got this as an offer on a set I have listed on Ebay this week. "Hello there, my name is Carlos and Im a soldier currently deployed overseas. I was wondering if you could accept an offer of $xx on this set. Please let me know. Thanks!"
Nice touch of I am a soldier but as ex-military(USMC) I do not think I would use that as a bargaining chip?

Yeah probably better odds that it is a lie than the truth, unless things have changed that much in the world. As folks tend to use any angle to get things in their favor, and one doesn't see too many military folks doing things like that (in the past I have seen them try and decline someone buying them a drink in the airport bar, though they usually gave in).

as a current member of the US Navy, i have served on 3 Deployments for a total of 17 months overseas. i can honestly say not one time would/did i use a line like that. Definately a scam to get you to lower the price!!!
