I just realized that I rolled past the decade mark in January.....it got me to thinking how much I've changed and how much this site has changed.
I'm a transplant from Sports Card Sheriff. I was only on that site for 3 months before TCC took it over. The only person I remember from there is Chuck17. He was here for a bit, but I haven't seen him on any board in recent memory.
When I first started on these sites, I was all about the business. My goal was the bottom line. Owned some nice stuff.....sold some nice stuff......wish I had back some of the stuff that I sold. But that's the way it goes. Got married, took a break, had a kid.....re-upped on all about the bottom line only to be screwed over by Paypal (long story.....makes me wonder if bearcat might have been telling the truth though).....took some time off.....started the Wall of Cards project with my youngest son....he was 2 at the time.....now I don't really care about the value of the cards, rarely look at Beckett, tend to guesstimate on values when making trades, and tend to be more concerned with the stories behind the players on those cards, especially the forgotten players and whozits.
When I come out of my head, I look around here and it seems like an empty house, a shell of its former self and full of memories. I'll never forget the late nights hanging out with Johnny5, making deals, talking sports and music.
I'll never forget Dodgerblue's stories about packlets.
I'll never forget some of the complete knockdown, drag out fights that were had in the politics forum.
I'll never forget Mister_x always stirring the pot...only to get suspended and then come back and do it all over again.
Or the positive leadership and examples of aceecards, RGBII, road_runner_63, Tarasadie, and bajmurray. Kids, if you want to learn how to be men, these are the names you should seek out.
Most of all, I really miss seeing "Collect Hard!" at the end of posts.
It's been fun the past 10 years. I hope I get to say the same in another 10.
Collect Hard!

QUOTE(aceecards @ Jun 23 2017, 04:45 PM) congrats on the "decade-nt", you are a fine trader and even better human in my opinion! I look forward to meeting you and your family some day. There are a lot of folks i miss here and honestly some i dont. I think the remaining folks who visit regularly are a fine group of collectors in one form or another. Sure I wish there were more but it is what it is and I am always thankful for what i got. Some of the crew stopped collecting, some grew up got jobs got married had kids took pauses etc., some Died that is the way of this thing called life. So yes "Collect Hard!" Yep. Change is inevitable. It isn't necessarily better or worse.......it's just different. I agree the regulars here are a fine group. The ones who have stayed realize this site is about more than just trading and collecting, but also about community and that's something you don't really see in the other forums. One positive: scammers don't waste their time in here anymore. Collect Hard!

Time sure does fly by with everything you are involved with. I have not been on as much and just realized after updating some things on my profile, I too passed 10 years of being a member of TCC last October. Boy has this site changed since then.

Yes, been getting back into my collection, buying packs and going over my lists. Joined a couple of collecting groups on Facebook, have yet to do anything on there yet. I don't quite know what to make of them yet, they seem pretty well organized and administrated. Only drawback for me is they require Paypal to buy or sell, so I may just stick to trading as much as possible.

It should be obvious since they are SOCIAL sites, but I just think of them as places to trade cards. As for Facebook my biggest reason for NOT joining any of them is that I don't want to bore family and close friends, and especially just acquaintances with my trading card obsession. Just as I wouldn't want to see a friend's obsession with Doll Collecting on my Facebook newsfeed. Yes yes I know there are ways to block, manage who sees what on your social media sites, but they are not foolproof and sometimes there are leaks.

I've just observed how they are managed and they are a stickler for their rules. Heaven forbid you post a card and it's not oriented the right way or if your sharing a card you pulled and don't put PC/NFS/NFT. Posts get deleted. And don't ask an admin why it was deleted, they just answer with read the rules. Or with Aaron Judge being in demand people posting every card they pull and the haters come out complaining about all the Judge posts.
