Full Version: What do YOU want/expect from the Membership Team?

TCC members,

Currently the TCC Membership Team (us guys with purple names) consists of eight members. Our general goal is to make each member feel as "at home" as possible here at Trading Card Central, whether it be from providing birthday wishes, offering congratulations for achievements, offering advice, welcoming new members, and so forth.

However, sometimes we feel like we aren't doing "enough" for TCC. This is why I come to each of you. What do YOU expect from the TCC Membership Team? How do you think we could help to improve TCC? All comments are appreciated!

Thanks!

- ffman, TCC Membership Team Member and TCCer for life.

I think that the membership team handles stuff well but there should be a thread/area where members can put there problems out and people can help them eg. I got a trade in today what do I do if the cards are damaged then you guys could halp him quicker
ffman
The transaction area is one thing we really can't deal with - the Collector Zone Team guys have all the tools available to fix that.

Increase membership through non spamming recruiting. Welcome newcomers and help them with "what is, where is" type questions.

I think something like a "welcoming e-mail" with links to the "introduce yourself" thread and a list of features that the site has to offer would be cool. I'm not saying that there should be a list of "rules" in the welcoming PM since we don't want to scare anyone away, just a simple list of where to find things and a "how to" guide for setting up trades and such.

Just a simple thought....kinda like all my other thoughts....simple. blink.gif

It's been awhile, but as I recall when Bob clears you to post a PM comes to you with something along those lines. Asking you to introduce yourself etc....At least that was the case when I joined, but that was a couple years back too wink.gif

When school levels out this semester I plan on doing something that will hopefully increase membership through non-spamming means. I know I'm just a Graphics Team dude but I want to help.

You are more than welcome to help Andy. I have a thought that I would like run by Bob in the near future....I know he is busy but I plan on sending him an email tonight with an idea that would allow members of the Graphics and Membership teams to work together.

I agree that a "how to" forum (if we don't have one already unsure.gif ) would be an excellent tool for us vets as well as any newbees who may join in the future. Kinda a tool explaining the tools that already exist huh.gif

Also I think we should fund a member to travel the country setting up at card shows to promote TCC----- biggrin.gif ---It would be rough but I'd volunteer my services laugh.gif
ffman
We have a variety of "how to" topics around, some not created by the Membership Team guys (one by jwman92). I guess we need to work on combining into one topic?

TCC has come a long way since I joined. My welcoming message from Bob sounded something like this.....

Welcome to TCC. Stop
If you need assistance feel free to ask me or anyone of the......ahh, who am I kidding, I AM the only person you can ask. laugh.gif

Bob was the CZT when Aceecards and I first joined.

I think you folks do a fine job. As far as what I expect? Gosh, I expect nothing really. This is a free forum with some good people. I'm good to go with that.

I work with volunteers regularly and we're always careful to thank them and not burn them out. The good ones usually get burnt out the fastest unfortunately because they work the hardest. My guess is that the same can be said here.

Chins up and keep pushing forward. You do plenty IMO. Your service is not overlooked, and it's most appreciated.

At least your sub-forum has some activity, I'm sure. 2 posts since early Sept. 08 in the Graphics one!

I think the membership team does an AWESOME JOB!!! also the CZT and anybody else on the "team"

This site wouldn't be near as good if we didn't have you guys/gals doing more than you are called to deal with!

(I know the membership team/czt members deal with the anger/frustration of members when a transaction doesn't go the way they planned and want to thank you all for putting up with it!)

THANKS!

ffman
Thanks for the comments guys.

I think that going off of KHarmon's idea we could build a "welcome" PM to send to new members - just a matter of deciding what to include since too much info could be a little overwhelming.

Tough questions. The Membership Team I think is doing a terrific Job.

So far the suggestions mentioned here, like the "How to guide" is good. That Guide could also be posted somewhere permanent to remind the rest of us how to do things and the Team Members could refer people to the appropriate section of the guide.

I liked the Doughnut suggestion, when should I expect mine? laugh.gif

lets see suggestions. I know there's the birthday wishes that are posted, perhaps a "Birthday PM" could be sent to members. A generic "birthday greetings" form letter could be made (by whichever committee is appropriate for that sort of thing) and sent via PM to the birthday boys and girls.

Any other thoughts?

A "welcome PM" with some helpful hints is being worked on right now and a few have already been sent.

This was an idea I posed to Richard (RGBII) a short while ago, and I think it needs to be instituted as soon as possible. I think that while the membership team does a great job with our current members, they need to improve their relations with new members, so that TCC can grow.
ffman
I've sent a welcome PM to a few new members, although it is hard to tell which "new" members have been approved to post yet.

Giving this a little "nudge" as the Membership Team is currently looking to expand what we do!

One thing I've noticed is that not all members of the membership team are consistent with welcoming new members in the "Introductions" forum, or wishing members a Happy Birthday. There are only a few that I've noticed that are really good about getting involved in nearly every thread. Other than that though, I don't believe there's a whole lot the membership team can do any better than they are already.
