OK so you've seen the deal or rather the contest/link "The Chain" by Marc (msw_sportscards) and the New Part 2 Well this starship Captain is trying his hand at a link.

The Concept: When I start off this link I will send a minimum of two cards a fairly recent card (2000s or so), and an older card (Pre-1980s probably 70s). When the next person gets the cards they choose what they want and then replace with either:

A "Newer" card that is at least one year newer than the card they are keeping.

Or an "Older" card that is at least one year older than the card they are keeping.

The replacement card can not be the same year as the card that is being kept. If you choose to take more than one card you may do so, just replace each card you took with either a newer card or an older card.

They may replace just one of the cards, or both/all if they want, but in keeping with the nature of the Chain if you take something you must replace it. If not the chain may die before being completed.

Hopefully each person will provide a little bit of a range to choose from, it would be sad if the next to last person in the chain is stuck getting two 2012 cards and has no choice but to send "older". I don't think that will happen but it might be possible.

There is still time to get in on this boat. The way things are shaping up it looks like it maybe a little small but that is OK. Also looks like Sam might be the first recipient of the package we'll find out sometime on Friday I'm guessing.

I've got to figure out what to load as the first round.

I haven' heard back from a few folks from months ago to see it they are still in I'll move them to the end of the list to get things going. If they still haven't checked in by the time they are on deck I'll request whoever has the chain at that point to send it back to me.

I've got 9 cards so far I was thinking about 10-12. Most of them are newer cards from the last 5-10 years (ack one is an 11/12 card Oh well), there are a couple of older cards. There are some relics (GU). Not sure if I'll add an auto or not. There is at least 1 card from each of the Main 4 sports, so far most of it is Baseball. Don't think I'll have it completely ready by tomorrow.

OK I have a small lot of cards ready for this and I have scanned them. I'll post the scans Friday (tomorrow) evening or sometime Saturday (when the package will hopefully ship out).

Verified chain members are listed on the first post in blue, when the package gets to the last verified member it will be shipped back to me.

Remember replacements for any cards you take must be a different year than the card you took. When the package gets to you please mention which card you are taking. Then tell us what you are replacing it with so we can track what is currently in the package.

When you receive the package check to see who is next in line and PM them for their mailing address if you haven't already.

Please post to this thread when you have received the package and when you ship it out.

I have made my decision! I have taken the following 2 cards:



The Kovalev is going into my Canadiens PC, and the Butkus will be passed on to a Bears fan in my area.

As replacements, I decided to go newer to replace the Kovalev, and older to replace the Butkus.



The Jamie Benn is from 2011-12 Artifcats, and the Gilcgrist is a 1966 Topps AFL.

The package will go out to HUGEEAGLESFAN tomorrow.
