Rudest- Troy Smith (######)
honorable mention- Chad Johnson, our Cincinnati store had him in for a signing and afterward he took the employees working to finish line and bought them a pair of shoes and his jersey! They all said he was a great guy!

Yeah a lot of guys we have in are pretty boring...Hawk is great though he was making fun of Brady Quinn during our private signing, since his wife was there with the rest of Quinn's family.
Charlie Frye is another weenie, and another QB...and Carson Palmer only does private signings now! ($275 per signature)

Nicest:
Baseball: Jeff Francoeur - Always willing to carry a conversation with his fans before the game
Football: David Carr - We went to the same high school, so when we dedicated our football field to him, I had the opportunity in meeting him. Very genuine.
Basketball: Shaquille O'Neal - When you carry a conversation with this guy, you can't help but have a sense of humor.
Rudest:
Haven't come across any in person.

I have to say the only 2 professional atheletes I have met, as pros. Met a few when they were in college at Oklahoma State Ventura being the one, is incredibly nice.
But back to the topic at hand. When the Hornets were in OKC for the 2 years. We went to the mall on the day before they played the Heat. Shaq, D-Wade had this massive following of people just staring at him. He looked like a monster amongst the people. The crazy thing, Alonzo Morning was standing by the elevator, with absolutley no one around him. My son and I went up to him, said hi, and thanked him for his time. Was really nice. Didn't feel like it was the right time to ask for an autograph, since they weren't at autograph signings, after a game, or something like that. They were out being real people, and I would hate it if I had to deal with that, so I refuse to do that to them.

Nicest- Adrian Peterson. I'm sure some here have read the thread where I posted this, but I have to say it again. Adrian Peterson lives in my neighborhood, a couple houses down. I decided to go trick or treating on Halloween for 30 minutes or so. My brother and I went to his house after a couple others around our house. We expected his brother to open the door or for the lights to be totally shut off. When we rang the door bell, to our surprise the man himself, Adrian Peterson, opened the door. Man, he seems tall in person! My brother and I chat with him for a little bit and he hands out signed pictures (slightly bigger than 8 by 10s) to us and a couple other people. He also signed one of my cards!
He was just so down to earth, especially for such a star!! Not only that but he told us to come back for candy, since he had run out. We did after about 30 minutes, and he kept his word. So Halloween ended, with my bro and I getting signed pics, a signed card, and candy from Adrian Peterson.
Haha, sorry for the long read but it was SWEET!
Rudest- I've only gone to a few player signings and games for in person autos, but I haven't really had a rude encounter yet. The rudest would be Soriano saying he'd sign in a few but instead went to the dugout and ignored us. Not that much of a big deal though.

There's a tie for the nicest athlete I've ever met..the first has to be Jeremy Roenick, hands down. I met him for the first time at a Kings game this year, I was watching him warm up near the away bench and I was just sitting there, cheering him on; while everyone else booed him (probably for the time he spent in LA); and he seemed really glad that he had fans there. When I walked over to the tunnel to see him off before the game started, he told me to hand him the jersey I had on, and he gave me an autograph and told me to watch him during the game! After he got an assist on his first goal, he gave his usual fist pump, and skated over to the side of the ice I was sitting on, pointed at me and gave me a little wink. After the game, the Sharks ended up losing--and I got over to the tunnel and wished the Sharks well. Roenick came by and thanked me for being such an enthusiastic fan, and handed me his stick and told me "I'll sign it for you the next time you see me." JR's easily one of my favorite hockey players now.
The other, is Patrick Willis. I went to a 49ers training camp one day, and decided not to badger the players and ask for their autographs as they went home for the day, so I sat on a bench waiting for my ride. Patrick walked over to my bench, and saw that I was wearing a 52 Willis jersey, and asked me why I didn't want an autograph, and I just told him that I didn't feel like taking up his time. He laughed, got out a pen, and gave me an autograph. He was such a nice person to talk to, so humble and kind--what all athletes should be, grateful for their fans.
Sorry to rant guys..haha.

I'm sure he's nice when there's not 300 people screaming at him for an auto.
The 2nd time I met him there was only 3-5 people around, so he was more into signing autos and talking. If it wasn't for meeting him that time, I probably would say he was the rudest player in all of the NFL.

The nicest player I ever met was marcellus wiley when he played for the bills. I took a picture of him crying holding his daughter after a game. I blew it up and had him sign it, I kept the negative and also blew up another to 16x20. I told him when he retires I have something that he will want. Before he left the bills he and his wife got a divorce, I felt bad so I sent him the picture when he was with San Diego, the next week, I received a package in the mail. It was a pair of signed shoes with his phone number inside the shoe. I called him and he said you don't know how much that meant to me. He sent me a jersey, and I met him at a Jags game, he is the most classy guy in the world. I still talk to him till this day.

My brother played for a while as a rookie in 98 and he didn't make the roster for the Browns, but I met a lot of nice people. I still collect some cards for guys that don't have cards of them. Like two years ago, I was collecting daimon Shelton many people might not know him, but I would pick up his cards on ebay or naxcom and send them to him. He would in return give me gloves signed, and stuff like that. I am doing it now for Ko Simspon.

