Hey guys, it's that time of the year where I get tempted by some of Blowout and DA's Black Friday etc deals and buy some crap. Mostly retail stuff this year, record for hockey. There were a few things that intrigued me at first and a few things pretty cheap and affordable but here's what I ended up ordering.

user posted image

Hockey - 2010/11 Victory Blaster - 11 packs/6 cards per

Football - 2008 Upper Deck Blister Box - 20 packs/18 cards per. No stats on hits but so far I've seen at least 2.

I was pretty close to trying out 2011/12 Panini Rookie Anthology Hockey but decided to go with the College Football Legends. I will open some of all this before Christmas. I have been working on the 2008 Upper Deck Football. Will get that up soon. Good luck to whatever you guys may be breaking as well!
otis0220

So wow, I couldn't even get the whole set. Only 164 out of 200. Sweet collation.
beanschat
Looks like that should entertain for several hours! Good luck!!
northicehero99
Cool, I am curious how you do on some of those. Saw those College Football Legends and was wondering how good they were. Good Luck, may the mojo be with you!
maple19
goodluck can not wait to see the hk

mike
urbanmonk
Good luck on those, looks like a blast.
otis0220
Thanks guys. A small one next.

44 cards per pack

Rookies

Anthony Davis, Kidd-Gilchrist, Thomas Robinson, Zeller, Harrison Barnes

Inserts

Board Members DeAndre Jordan
Franchise Greats John Stockton
Spark Plugs Louis Williams

Did not pull anything new besides the inserts. Up next could be a hockey blaster.
redwing40
That's a lot of stuff, Congrats and goodluck! if you hit any good Red Wings, hit me up!
otis0220
Thanks redwing.

2012/13 Upper Deck Hockey Blaster

12 packs and 5 cards per. 2 Young Guns RCs per box.

Rookies

Brenden Dillon, Sven Baertschi

Inserts

Hockey Heroes - Phil Esposito

MVP - Gaborik, Patrick Kane

UD Canvas - Jonas Hiller

Not bad, beat the stated odds on the Hockey Heroes and MVP. Can't beat these blasters at $6 and cheaper. Up next...hmmm....maybe one of the packs at the bottom.
northicehero99
Nice pulls so far, keep up the mojo!
otis0220
Thanks Brian, I can just hope.

Next is a small one. The 2 packs of 2009/10 Upper Deck Ice, nothing special, just base.

Marian Hossa, Kiprusoff, Owen Nolan, Vanek, St. Louis, James Neal, Kopitar, Patrick Kane, Gagner, Mike Richards

Thanks Roy.

Here's another small one.

40 cards

Rookies

A.J. Green, Amukamara, Ronald Johnson, DeAndre McDaniel

Insert

Connections - David Garrard/Maurice Jones-Drew

Parallel

Xtra Points RC - Robert Quinn

I'll get a break done in the next few days. Over the past week I started opening some of the UD Lineage and Swedish Victory. Doesn't look like I'll be able to complete my Lineage set. I could be short 10 or something.
otis0220
Hey guys, hope you all had a great Christmas! Next break:

2010/11 Victory Hockey Blaster

11 packs and 6 cards per. Rookie or insert in every pack.

Rookies

Grant Clitsome, Jamie McBain, Justin Mercier, Alex Plante, Casey Wellman

Inserts

Game Breakers

Cammalleri, Iginla, Mikko Koivu

Stars Of The Game

Brodeur, Jeff Carter, Mike Richards

Let me also note that I love the look of these cards. Pretty simplistic design (mainly the colored transparent V drawing attention out of the black/white tone) but I really really dig them. Anyway, maybe I'll go ahead with another break later tonight.
aceecards
otis0220
My next break:

2008/09 Upper Deck Lineage Retail Box

24 packs and 6 cards per. 6 RCs and 3 Jordan Legacies per box.

Rookies

Ryan Anderson, George Hill, Robin Lopez, Marreese Speights

Rookie Standouts

Courtney Lee, Bobby Brown, Joe Alexander, Joey Dorsey, Jawad Williams

Parallels

SE

Tony Parker, Dominique, Carl Landry, Rodney Carney, Stephen Jackson, Willie Green, Fisher, Hinrich

SE Rookies

Gasol, Jason Thompson

Hoped to maybe complete my set but still 26 short of the set. At least I got some SE's, appears those don't appear in hobby boxes. Most of my inserts were doubles from my other break. For the next break to come, hmmm we'll see...maybe the baseball, maybe the football blaster, maybe a hockey I don't know...
otis0220
Next break on deck:

2012 Panini Gridiron Football Blaster

8 packs and 10 cards per. 1 RC per pack. Inserts 1:2

Rookies

Inserts

Air Command - Dez Bryant

Arms Race - Matt Schaub

Crash Course - Sean Weatherspoon

Monday Night Heroes - Marshawn Lynch

Parallel

Rookie - Dan Herron 23/25

No great rookies. Nice pull though on the rookie numbered to 25, not sure on the odds of that. The cards look good, nice photography. Might get another break in tomorrow.
otis0220

Ryan Garbutt (error, blank back)

That is odd, at first I was going to say not an error as there are case hits of blank backs in OPC. But they are Hobby only far as I know, and I don't think they have them of the Rookies (but I could be wrong). I will search around and see what I can find out on that.

