I was wondering this last night. Ihave been collecting for over 20 years and have my own special way to open a pack of cards. I know a lot of card damage is caused from opening. Although I have not had this issue. I was just wondering if anyone has a special way of opening packs.
The way I do it is rip the seal down the back then rip one side of the top and dthen the same side of the bottom and slide the cards out.
How does everyone else do it?

If no one opens packs how does everyone get great pulls?

I usually just pull on the back tab thingie until a little hole appears at the top, then I open the top completely and wala!
I know people who use razors to slice the top of their packs off.

That's what I do as well.

Only broken 1 box so far...but I'm one of the blade users.
I have an exacto knife that I use to slice the top right off of 'em. Then I push the cards out the opening.

Basically what I do too. I can tell from his video breaks that kooljazz uses scissors. Looks like he shakes the cards toward the bottom of the pack, then cuts off the top end. Not a bad idea, as long as you know all cards are away from the top edge.

I've opened 4 packs so far, so I really have no idea!
I'll be opening 72 in about 2 weeks...

I just rip them open...pull the piece in the back until the top gives and then open one side of the pack

I go with a scissors all the time
Clumsy, large fingers and packs are not a good combination!

That what I was wondering if anyone really used razors and stuff.

I usually use my mouth. I dont use scissors or knives, because I like to save some of the packs.

I was pretty picky when it came to opening packs. No scissors or knives, just very careful when I opened them. I also liked to keep a few wrappers in tact, especially the Pacific wrappers. They had those pack points by the upc code for collecting. I hadn`t realized they went under though and wound up throwing away over 8,000 points. They really didn`t offer too many nice things for point redemtions. T-shirts were nice and so were those triangle card holders for those pennant shaped cards(can`t remember what they were called).

The current trend is scissors, but I save both my packs and boxes, so I just gently pull on the little middle flap until it slides apart. All of my boxes are displayed.

Depends on the pack...if it's a regular UD pack or a Topps Total pack or something, I like to take it out to my table saw and open it that way...I figure it saves me some time and frustration
If it's a little better pack, then I pull down the tab on the pack and open it that way, similar to many other people...then, I normally grumble and beat myself over the head for buying the pack in the first place.
(I normally don't do too well with packs

its crazy that me and you get along so well, i save my packs and boxes as well i wasnt going to respond to this but i had to seeing that someone else does the same thing..its crazy..who are you? you could be my twin..
so saving my packs i make sure i open them by pulling on the back flap enough at the top that the little divide between the two sides of one end can be inched apart and just put my finger in between them and move the tip of my finger to each end opening that end completely so i can just slide the cards out. probably 99% of the stuff i open goes back into the packs and into the box for storage. i guess thats a testiment to how low end or whatever the stuff is that i break, $35. stuff or less mostly. not worth putting in binders or hard cases or however the majority stores them. having securely opened packs makes it so that i can almost store them like the box wasnt opened.
