The Detroit Tigers are leading the Al Central and have now traded for Pitcher Jarrod Washburn. I think this is a great addition and boosts their chances at advancing to the WS. What do you guys think?

Hopefully our Central lead over the Twins & White Sox can lengthen a bit in the next couple weeks, so we have some breathing room for the last part of the season.
joe31
Jul 31 2009, 01:46 PM
Yeah some breathing room would be nice...

With Guillen back in the line-up, that will only help our offense...having a great utility infielder like Ramonago will benefit usin the playoffs when either Adam Everett or Placido Polanco need a day off.

Let's hope..because if we don't win the league, it's going to be very difficult to win the Wild Card with Boston and New York battling for the AL East division title, the 2nd place finisher of that league will pretty much lock up the wild card.

We need some relievers really bad too though.
ronaldinho0003
Aug 2 2009, 10:13 AM
I wouldn't say we NEED some...some bullpens are worse off than we are, but a new effective bullpen pitcher or two would definately be helpful.

Well the tigers are usually going into the last inning and they put in zumaya or rodney and they mess the rest of the game up and loose it.
ronaldinho0003
Aug 2 2009, 11:39 AM
#1-Zumaya is out for the year.
#2-Rodney has only blown one save this year, (last night), and the Tigers still ended up winning that game.

Its true rodneys first blown save was the other night. I just don't think he's good enough to keep getting the job done good though.
Wow we got killed today

ronaldinho0003
Aug 3 2009, 05:00 PM
Yes. I wish we could get Miner back to a starting pitcher, since Gallaragga is terrible...(5-10).
joe31
Aug 3 2009, 05:02 PM
Yeah I thought he would do better. We have Verlander, Jackson, Washburn, Porcello.... What ever happened to Bonderman?
ronaldinho0003
Aug 3 2009, 05:03 PM
He's on the DL..never really came back from that injury he had last year.
joe31
Aug 3 2009, 05:06 PM
Oh, those 4 pitchers should help us though. I dont think we'll need to use Armando very much anymore though
ronaldinho0003
Aug 3 2009, 05:07 PM
Um..like every fifth game we'll have to.
joe31
Aug 3 2009, 05:08 PM

Out of all the division leaders we have the worst record. Also we would be 4th and 3rd place in the other AL divisions.
ronaldinho0003
Aug 8 2009, 02:16 PM
Oh I see...hopefully we can get the offense going before playoff time!
joe31
Aug 8 2009, 02:22 PM
Yeah, if white sox pass us though in the AL Central we dont really have a shot at the playoffs. We gotta keep the lead!
ronaldinho0003
Aug 8 2009, 02:29 PM
They won't pass us...a 5 or 6 game lead would be nice though!
joe31
Aug 8 2009, 02:34 PM
Yes it would....

Wow, I didn't know we had the central lead since May 18th.
Bad loss to Twins last night...Verlander got rocked.
Too add a little salt to the wound, Chicago won too.
So the standings are now this...
DETROIT GB
CHICAGO 2
MINNESOTA 4.5
CLEVELAND 11.5
KANSAS CITY 15.5
