QUOTE(ISLP55 @ Jun 23 2012, 12:34 PM)
The gas price one does not work any more...UNTIL the election is over. Like in years past.  Usually it is the liberals crying "foul" stating it is only a election time ploy by the republican's to garner votes.  I think both parties use gas prices as a club to beat American over the head. We need to do away with the EPA and the DEQ; remove the road blocks and start to build many oil refineries and drill everywhere. I remember the days when I would ride the big pumps where my grandfather worked. There is the key word, "Worked"---America had jobs!
*

The sitting president has little to do with current gas prices. It fluctuates constantly.

Gas is lower today than I can remember it being in a long time - and it's not because of Obama or Bush. Nor was the high gas prices last year or in the summer of 2008 Obama's or Bush's fault.

But, if it's high - the other party likes to point it out and place blame (see Steve's image above).

QUOTE(ISLP55 @ Jun 23 2012, 03:04 PM)
There in lies part of the problem. The old adage, it is a recession until you lose your job, then it is a depression, or this one, I did nothing when they gourd my neighbors ox and then they came to gore mine and there was no one left to help me.

Liberals cry and use hatful verbiage such as calling us "raciest", so we back down and concede. They march and we back off. We want less regulation and they claim we want dirty water and air; so we back off not wanting to be seen in this light. The only way to stop a bully is to show them their own blood. We stopped water boarding to get vital intel because some whiny liberal thought it cruel; I say whatever it takes and at all costs to save innocent lives. Our own boys get water boarded to know the effects before they apply it to others.  I am not pro destruction of the environment or the inhumane treatment of other human beings without just cause, but I am an America first guy. Let the other guy die for his cause. It has always cost  the blood of a few so we may have the freedom to type words like these from the comfort of our homes. I will oppose the ideas like Richards to the last breath, but I will fight to the death for his right to say them. That is the difference between us and them...they do not want us to have this freedom (maybe not Richard per say) but the liberal ideology at its base does not like opposing views and does use any means it can to get good people to back off. I have faced death on behalf of others more than once...the just for the just...let the bad guy die when they attempt to destroy a life of an innocent in any way.
*

I understand, maybe I like your view's on what your saying, but wouldnt talk about it here on a Sports card site, and I'm not taking side's with no one, I liked Bush jr. made a couple of bad choices, but neither the less, he did his best, just like Obama, I dont think any President that is elected will fix the mess we are in! it will take at least a decade to fix things!

Gas Price's, I say Drill, Drill, Drill in the United State's, I have to deal with DEQ at work, alomost killed my job with high fines when they came to my shop! Lighten up, the world will not end next week, try billions of years from now! The States have plenty Oil in Alaska!

Food stamps, went 16yrs not getting it, and I went and applied for it, $48 dollars a month they offered, lol! What can I buy with that! I did get health care for my kids, which I had paid for myself when they were born till this year when my work took that away! I wont take from the Goverment that I dont need, get a second job, cut grass or something, lazy people looking for a free hand out while they sit and do nothing but wait for the mailman each month!

I will stop at this, like I said I dont like talking about it, so many things and different views that will be said that will come down to a big fight between everyone, what we dont need is a civil war on our hands! laugh.gif

Steve, I am not out to change Richard,I am out to let him know I am out here. I do not hold any ill feeling toward him on a base human level. However I took it personal, that he, while having a dog in the fight, took it upon himself to use his position and apply the letter of agreement of this site to further his position is this tit for tat political argument . I once started an investigation into my partners actions under suspicion of a criminal matter, once I had hard evidence my hunch was correct, I turned the case over to someone else as competent as myself with the same authority. The end result was the same, jail for them; I could have done the same job and could have put my name on the paper work and got the arrest, but I let someone else, that did not have a personal attachment to the individual, work the case to remove any assumed partiality or vendetta.
I appreciate the advice Steve and we have been on this site for a very long time, but I was careful, I think, to not directly use Richards name when retorting his liberal ideology. Like as to a Senator on the floor...he imply's toward a certain member without actually using the other Senators name; the IMPLIED is understood but the letter of decorum not broke, but the spirit of decorum understands. People like the rules as long as they long as they can use them to further themselves. I believe the spirit of laws and rules are sometimes more important for they demand more wisdom and intelligence than does the letter. Any idiot can use the letter of the law, but it takes men with honor and wisdom to apply the spirit of a law. The letter demands justice be served but the spirit allows for grace. e.g. when I wrote :ali and buda"; the letter was used to call me on it, while the spirit would have understood who I was speaking of and that I was degrading those two ideologies. For the sake of the letter I will explain: If my spelling throughout the post was wrong or my thoughts were unclear, then I could see the spirit of what I did being misunderstood---but the letter must be applied by, as he stated, the "unabashed liberal" to try to make me look like I did not know what I was doing. I do not care to much for Ali either Richard.

