What do you use to send cards? I use a toploader but my cards never seem to either get back to me or have been signed on the toploader. What else works?

Thanks for any help.

That is hilarious!! I would think they would know what to do!! I don't think you want to send without toploader but maybe you have to ask them to sign directly on the card....kind of surprised that thye sometimes don't return them..they must be using them for their own collection!!

"I have enclosed a card for you to sign, and because your card will be a valued part of my personal collection, I have also included a card protector to help protect it on its way back to me"

maybe that would help....just a thought and I don't think it "implies" too much

I once sent with a penny sleeve and toploader. The card came back with the penny sleeve and toploader, but the card was just thrown in the envelope. Haha. Needless to say it was bent but oh well. PC anyways.

Thanks Guys

I used to send penny sleeves, but I heard that they don't really do anything to protect the card and are more of an annoyance than anything, so I just send the cards as they are. Haven't had any problems, knock wood.

I fold an index card (4x6) in half with tape on the end to form a pocket; several times the index card has also been signed.

I just send the card as-is as well.. Only had one or two cards bent, one or two smudged as well...

If I were to send a card just as it is would I need to put DO NOT BEND on the envalope?

Thanks

I never send with a top loader or penny sleeve. I use a smaller return envelope (3.5" x 6.5") and include 4 index cards in the SASE. In the few hundred returns I have had, I haven't had a damaged card. I wrap my letter around the card and tuck it in the flap of the SASE.

To my postal person that means "cram it in the box anyway possible"...

One more thing I wanted to add to this topic...

Sending TTM is already asking more from someone than is really necessary at all. Adding plastic coverings and instructions and additional requests is only going to make the person you're making the request to want to sign your item less.

Keep it simple, keep it short, keep it polite... You'll be much more likely to get a success without all the instructions.

Tom is spot on.

It can be a gamble as to if you ever get your item back too. Never send anything in the mail that you can't replace.

Okay Thanks Guys! I think I'm just gonna send the card as it is.
