In lieu of creating a new thread every time something exciting happens with my Buffalo Bills, I figured there are enough Bills fans on TCC to keep this thread going!

Oh, and check this out from nfl.com/draft

I read the end of that and thought you were losing faith in Edwards laugh.gif

you guys are building a great young base, your 07 draft was fantastic!

Thanks! 08 wasn't to shabby either! Picked up a much needed replacement to Nate Cements, a big target opposite of Evans and hopefully Derek Fine at TE can play as well as he has been doing in his early rookie workouts. I haven't been this excited to be a Bills fan since "Flutie Flakes"!! laugh.gif Now if we can just trade JP Losman for.....uh....uh....i dont know....a bathroom attendant maybe?? Everyone loves a clean restroom! blink.gif

Donte Whitner's thoughts on the newly vamped Buffalo offense:

"Any time you have a guy that's 6'5" or 6'6" with the speed that he has and with Lee (Evans) on the other side and guys like Roscoe (Parrish) and Josh (Reed) in the slot, you have a dangerous receiving corps," Whitner said. "So now when we get down in the red zone we don't have to come up with little schemes or tricks to try to get in the end zone. You can just throw the ball up to him and if he's double covered that means Lee is probably singled up. And I'm taking Lee 95 percent of the time against any corner in the league one-on-one. If you try to double both of them you have a guy like Roscoe in the slot. And I don't believe that anybody can cover him one-on-one in the slot in true man to man. I truly don't believe it. So now you have a very dangerous receiving corps."

ESPN's Power Rankings put the Buffalo Bills at 19th...is this too high, too low or just right?

too low. We will win the east this year. Watch. Youth will prevail

i agree trent edwards and marshawn lynch are great building blocks for the future. they worked on upgrading the 0-line last year and that is where you need to start.

just look at what the browsn did last year after adding eric stienbach and joe thomas to the line.

degibson84 - very true about the O-Line, I'm a firm believer that the game is won in the trenches!

I keep looking at the roster and it looks as though we've filled just about every hole that we had from last year. The defense looks solid with our off-season pick ups and Pos hopefully healthy for the entire year. The offense has gotten stronger with the acquisition of Hardy, Fine and Viti...but the biggest hole yet to fill is a big receiving TE. Royal is a bust, has been a bust and always will be...surely we are going to target one in next years draft, so I've come up with a list of prospects that I will be keeping a close eye on this year in college football:

Andrew Quarless, 6-5 252 Penn State = my pick
Chase Coffman, 6-6 245 Missouri
Ryan Purvis, 6-4 260, Boston College
Brandon Pettigrew 6-6 260 OKlahoma ST

small but worth watching:

Cornelius Ingram 6-4 230, Florida
Travis Beckum 6-4 221, Wisconsin

Fitzpatrick gets the nod.... LINK

QUOTE
About an hour before Bills coach Dick Jauron was fired, a report surfaced that Ryan Fitzpatrick was set to take over the starting quarterback job.

There's no way to know yet whether this was a similar case to the infamous Rob Johnson-over-Doug Flutie decision that was attributed to Bills owner Ralph Wilson.  But Fitzpatrick will get the call this week in the end.

Interim head coach Perry Fewell confirmed the news at his Wednesday press conference after delaying the decision Tuesday.  Fitzpatrick's numbers are much worse than those of Trent Edwards, but the Bills went 2-1 in the games he was heavily involved in.

This demotion is a major career setback for Edwards, who appears to have lost most of the support he has in the building.

Edwards is signed through 2010, so next year's head coach will have to decide if he's starting material.
