The Titans still won!!! I was out to eat and got to watch part of the game clapping.gif

Paul dropped a pass right to him in the 4th quarter, and there were a couple other passes that should have been caught, but weren't.

Vince Young had a terrible game, and was off target the entire time! He has yet to throw a TD pass in 2 pre-season games. sadwalk.gif Hopefully, this is NOT a sign of things to come.

Still though, the Titans played a great game and stayed in it, and they were able to win on a last second field goal! clapping.gif

Yeah I understand. I don't think he will have a problem though since the receiving core is so bad on the Titans sadwalk.gif

Every pass but the drop PW had this week and the one last week have been under or over thrown to the sideline. That is all I have to say in his defense. He HAS to step up. He shows so much in Camp and practice but it's just not translating to the field.

One big positive about him is his Special Team skills and his ability to be a great down field blocker as a wide out. The 66 yard run by CJ last week & VYs run - PW was blocking. smile.gif

In defense of VY -

I think everyone is forgetting how many INTs he had last year. Even though he didn't have many completions - He made the right read. This is something that excites me. He was pitiful with that last year. So he has stepped that part of his game up.

Maybe we can take Collins arms off of him and put them on VY??

Exactly.

I really enjoy watching the younger guys try and win a roster spot.

As for VY - Last year was a big thumbs down for him - He's playing for his future with this team IMO.

We have a bootleneck with the young receivers....

somebody is going to get cut. I hope they keep Paul but I would put money on Ealy.

1. Gage
2. McCarrins
3. Roydell
4. Jones
5. Davis (FSU) - Special Teams
6. Hawkins
and then

Ealy, Paul Williams, Davis, Edward Williams

TOO Much invested in him...he is here to stay. He just needs a few years in this system, if they can run and he can make some runs...the Titans will be fine.

I believe Dreads Davis is gone. Hawk, CJ & Chris Carr have taken the only job that Davis could possibly still do since he is at the bottom of the WR depth chart.

Roydell being hurt is doing wonders for him. Even though he had a great year - This is his 4th season. Unless he gets the chance to show his skills have improved since his amazing season last year - I can see him getting cut as well.

Gage - McCarreins - Hawkins are the only safe WRs in my mind.

Do you think things would be clicking better for VY if Sweed was on the roster with him?

It was a bad year, but if he has one this year, I don't think he will be gone. Who else will replace him that will do better next year...Martin or Kollins?

Vince's deep pass to Scaife (in double-coverage) was very close to an interception.

I like Vince Young, but he really needs to work on improving the passing game.

im still holding a bit of hope for VY. but he has grown at a snail pace!

Nope. I think VY could have all the guys he had in Texas or all Elite receivers and still play the way he does.

He's making good reads so far this preseason but the throws are just awful.

I don't think he'll be gone next year if he has a bad year this season either. I just think the Titans will not be as hopeful about VY being their franchise QB.

Well, I don't think they have the high ceiling for him as they did on draft day. He's turned out to be a bad pick for them, and it's sad because he's one of my favorite players! sadwalk.gif

The Titans 1st team D looks amazing tonight.

I think CJ is finding out that he can't run sideline to sideline like he could in the pros. Three kick returns and I don't believe one has crossed the 20.

VY looks very good tonight. Lots of pocket presence, making the right reads and great throws. The 4 drop passes by the 1st team WR/TEs does not help out.
baseballguy601

He's not the player he once was, but it should still be a HUGE improvement!
tex333
Vince has a great arm and is a very smart player. But even Peyton Manning wouldn't be able to do anything without decent WR's. With the exception of Crumpler, the rest of the core is sub par. I think this is his break out year. He needed a little bit of time to figure out the NFL, I honestly think this year is his year to explode. This is coming from someone who's seen all of his games since he was a Junior in High School.

His receiving core is sub-par, so how do you expect him to have a break out year? I mean I hope he does, and he looked better last night, but I think the Titans will need to make a move to get a decent WR if they expect to make the playoffs.

The addition of Crumpler is going to do wonders for him. He's going to create with his feet alot more this year too.

He's a pro bowl caliber player. All I said was he was going to do wonder's for Vince by providing a big target that he obviously hasn't had in the NFL. All Vince need's is one target, if you dont know what I'm talking about, watch the Rose Bowl 2005.

His passing decisions aren't always "smart". His technique isn't the greatest either (often throwing off of his back foot).

I like VY though - which is why I have a small collection of him. I hope he can improve.

College doesn't compare.
Crumpler can be just good as he was in Atlanta, but if Vince can't throw the ball to him, it won't do 'wonders'.
ffman
Exactly. Look at Eric Crouch and tons of other NFL busts. I hope Vince doesn't become one of them, though.

I'm so excited for Sunday against the Jags.
I can't wait to see Chris Johnson get the ball!
baseballguy601
The Titans open their season at home Sunday at 1 vs. the Jaguars.

Titans will definitely win this game.

21-13.

Vince Young with 2 TD passes, Crumpler catches one.
Chris Johnson gets 79 yards on 11 rushes.

Well I was close on the score as it was 17-10
Way off on VY as he threw only 1 TD pass and threw 2 interceptions (and looked a lot like last season as he went 12-22 with 110 yards) sadwalk.gif
I was also way off on Alge, as he was also a non-factor and only caught 1 pass for 4 yards.

CJ looked great and as he ran for 93 yards on 15 rushes and caught 3 catches for 34 yards and a TD.

A lot like this past season, VY was mediocre, but not horrendous, and the defense held on to pull out the win. clapping.gif

IF Vince wants to keep his job, he needs to stop throwing those interceptions. The one was a horrible throw right at the defender. sad.gif

Im a Titans fan and let me say this: The Jaguars have Vince's number. Everytime the titans play the jags he gets shutdown. he has horrible games. Fortuanetely, the defense pulls through almost every time.

P.S. Did anyone hear the announcer when haynesworth got the sack at the end?

"Garrard under pressure, Garrard, SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
ffman
What a showing by our defense, especially the defensive line and Cortland Finnegan.

I hope Vince can recover both from the injury and the poor performance.

Apparently a strained left knee.

Fisher said that it didn't appear to be serious, but they were going to perform tests on the knee to find out the true problem.