Nicest Player: Matt Barnes. When I Matt Barnes was a bruin and I was alot younger I used to go down to the floor and you could high five the players as they went back into the locker room. He was giving everyone a high five and after he gives me a high five I feel something fall from my head. He gave me the wrist band that he wore in the game. Needless to say, their is a reason that Matt Barnes is my favorite NBA Player.

WOw I only wish I had stories like that!
Nicest(and it's weak):
Last year I was at a Tides game. The Tides signed some autos and over on the other side I saw... Evan Longoria! I( had his auto from Bowman and was pumped to see him! I ran over faster than my 13 year old legs could carry me. When I saw him he was walking over. Unfortunatley, there were like 10 guys with huge stacks of his RCs(most likley for ebay). I was kinda dissapointed and before I could turn around he walked right over to me! No he didn't hand me a ball, no stick either, not even a conversation. But he wasn't stuck up, he didn't ignore me! I would have(and wish I could) collect him, but he is getting to pricey!
Essix Sneed:
Again a Tides game about 2 years ago. The Tides were embarassed, and it was dissapointing. Everybody was leaving and I was walking past the Tides dugout. I saw a game ball sitting on top of the dugout, but it was way on the other side. I saw Essix pop his head out of the dugout. I said Hi, and he said hi. he then pushed me the ball and told me thanks for coming. I was so pumped I couldn't belive it!
So someday I hope I'll post a story like you guys have. But for now, these stories are awsome and I cherish them!

Nicest- Pedro And Jeromer Williams
I was at Mets Spring Training this year in florida. All of the mets players were nice by signing autos if you could fid them with no one around. Pedo Martinez for about an hour just sat on the practie field signing autos for kids only. All the kids waited on a line to get his auto. You could get whatever you wanted autod and any amount. I got a ball...i didnt want to be rude. I told him that i was big met fan and he said LETS GO METS... my dad even took a picture with me and him Go pedro
Jerome Williams
AKA Junkyard Dog
Well i was a a knicks game about 3 years ago. I was sitting in the upper section in the nosebleeds. My friend and I really liked Jerome Williams because of his hustle so we made a sign. During a timout we held up the sign and starting cheering. Some other player in the huddle taped him on the shoulder and pointed to us. He gave us a wave and a HUGE fist pump. That was great!

Nicest- The North Carolina State Football Defense... I went to their final home game of the year this season when they were losing 37-0 to Maryland. The whole team was sitting there and they took their defeat like men, they had a laugh about it with the fans behind them and they talked about football with us. (two nflers in the bunch too dajuan morgan and demario pressley.) I got to chat with them like they were just other fans and friends. After the game, they gave the crowd who had remained a standing ovation and started throwing out their gear as souveniers. Gloves, hats, athletic tape, anything they could give out. (I ended up getting the armband from willie young, who is their BEAST of a defensive end, still have that up in my room with my football "shrine." That was a blowout of my team, but probably the best game ever...
Rudest: None really, although nick markakis (orioles) would have to be up there. I still havent seen him sign before games like the others do. I have three batting practice balls in cases with o's sigs all over them from the few games i get to attend anymore. still waiting for nick... haha

So i completey skip nick greisend and luckily get eli. He signed a total of 10 that day and i was one. Well next up was jeremy shockey and he signs maybe 1 at each end. But you have to almost get in his way. So i stuck my arms out as far as i could, and well i got his signature. Another jerk was ricky watters, my bosses and i got to delived chicken holiday to the seahawks bus one day after a game against the jets and all the guys were mad cool, cept watters.

Nicest:
Pedro Martinez- Most stars don't tend to sign very much, especially staring pitchers. I mean, it's his day off, the last thing you'd think he's want to do is go out into the left field corner with a stoll and sit and talk with fans for a solid hour before the game. He signed everything people handed to him, especially for the kids. We just sat around and listened to him; he really had no problem talking for an hour straight.
David Oritiz- When he was originally signed by the sox I first met him while he and Damian Jackson were standing in front of the sox dugout and trying to throw baseballs over the monster. I goota say, it was really cool to watch. Papi was being papi, joking with the fans and creating an all around great atmosphere at the ballpark. They both signed for the fans and talked for awhile. This past year, Papi was walking up the left field line before the game and decided to sign. He signed around 10 because it was around 10-15 minutes before the game, but he borrowed a fans cell phone and supposedly made a long distance call to the dominican, lol. needless to say, he signed a couple for that guy.
Worst:
Julio Lugo- He routinely promises autographs on his way out of the dugout to warm up, and just runs right back in.
Special Mention:
Josh Beckett- Although he's not a big signer(A competitor like him certainly isn't thinking about that before a game) before every game he pitches, he runs along the first base line and hands the baseball he warmed up with to a little kid.

You know I have done tons and tons of people in person and there are a plentiful amount of nice guys, but I would have to say one of the nicest is Kobe. He used to sign everytime he came into Boston full sig K-O-B-E, but ever since he signed a new contract with Upper Deck hes become rougher, you will get KB8 but the thing I respect about it, is he will tell you straight to your face sorry guys its a business thing, he doesnt lie. He still signs its just a grabage signature. I mean theres guys that wont even touch a pen he has everytime for me.
The rudest most ignorant jerk I have ever met is LeBron James. I had him in New Jersey, one on one in an elevator and he still said no. Hes a jerk I got him twice when they played the summer league in boston his rookie season, but unfortunatley my collection was stolen during a move once and I dont have either, but that is the only time I saw him sign.
