Full Version: New feature: Google Search

I'm pleased to announce a brand-new feature... Google Search!

You'll now see that a search box has been added at the top of every single page on TradingCardCentral.com. This new search tool is powered by Google and can be used to search just TCC (default; whatever Google knows about the site), just OpenChecklist (whatever Google knows about the site) or the entire Web.

Give it a try and you'll see that the search results are embedded right within the TCC site! These results include content from all the left-side menu areas as well as the forums! So, you can now quickly find news and articles based on your interests. smile.gif

This is one of many steps being taken to better use the large amounts of content already on the site and the new content that is coming soon (more details to follow).

By the way, the Forum Search tool is still available and can be used to limit your searches to only the text contained in posts.

Sorry, but that can't be done. By no later than the end of the year though, it will be more tightly integrated into the upper part of the template (above the blue) as part of an overall template upgrade. Before that, I will be making a few more minor adjustments to the layout/appearance.

We all have our slower times. wink.gif

Luckily for the site, my slower times often lead to new features. biggrin.gif

By the way, the new Google Search was used 121 times yesterday. Since it's now on every page of the site, today's usage number should be very interesting.

That was pretty great idea, but I use Yahoo.com or Ask.com more than google. I just want to ask you something just for being curious. Why not pick yahoo.com, ask.com, or any other searches link?

Because Google is more widely used than other search engines. Plus, they make it easy to plug their search engine into your web site. wink.gif

huh... Another tool for me to figure out how to use. As if learning my way around a new site is not time consuming enough.
