All right. Lately, there have been various topics addressing the same issues with TCC. It's become very obvious that Bob is not wanting to continually improve TCC nor is he by any means willing to delegate any responsibility necessary. I think it's become exceedingly clear that we, as members, need to step it up and start doing things within our power to bring TCC to what it once was. Because of this, I have decided to bring back the Trade-A-Thon by volunteering to run it. While Bob has the power to award people the little titles under their username, I think everything else can be ran without his help.
Here are a few things regarding the Trade-A-Thon that I was thinking:
-These are going to be held primarily for fun and to bring an increase in the amount of deals done here on TCC.
-However, there will be prizes awarded to the top few finishers each time. I will be giving prizes from my collection. They will not be huge, but at least it is something. If anyone would like to donate prizes to the winner, that'd also be great. By no means is it required though, so please do not feel compelled to.
-Like last time, I'm thinking only trades will count towards this one. It'd definitely benefit me, personally, if sales counted. However, then technically group breaks would count towards the overall number and the hosts of the group box breaks would have a distinct advantage.
-I'm thinking doing bi-weekly Trade-A-Thons, so that each one runs 2 weeks.
What does everything think about this? Suggestions, ways to improve, opinions, etc. are greatly appreciated.

I think that Bob DOES want to improve TCC, just has much less time to do it.
A trade-a-thon would be great, although I know I won't be a top competitor.

You never know though. Spring break is coming up.

It's basically a contest/promotion type of thing just to see how many trades we can get done in a certain amount of time. The top few traders within that time period will get some prizes. As I had stated, it's more to have fun than anything. Also, hopefully this increases the amount of deals everyone gets done and the trading activity increases.

Haha. With midterms coming up and all, I might be more limited than usual. However, break is coming up afterwards so who knows.

Always at a loss when someone makes this kind of assertion...
I mean, if I have an insert that has an equal value to a memorabilia piece, why is that not a worthwhile trade?
After all it's not as if most GU cards are going for much these days anyhow...

I wasnt meaning that in a bad way. I myself am a big insert and base collector, I was just saying that in order for me to have a good amount of trades within the trade-a-thon, it would have to be with the base and inserts and such I that I have. I agree with the equal value statement its just alot of times people wont trade inserts and such for memorabilia even if the inserts have more value. I think you and I think alike. Ankesh,
I really appreciate your assumptions about me and my feelings towards this site - a site that I have devoted countless hours and substantial resources toward over many years. In addition, your lack of restraint in making public comments based on your assumptions before making any attempt to discuss your concerns privately speaks volumes.
Thanks!

Well, I was going to respond, but Bob beat me to the punch. Bob has dedicated more time to building and improving TCC than any of us. This is HIS creation and we are all a part of it. While agree that the site is what we make of it, there is no reason to assume that Bob doesn't want it to continue to improve.
One thing that I have come to realize, especially over the last couple of years, is that life happens and can, and often does, get in the way of things that we really want to be doing. Time for more important responsibilities to family and work interferes with time dedicated to hobbies and other things that may be, in normal times, extremely important.
I'm not sure what has happened with Bob, I just returned to the site after an extremely long hiatus while I got things in my personal life turned around. As I understand it, he has had a job change and is getting settled into a new grind, which makes it understandable if he has been absent. Give it time, and I'm sure that once things in his new job are settled, and as his schedule will allow it, his presence here will be more obvious and he, with all of our help, will continue to make this the best trading card site on the web.

Thanks, Kris. Your response is appreciated.
A quick look at my checking account shows that there are many payments going in multiple directions each month in order to make sure everyone else has a
FREE web site to support their hobby. I'm sure if you ask my wife, she would be at least one person who would view that as a commitment to TCC.

In any event...
If any member wants to step forward and volunteer to host a Trade-a-Thon, don't hesitate to do so! However, I'm simply suggesting that members can step forward to have a positive impact on TCC without taking shots at me in the process.

Honestly,
Your comments are both reprehensible and disgusting. Mr Bob has dedicated many years to the vast improvements and advancements of this community. I am sure it has taken a tole on him personally sitting down spending hours and hours with code, issues, PMs, and even actually getting to be able to trade for him self.
I do not think you can fathom the responsiblity it takes to keep up a place like this. In my mind you have completely missed the mark on respect and ethics in this trade board, which makes me wonder how you come across in real life.
I hope you seriously consider what you said was outright WRONG and at least apologize to BOB, whether in private or like a man right here on the boards.
If you have such a problem with the way things are going, pack it up and move on to some other un-organized cluster of a cite where you can ramble and insult people at your own whim.

Not trying to change the subject(As I appreciate all you do for TCC Bob), but I think a TCC Trade-A-Thon would not be too hard to run. I believve a group of maybe 3 or 4 people could organize it fairly well. I would be up to taking one of those spots if a few others would like to help me. If you would like to help run the Trade-A-Thon, just shoot a PM my way.

Restraint?

I know how hectic life can be and I know Bob's baby is TCC. It will be until he decides to let it go and I would -imagine- (this is MY assumption) he would tell us when that day is coming.
I don't see that day coming yet.
