I know at the end of the year we have a vote for the years Most Generous Member, but I have got to ask, how in the world are we supposed to decide this year?? I mean look at the great members we have showing their generosity on almost a daily basis! People like sasports, RGBII, Road Runner 1964, KHarman, etc! I mean iv sent out numerous free things this year but I wouldnt even allow myself to be in the same sentence as these guys! These are no doubt some of thee best people alot of us are ever going to associate with. I seen earlier yet another example of this and just had to post this. I urge everyone, when it comes to voting for 09 Most Generous Member, dont vote. Because all of these great guys deserve the award!!
Thanks again to all you guys helping out fellow TCC'ers!

I definetly agree instead of voting all of those generous TCC Members should get the award!

I've gotten so much free stuff this year and I want to thank everyone for it. From what I hear from some people I have more stuff coming in.

Way to go everyone!

I just vote that we do this pee wee sports style where everybody gets a trophy
In this case, all of the deserving people are voted most generous memberS... i personally have been a benefactor of some of their kindness as well and I hope they are all recognized as deserved. I'll probably opt not to vote if that must be the option in this... unless there's an all of the above option on the poll this year :]

It does make the voting tight for sure, though many folks have short term memory and vote by what has been done recently, or so it would appear. I agree though there is so many folks that one could never outdo here, even if you tried hard would still feel like you paled in comparison.

There is always the prospect of honorable mention for those that don't win. Really, it's just a title. Those generous people give to make people happy, not to win an award. I'm sure it doesn't matter so much as that to them.

Yes even being nominated is honor enough

and there are other ways to get attention, though not all of them are necessarily good though

I read this thread more than once since it was posted and tried to think of an appropriate response. I guess you can call a lot of the "freebies" generosity. I don't know if I would call it that. I think a lot of what you see is collectors having something in their collection that doesn't really fit their collecting goals, and they find another collector that needs that certain something to help them complete a collection or get one step closer to their goal. TCC is the tool that we use to help those other collectors.
I've seen some of the freebies Chip has sent and buddy, you definitely fit in the same sentence as any of the rest of us. I think if you was to ask Richard, Steve, Bob, or any of the other guys, to a man, they'd probably agree that it isn't as much about generosity as it is helping collectors reach goals and milestones in their collections. When it comes to the KINGS of giving to other collectors, it's hard to beat those guys when it comes to giving cards to collectors who will cherish them in their personal collections.

I agree with what you are saying, but the folks that send things like that someone's way are
generous. As too many folks hold cards for your PC hostage if they think you need them, many expect things in a different league for them as they know you want them. So I guess I still think highly of folks that go out of the way to help someone, at least until it becomes the norm anyway
