After busting and collating a case last night I noticed a disturbing trend

I didnt get any minis card numbers 151-210!!!

So I emailed Chris Carlin and he responded.

There will only be 88 complete sets of minis in the entire production run!

there are 8 parallel magician sets hand numbered to 8!

and 80 people maybe lucky enough to complete the minis as there are only 80 of the cards 151-210 created!

The reference to SP and super SP's is in relation to the minis in particular!

Even worse.. from 1 case I did NOT complete any of the sets or subsets

Im short 6 cards from the base set

I need 5 of the animal series, 5 of the citizens of the century and 2 of the citizens of the day!

I need so many minis , besides the 60 sp and sssp's that I probably wont pursue those at all!

I did get 12 autos and 25 GU including a michael Jordan
My autos included
Bill Rodgers
Donovan Bailey
Evelyn Ng
Joe Lewis (martial arts guy)
and a bunch of baseball scrubs the best being Matt Cain


I did get 12 of the shiny foil parallel minis and 1 hand numbered magician mini (Todd Helton).

A pretty set.. but as I said originally darn near cost prohibitive to assemble the minis from a set builders perspective

Also you get WAY TOO many of the 20th anniversary cards , some boxes i got 11-12 and others 8-9 and those ate up much needed base cards for a set assemblage!

ALSO one final piece of advice!

An open box on a dealer shelf COULD EASILY be cherry picked here is why!
The packs with a GU are abnormally thicker than the other 18 packs! The card stock for the base is the flimsy old grey back schtuff and very thin ply!

The packs with two minis (a gypsy queen and base mini are just as easily discernable from a normal pack as they have like a "pregnant" bow to them!

AND....and this is most important.. the packs that contain the foil parallel mini or the hand numbered mini.. contain only 2 cards (or at least my case did) 1 or 2 big base and the special mini!

It wont take long for anyone who busts any quantity of this product to realize what packs are what! BE CAREFUL!!!

a final note for those of us who busted Champs this config is identical minus the two minis in every pack!

Oh and a final note

As I collated the bustage, I noticed that there are no big base cards 211-252 , although i havent confirmed this yet I believe cards 211-252 exist only as minis?

another fact regarding the big base is the small stacks of cards from 151-210 so there maybe some sort of sp or ssp regarding the big base cards also! All 6 of my needs are from 190-210 ! Now that couldve just been my case or it could be a habitual problem!

I want scans!!!!!!

Based on your results I will very well have to rethink my idea of completing a set of this stuff. There are some select cards that I'm going to have to go after. I picked up two Kinsler GU in a lot from the ebay so if you're doing the GU I will have a double of that particular card in the very near future.

Kris, my weeknights and weekends are swamped from wednesday on. I spent last night sorting and collating and got finished about 11PM I think ill have another case arriving today .

I have a ton of dupes, in fact I think i got a dupe of every base card I have and about 30 or so minis! I dont have a kinsler GU yet , I may try to assemble the base gu if I get close from case two!

Im still really disgruntled that I got bit by this bug as I said originally that it sounded way to hard to assemble the set, and after I spent close to $500 to assemble the champs minis I swore this one off. Shawn is one heckuva salesmen i guess!

I did enjoy getting the autos of some of the track stars and the poker queen!

I may have to come up with something by way of a HOF'er for your collection to work a deal for some of the doubles. I might try for at least a base set and the select cards from the check list I'm highly interested in. The bug cards look cool....especially the scorpion card I saw on UD's facebook page.

Steve, I have confidence if anyone can knock this set out.... It will be you. GO FOR IT!

Heya Steve, what did you get as your case hit? And was it a redemption? The only ones I've seen up on the 'bay have been redemptions! If it wasn't a redemption would love to see a scan!

I was told by UD that all insect card , hair cards and landmark cards are redemption only due to thickness of the card just like the champs fossill

I got a redemption for a horse hair card but no mention of what horse..

wow i hate to see what some of the sp out of 80 will sell for.

Not a single one for sale on ebay either!

again Ill be on the lookout for minis card numbers 151-210 !!

Don't wont you to spend a Grand finishing this so I will be on the lookout locally and elsewhere! A worthy cause...would love to say I know someone with a mini set of this stuff!!

Hmm, I looked at the checklist on UD's website and couldn't find the mini's in question! There's the #1-150 minis/parallels and the #211-252 mini exclusives/parallels, but only see the SP and Super SP on the regular sized cards! Also on a sidenote, I've read about base set background variations (like Turkey Red)!

Ive talked to 14 different collectors who have busted 23 cases + and not one person has seen a single mini cards 151-210!

I have sent another blast to Chris asking him to verify the accuracy of the original response! Stay tuned!

They do not exist...single mini cards 151-210!

It's not 151-210 but two FCB members each pulled a Magician - can't remember who one was but the other was of President Obama.
