gif
artyman60
I tend to bump threads after a few days or weeks depending which ones and usually its just the ones for the guys im looking to trade for or trade reasons
HOFerAutoCollector
I see a couple of people that post the same threads over and over and over again. Why? Its pointless and takes up space. Why not just bump the thread you already made. If you have posted the same thing 5 times and none got replies...posting it AGAIN isnt going to help much. Its not the post, its the content.
coltsfan23
I try to bump some of my threads after a few days. It does get annoying when it is only after an hour or two.
trot2millah
Idk how this works, but in other forums I have seen a "bump" option, where no post is added, but the topic moves to the top....if there was some way we could limit this option (like once every 6 hours or so) it would be a good idea in my opinion.
bostonbruinsandceltics
i know i have bumped after 4 or 5 hours a few times, i will start doing it less.
fightingirishjd8
yea same here i realize i do it constantly ill do it after mabey 8-10 hrs like many of you say you do
Tromni
The preferred method is if after a couple days you'd like members to take a fresh look, you write a simple and polite post to that effect.

For example,

"I've still got that Papelbon auto for trade if anyone is interested"

or "I still need these cards for my Donruss Elite set, can anyone help?"

All it takes is 15 seconds of courtesy.
hornsfan92
I can understand how bumping posts is annoying, but its also very useful and can make sense. I try to bump my post every 4-5 hours so other members can read it. Most members just hit the new posts button and see whats on the first or second page. I know some people have work during the day, and others aren't avaliable at night, so when im trying to find something or sell something, I try to make it avaliable to everyone. It is very annoying when you bump a post every hour or so, but i feel it is ok every 4 or 5 hours. Thanks
hodee5
I've given a shameless bump if my thread has dropped to page 2....maybe this will give me a kick in the pants to scan some more cards! Happy posting, Jeff

I bumped up a post after a day or so and just because I didnt write a pointless message and put Up to the Top or whatever I got yelled at. Makes more sense to me to bump a post up instead of recreating a new post everytime but to each his own. Also if people are going to get scolded for bumping, perhaps we can stop certain membres from having 4+ posts in a row on one page. To me this is worse than bumping when you could just have one or two combined posts.

I would rather see one of these posts any day than 'ttt' or 'bump'. Bumps and ttts just get annoying. In my opinion, 'ttts' and 'bumps' (rather than at least trying to post a sentence) show impatience and maybe even laziness.

And, a topic from Bob on 'ttt':

To the trash
Iplayfootball_90
I know when I use to bump threads, I'd do so by typing something like "These are still available" or "Anyone need these?", stuff like that. They aren't but maybe a second longer to type than "bump" and "ttt".

If you get annoyed at someone for doing .... ttt or To the top instead of typing these are still for trade, still looking to make some deals, or anything else? then you definetly have some issues. People don't bump up a post for you to read their bump post, its to read the main post. I guess my morse code bumps ... ... . . . ... just wont cut it anymore. wink.gif

hmmm, wonder if that means i should kill the in accordance with the prophecy thread... hehehehehehehehe devil.gif devil.gif devil.gif

Agreed.

This is the most ridiculous rule I've heard on here. So instead of just having one thread for all of your stuff, we need to create an entire new thread everyday? And a thread falls to page three within an hour. Create a new thread?

I'll bump my posts if I want, thank you very much. And a simple "TTT" will work just fine. No point in typing a sentence repeating exactly what you have in the original post.
dviv17
Yeah, I kind of think this is just a pet peeve of Bob's and some people are being kind of brown nosers. It only bothers me when people do it after an hour or two or if its still at the top.

I heard no complaints of it until Bob starting sharing his distaste for it.

It is either a yes or no..

Brown Nosers? Pet Peeves? Excuse me?

Last time I checked Bob is the CEO not dviv17 Please share any additional news I havent read!

I agree that the TTT needs to go, but why cant you just think of something to say to move it up. I always go for the "back up for some more looks" or "anyone else interested" tactics. I HATE when people create the same thread repeatedly with the same exact info in it. Just move the same one back up and eliminate the unnecessary clutter.

And this my friend is called ANARCHY!

So you think rules or guidelines shouldnt be followed, and apparently you are not going to comply with the rules or guidelines set forth by TCC?

See brother, your inability to play by the rules is what gets you in hot water! Instead of saying boldly "ill bump posts if I want" maybe you should work to change things you cannot accept or accept things you cannot change!

Remember please that your PAGE 3.. maybe someone elses Page 1 or Page 14 for all that matters.

The page view for view new posts is qualified by user not for all!

I take the time at least twice a day to page down through all the posts! It is part of what a team member is supposed to do!

and yes sometimes i get really tired of seeing the same marketplace or trading threads posted 16 times! I shoot a polite PM to those people and say once is enough! Thank you!

If your post doesnt attract any interest then, well maybe, no one is interested! Did you ever consider that? I do?

No Steve, you've read all the news! laugh.gif

I know Bob is in charge of the site, I was just saying no one really showed any distaste for ttt or bumps until he posted his dislike for them.

Therefore, my reason for thinking some people started to complain just because of what Bob posted.

Why are posts that only consist of the following image OK but a simple "TTT" to help with trading is not:

I've always had a distaste for it, but I never said anything about it because I knew I'd get in an argument with people if I said anything about it. So I've just kept it inside until now. I waited until someone that pretty much doesn't get yelled at posted about it and Bob is that person. I'm in no way "brown nosing", but I'll admit, I didn't have the gut to say anything about it because I was worried about what people would say about it.
crazygood
And last but not least, I shall play by the rules. Just felt like sharing my disagreement. Obviously that is looked down upon here.
stlbaseball15
To have respect for the rules you must first make the rules respectable.

This is a stupid rule. Who cares if something gets bumped? Mary and Joeseph, some people have too much time.

I bump my thread once a day, maybe twice, but thats because my list always falls pages back, since no one replies to them, they just pm me....

I mean I don't understand what the fuss is about, isn't this a trade site? I would understand if someone "bumped" "ttt" "^^^" within unreasonable time frame. But this only shows that they are serious traders out there wanting to trade, personally i do it when it disappears from the fist page, honestly does anyone surf through pages 2 3 4 ....., i don't do it regularly and when i do reply to one of those they never reply back b/c it's forgotten. This probably is the 3rd busiest site i visit and as it gets more and more traffic y'all need to lax on bumping unless those that are bumping threads for fun of it.

maybe we should have a thread to ask for permission to bump?

I think one of the main complains is one someone 'ttt's or 'bumps' within only a few hours of posting the topic, and then does that three-four times a day.

so, is this all just a burden to those team members who "have to" review the posts, or is it an issue with the members as a whole? i have never had a problem with it. why is this even an issue? i think that these complaint threads are a much bigger annoyance than any "bumped" thread from a member. there is a reason the thread changes to a red color after you have opened it, you know you have seen it before and you can just ignore it, no big deal! just my 2 cents.

Bumping of threads annoy me, and I don't have to 'review' any posts. I think it shows impatience.

wow this is old, but just a question

its ok to bump after like 24 hours, right?

I think so. It is usually frowned upon when people bump multiple times a day with simple posts like "bump", "ttt", etc.

'Creative' bumps please.. I've actually been on the prowl today with this. Some of the threads are so obnoxious to read.

And please TRY to wait 24 hours... 3-4 hours later is not acceptable.

Sorry, exasperated.
TTro787
I would rather someone bump an old thread then starting a new one of the exact same thing.
