I've seen the same puck (logo) with Mario's autograph with as much as $100 differance in price. Only thing different is the online company and the outfit that supplies the COA. Also saw one on ebay that said "MY COA", what the heck is that, a letter written by the seller? Maybe they had it autographed in person. I'd be too suspicious of one like this.

Any words of advice much appreciated before I lay down 300 smackers.

Thx
David

PS COA does not really guarantee it as well, because some of those are homemade jobs. Computer printers have made creating these things relatively easy.

You need to know who made the COA.

Also, just because someone got it in person does not mean it is fake but it is harder to prove as real unless you have it PSA/DNA tested.

I would try to find reputable dealers in your area and see what they have available. I know a few shops who had stuff locally but even then it could be a gamble. Also do your research on his auto as he definately signs a specific way although it has changed from his earlier years. He always ends it with 66 looped off his last name. I would probably go after a certified auto out of a card product, rather than a puck.

David also forgot there is a place that advertises in the Beckett (Frozen Pond) that seems to carry all the NHL players. I am pretty sure they are legit as they often show photos in the ad of players signing.

You're right Brian found this at Frozen Pond:

Not bad

I like this other one because of the complex authentication, hologram with serial number on the puck which can be authenticated at their site:

QUOTE
Mario Lemieux Autographed (Penguins) Hockey Puck. It is officially licensed and comes with an individually numbered, tamper evident hologram from Mounted Memories. To ensure authenticity, the hologram can be reviewed online at MountedMemories.com. This process helps to ensure that the product purchased is authentic and eliminates any possibility of duplication or fraud.

And how cool is this:

Something else I found interesting at the Frozen Pond site in their Q&A

QUOTE
Our public and private autograph sessions are well advertised in our mailings and on our website. You are more than welcome to send in your own item to get signed at any of these solicited events.

AO is due on Oct 28th, Jagr on Dec 28th. I might send in a card for each of these see what happens.

Edit: Nevermind on the AO or Jagr signings, they charge big time, I just called them sad.gif

Thx Brian

David I think the holofoil referred to on Frozen Pond site is the same process that the other site is offering.

I like those puck and card holders they are nice for displaying, but I would find a nicer one for the Mario if you are paying that much. Might need a lock and key. laugh.gif
