McCants will be an average role player. he might have a nice season in which he averages 15-18 PPG. probably will never make an all-star team. he's destined to be a tweener his entire career. really dont see how this can be a debate? wasnt that great in college. there was no hype surrounding him coming into the NBA. he'll be a nice player, but comparing him to GP? one of the greatest of all-time? c'mon now.

you gotta be kidding me right..Gary Payton if not the best is one of the best point guards of all time..and the great defensive point guard of all time Payton is going to be better without a doubt but McCants will be the better scorer..McCants is going to be like a 27 point guy with 2 rebounds and 4 assists but he is not good defensiveley...at all..Payton will always be the better play hands down but right now if Payton was to play McCants one on one with McCants healthy...McCants would win..honest opinion and the truth hurts

he wasnt that great in college...? only averaged 20 points per game and was the best scorer on his team..not that good i mean they only won he championship and McCants 15 points..lol...his comparrison is Gilbert Arenas you're looking at 28 points a game he can drive he can shoot he can get to the line he averaged 16 points a game the last month of the season so saying he 15-18 thats crazy you dont have to be Jordan to average 26-30 points a game in the league anymore...

a lot of guys average 20 PPG in college. doesnt mean a whole lot. the NBA is a different game. a game with BIGGER players. like I said, McCants will always be a tweener unless he works on his ballhandling. you think he will average 28 PPG? that's more than Wade averaged this year. more than Kobe and LeBron averaged last year. we know how good those guys are. McCants will be that good?

I wouldnt collect McCants if didnt have a ton of potential he is the purest scorer from last years draft and he can do everything well offensivley..drive as well as anybody but shoot as well as anybody too..if he had good defense he would have been a 1-5 pick but the lack of defense brought him down to 14...stil a lottery pick. McCants averaged 16 his last month which showed just a little spark of his future but the fact he is the best offensive player in last years draft and can do anything with the ball being a great passer at shooting guard just shows how far this guy will go...McCants did break the Timberwolves record with rookie fg % and has Kevin Garnett a great passing big man next to him..McCants will be 30 points a game theres more than 10 players in the nba that average more than 24 and McCants will be one of them in afew years

IMO....no contest. There's no way a player who had an average rookie season measures up to one of THE greatest defensive PGs in NBA history.

Who cares about McCants going one-on-one with Payton? Basketball has always been a team game and Payton is one of the ultimate team players. McCants hasn't even shown a microscopic glimpse of being able to make those around him better. IMO, he only had a decent rookie season because he was playing next to the Big Ticket.
