On January 4th, I sent an email to each of the 30 NHL teams via their website requesting one of their fanpacks be sent to me. I am interested to see what the differences are in these individual fan packs and what kind of cool stuff they'll send out. I'll post my responses as I receive them.

The email address on the Ducks website bounced back to my email server.

The Penguins sent me an email on January 5th saying that they do not offer fan packs, but that I could purchase merchandise from the Fan Shop.

The Black Hawks said they would gladly send me one if I send them a SASE, which I will do shortly.

On January 9th, they started to arrive. The Leafs came through with a pretty cool Fan Pack which included the following:

3 pocket schedules
a card promoting the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate)
a 2 page history of the Leafs
a Leafs/Buds Club laniard
a Buds Club pedometer
a Wendel Clark 4"X6" photo
a Mats Sundin 4"X6" team issued card
and 4 cards issued by Topps (from a set I haven't been able to identify) featuring the '62, '63, '64, & '67 Stanley Cup winning teams (cards are numbered 116-119 if any one can help me identify them).

On January 11th, the Kings sent a Note card personally thanking me for my support along with 2 pocket schedules and a magnetic season schedule (about 5"X8").

It's actually printed on the card. I thought I had lucked out when I opened it, but upon closer inspection...preprint.

Awesome, how do you go about doing this?

On those Topps Leafs SC cards I have never seen those before. They are pretty neat looking. Would not mind adding those. Very cool.

I went to the team sites and looked for the Contact Us section (it varies by site so it can be a bit of a chore to find it) and sent an email asking them to send me a fan pack. Be sure to include your mailing address and good luck!

Fun to see what teams offer. Kinda of interesting to see what teams are doing for their fans.

Hope you get more.

I've also tried it with some European cycling teams with some decent successes (even got an auto once).

The Lightning sent a pencil, a pocket schedule and four team issued cards: Martin St. Louis, Andreas Karlsson, Vaclav Prospal & Dan Boyle. Pencil caused some damage in transit as it appears to have caused problems for both the USPS and CP sorting machines. Pencil arrived broken, while the original envelope was in a USPS "sorry about the damage" pouches, which in turn was in a Canada Post "Sorry about the damage" pouch. It also caused some creases in the cards. Scans will be added shortly.

As promised here are the Lightning scans:

They tend to be postcard size for the most part, though some are even larger.

That's the problem with these mascots, you can't kill them. If there's a nuclear holocaust, the only survivors will be the roaches and these dang mascots! tongue.gif

Well, we're almost a month in and a third of the teams have been accounted for so far. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the mailman, should be here soon...
doniceage
Greg,
Did you send snail mail to Colorado as they specifically request a SASE and do not do it thru e-mails via their website. Just asking ya on that point.

No. I had just tried to see if I would get anything by contacting each team by their email/website. I may do so, though. Thanks for the info.

First place team with a first class fan pack! The defending Cup champs could learn a thing or two...

The only problem was that the 8X10's were a little creased from the puck banging around in the envelope

27FEB

Atlanta Thrashers have come through.

I received a personalized Thank you letter, a pocket schedule, a Thrashers logo tattoo, a magnetized schedule and four team issued cards (Hossa, Kovalchuk, Holik and Boulton).

Cool! The one to get is Nashville. By far the best of the bunch. The Leafs & Habs were pretty decent, too!

Well, it's been awhile, so I don't really expect to receive any more, in spite of the emails from both Calgary and Florida advising that one was coming.

We'll have to try this again in the fall and maybe include some other leagues.

It was fun! Thanks for watching!

I got my fan pack from the Sabres today. It had 2 stickers and a Briere magnet.

I did this all via each team's website. I searched for the Contact Us info and sent them a message requesting a fan pack. Pittsburgh sent an email saying that they don't send, but can buy stuff from their store.
oldspice_007
That is some sweet stuff Greg.

Might try this for basketball next year or in the summer.
fc_rules
Can you do this for basketball or baseball? I sent one to the Sharks last night but they have yet to reply... Thanks!!!
gregorium
I got replies from Calgary and the Panthers saying that something was on its way (but nothing has yet to arrive), from Chicago saying to send a SASE, and from the Pens saying that I was out of luck. Most will just send the stuff out without replying to your message.

As for the other sports, I'd be surprised if they didn't hand something out.

You're lucky my friend!! biggrin.gif

I just got the latest hockey Beckett (Crosby on the cover) and it had their annual story on team issued cards. It'll give you an idea of what tyou can expect in a fan pack, or to expect anything at all.
gregorium
Well, I went to the mailbox on Tuesday (18JUN) only to find another fan pack from the Sens. Weird, as this is the second fan pack that I received from them this year, and I only sent 1 email request. The super good news is that it is totally different from the one I received earlier in the year.

What I got:

Generic thank you for your support letter
History of Hockey in Ottawa
List of 06-07 roster
2 different temporary tattoos
A Sens shoulder crest
3 team-issued player postcards : Comrie, Kelly, & Corvo
16"X20" Wade Redden poster
8X10 team picture
Daniel Alfredsson bookmark
5 card UD team set