Did a search and saw where someone pulled a Blank Back out of Retail, so scratch that. UD never has them on the CL and has never stated print run on those, they are pretty rare but most sell for around $5 unless a really big player (as they are hard for Player Collectors to get due to lack of them out there). And saw a RC version on Ebay, so not an error then.

Bummer, none of these are in All-Star uniforms right? All are single diamonds? In some of the years players like Orr, Howe, Crosby and Ovechkin were only in the quad diamonds, but I see in the book they are in both for 11-12 BD. That is better, as at least you get some value when you get base cards.

Nice hit on the blank back and not bad on the other hits. Congrats!
otis0220
Thank you Brian. None are wearing ASG unis but I looked back and Jeff Carter actually had the 3 diamonds on the bottom left. Didn't notice it. Dwight, thanks for the info on the blank backs. Nice to know.
otis0220
Next break:

2012 Bowman Chrome Baseball Blaster

7 packs and 3 cards per. One extra unmarked pack. Refractors 1:4 packs.

Rookies

Wilin Rosario, Alex Liddi, Drew Hutchison

Prospects

Carlos Alonso, Miguel Chalas, Mike Gallic, Matt Hoffman, Frank Lafreniere, Taylor Siemens, Jesus Solórzano

Inserts

Legends In The Making Die-Cut (1:3 blasters) - Jered Weaver

Parallels

Refractors - Josh Johnson, Nate Jones

Blue Refractor (1:73 packs) - David Freitas 196/250

Inside the x-fractor bonus pack:

Aroldis Chapman, Luis Mateo and Granderson

They look like x-fractors to me, they say refractor on the back. Just call them x-refractors lol. Not sure if x-fractors in the product are numbered or not. Few more breaks to go. Maybe do one tomorrow. And Happy New Years to you all!
otis0220
Happy 2014! Watching the Winter Classic between the Wings and Leafs. Just finished a break.

2002/03 O-Pee-Chee Blaster

9 packs and 9 cards per. 1 oversized bonus card per box. At least 1 insert per box. Bunch of prospects.

Prospects

Jimmie Olvestad, Petr Schastlivy, Marcel Hossa, Shane Endicott, Montador, Juraj Kolnik, Pasi Nurminen, Bryan Allen, John Erskine, Nick Schultz, Berglund, Mike Van Ryn, Alex Auld

Inserts

Own The Game (1:7) - Brodeur, Iginla

Coast To Coast (1:13) - Sakic

Rookie Reprint (1:23) - Glen Sather

Parallels

OPC Premier Blue Line Parallel (1:17) - Prospect Sergei Varlamov 217/500

Oversized Card - Bertuzzi

Nice break, cool to go back in time a little. Recognized the names except for a few prospects. Awesome to see guys like Ziggy Palffy, Mariusz Czerkowski & Ulf Dahlen. Wish there were more Sharks and Mighty Ducks, but the ones I did get were great; Marleau and Kariya. More to come later on.
otis0220
Finally here's the next box:

2009/10 Victory Hockey Swedish Edition

24 packs and 6 cards per. Insert in each pack. Rookies are about 1:2 packs.

Rookies

Andrew McDonald, Brandon Segal, Jesse Joensuu, Jakub Petruzalek, Luca Caputi, Phil Oreskovic, Artem Anisimov, Jhonas Enroth, Riku Helenius, Ville Leino, Tom Wandell, Byron Bitz, Matt Pelech

Inserts

Svenska Superstjarnor - Kronwall, D. Sedin, Loui Eriksson, Franzen, Lidstrom, Alfredsson, Sundin, Huselius, Ohlund, Fredrik Modin, Zetterberg, Edler, Mikael Samuelsson, P.J. Axelsson, Nicklas Backstrom, H. Sedin, Kim Johnsson, Tomas Holmstrom, Michael Nylander, Lundqvist

I have a little over half of the set. I'm not very crazy about these cards, would've liked it to have been more "Swedish". If you looked at the front of a card, you'd have no idea it was from a foreign edition. At least show the position on the front instead of the card back. Well there is one more break to report, the lone hobby box. I will try posting about that tonight or tomorrow. Now, time to watch The Goldberg's. smile.gif
northicehero99
Neat stuff on the Swedish hockey. Good luck with the hobby box!
otis0220
Thanks Brian. Here's the final product.

2011 Upper Deck College Football Legends Hobby Box

Bowl Game Heroes

Sanders, Bo Jackson, Moon, Pruitt

Hits

Autographs

Herman Moore, Kellen Winslow, Ron Dayne

I got 60 of the 100 base cards. From reviews I've checked before buying this, the autos are basically signed base cards. No special designs or anything. Hoping I can get some decent guys, one of the greats would be awesome. Tomorrow I will find out and reveal what I pulled. The hits saved over are 2 jersey cards from 2008 UD Football and these 3 autos. Maybe I will do a "live break" in the late afternoon or evening.
otis0220
Ok guys if you want to see, I will start checking and revealing the hits at 9pm.
