I just saw this on the Cardinals website. He is what we needed, but we never have had. I hope we use his as a closer. Like you said, he can't be any worse than Wellemeyer and Motte isn't setting the world on fire either. I think he's just what we needed.
2000 rushing yards
glad to see him back pitching!

That means my GU card that I pulled of him is not altogether worthless. I thought he was done for. Usually when the Sox get rid of a guy they have realized that he is on his last legs.

Wow, 9 SOs in 5 innings.

Ryan Franklin has 34 saves before the end of August. On what grounds do you suggest he be replaced by Smoltz with an over-7 ERA?

No, I mean the guy that replaces Motte and Wellemeyer. Ryan Franklin has been absolutely amazing this year. Now that Smoltz already had one good start, he looks good as a starter to me. With a 9 game lead, we are looking great!

yeah and Smoltz had another great start last night for the Cards. He gave up just 1 run. He all ready is better than Wellemeyer. Lets hope the Cards keep him as a starter as long as he keeps up the good work.
