Going the way of the Type Collector? Excellent!

Start with Topps. You should be able to get from 1952 to 1970 with no problem. And then go from there. You can get GREAT-looking graded commons for these years. I'm just advising that because a type-collection is more about the card and its design and its evolution through the years rather than about the players themselves.

And there is a HUGE number of tobacco and candy issues from 1901 to the 1930's.

Yep i guess so since i really don't collect much in baseball i thought this would be a cool thing to do.
