I am going to say what all ya think, but never said...Trading here is dead as a doornail! I have no idea what the problem is, but I have a way to fix it...Bring back the Trade-a-Thon!

Thoughts...

Trading is slow for some people, and not so slow for others.

It all depends on what you are trading and what you are trading for.

For example:

Not too many people have Courtney Lee cards which I want to trade for right now. Not too many people have Sammy Sosa cards I want to trade for right now.

It's likely that the economy has an effect on trading too.

I agree, but if ya look at another site that I wont mention, trading happens everyday, regardless of the ecomaony.

They have many more "high-dollar" traders and many more members altogether.

I do agree though that a few things could help. Bring back Trader of the Month on a CONSISTENT basis, and the occasional trade-a-thon might help too.

Whats the Trade-a-Thon?

I don't think any of the newer members (like myself) know what a Trade-a-Tron is. Could someone explain this? Not sure that it is a the moment, but if it would help trading, I'm all for it.

The Trade-a-Thon was/is a 3-5 day period focused on trading. Prizes are awarded...Its fun.

Well it seems that the ustream live chat and trade works well. If we could maybe make a thread or a section like they did for group breaks, people can just link their ustream link and when they are on. It's faster communication and you don't have to wait for the other person to PM you back because often times PM's get overlooked if the person has to many. Just an idea.

I've brought this idea up before, but to no avail. That was even when Bob was active.

I don't think Trade a Thon is going to fix this site's trading woes. It'll take a ton more than that.

I made a master Ustream thread in Everything Else forum. Has'nt realy worked.

I think even bringing back Trader of the Month would help. I remember some months that certain members had fun "battling" to get that award.

Lots of people are thinking about and spending more time at work rather than cards now.

If we want to get something going I'd recommend this - everyone go thru those boxes of stuff you haven't taken the time to list before and we can trade that stuff for a while, instead of buying new boxes.

Saves money, and maybe makes a few trades occur, while we wait for things to return to normal.

I'm just coming back and to me it seems like there's as many completed transactions showing up on the completed transactions threads as there was when I left.

As for myself, I'm just not ready to trade. First and foremost, I have absolutely NO trade bait which I'm going to try to rectify soon, and I still have to get my want list updated.

The biggest thing that I see with trading, and something that has always made me nuts, is when I see a thread that says "Looking to trade" and the only thing in the post is "check my bucket" or even worse, CMB. When someone responds the original poster that is looking to trade responds with "didn't see anything, sorry" and the like. It would greatly help if you would give someone a clue about what you are looking to trade for.

Trader of the Month and Trade-a-Thon would be awesome! Id imagine the Trader of the Month award would be much wasier to set up than the Trade-a-Thon but both are great ideas.

This is perhaps the first out of the thousands of posts of yours that I actually find somewhat funny.

NWGH: If you say you are going to fix the trading problems, actually do something about it!!! Don't just whine and say something and not do it! I mean I understand it if you didn't put that in your title, but you clearly did.

With the Trade-a-Thon, of course Bob would be the only one who could give people the title of "Trade A Thon (X) Winner." However, I'm sure us members can run it without him.

In fact, I am thinking of running one myself. Anyone down for it? If so, I'll set up a contest thread and we can start the first week of March?