I agree to a point...directly they have no power. Go back if you can find it at the trends of gas prices in election years. I believe you will see a pattern. Nothing about gas price is a coincidence. IMO

Redwing...I am glad we have a place like this, even if it is on a sportscard site. That is the best of America...is it not? thanks, glad to know your out there.

politics are a weird subject, everyone seems to have their opinion and protects it more so than their wordly possessions!

myself, I find it fun to bash especially when it is a stupid idea and adversely affects us all. There are other times when things make sense, maybe not for the one but for the whole.

its all set in the interpretations We make about government. My interpretation is govenrment is a huge waste of money, its one of the oldest business in the world, like religion and prostitution, that prey on humans fears or needs for companionship.

I personally could do without all three.

They cost me a huge sum of money, gratification, if any, is for a fleeting glimpse, and the promises are usually empty or I have to wait until im gone to reap the rewards. laugh.gif

Please, Mr. Perry, do not assume my motives. You have
no idea(s) about my character or lack thereof.

Cussing is a sore point with me, I loathe it. It is an affront to
communication. It doesn't even add emphasis to ones
conversation or dialogue these days. I will support and enforce
its prohibition on this site.

You were called out due to the implied profanity, as I stated
earlier. My political leanings are another matter altogether. They
are no more or less relevant than your own. I completely understand
and acknowledge that you are "on your post and vigilant" in your beliefs/philosophies. Good for you, you have earned my sincere
respect for that principled stand.

If you feel that I abused my "authority" in any way, I apologize,
as it was not my intent. I take a great deal of pride in my writing,
nonetheless, it has been misinterpreted before and I have no
doubts that it will happen again.

That stated, know this for a fact, I will attack, design, print and
distribute creative, thoughtful and scathing responses to filth like
this . . .

Richard,
What I am fixing to say is for you and has nothing to do with the rules of this board and the policy of writing certain words. That said so as not to receive back any thing about you (Richard) saying you were talking about the rules. I understand them.
The context of what you call cursing or implied thereof, was not cursing per say. The context was such, I was calling carter a "donkey" and yes, there in lies a derogatory meaning based on usage. If you are as up on the use of language in context, as you seem, you would understand that I was not using it to call carter the gluteus maximus, but a donkey. I guess if I would not have blocked the two "S's" it would seem more likely that I was talking about a donkey, I did it out of habit more than anything. I think, do to, the subject matter and your politically leanings, you misinterpreted my meaning. You said,"I take a great deal of pride in my writing, nonetheless, it has been misinterpreted before and I have no doubts that it will happen again." I did not place an adjective in the sentence because I could not find an alternative word to express my thought, the word was part of my thought.
If you (not this forum) are offended by the word I wrote; Pray tell, why are you going to Tampa to be in a crowd of people where I am sure that your ears and eyes will be loaded with fowl verbiage? If you limiting your offense to this forum only, okay. I have no problem with you on this board Richard. But as a man of 50 and years of dealing with people in many walks of life, your track record speaks louder than your underlined words both politically and the choice to take the lead in dealing with the breaking of a rule. I am not angered, nor do I have an animosity toward you. I still question your decision to call me out on a post you started and one in which you have a vested interest. I am sure if we met on the street we could sit and drink a cup of coffee and you would find I am the same in person as I am on these boards. I do not a**ume your motives or your character...Your words and thoughts speak to that as do mine. I do judge people by their words, actions and the tone of their writings (in person I judge the inflection of words and body language).

As to the slide show: I did not find it as advertised.
I thought most were Funny as the ones made of Bush. Some I thought were in poor taste and poorly made. Some where funny, truthful and well made. I am not offended by any of these or the ones equal to these your side makes attacking my beliefs.

"That stated, know this for a fact, that I will attack, design, print and distribute creative, thoughtful and scathing responses to filth like this . . ."

Wow, I'd say that's a problem---ATTACK!!! FILTH!!! You need to look at your side's signs a bit more without the rose colored glasses.

I do not get offended by signs, but by action.
Hilter did not burn cardboard...he burned HUMANE BEINGS that's hate!!!

I never worried about the guy I was arresting calling me kkk, telling me to pro create with myself, calling my wife a lady of the night, that he was going to kill me or other such verbiage. I worried about a knife, gun, or his fist, feet, head and teeth. I never went to the hospital over words, but I did many times from fist, feet, head and teeth (was blessed to never have a true weapon used on me, like some of my partners). I even believe in the right for this scum them to say those things, even though they saying them about me and mine. It's called the 1st Amendment. (Your guy flint helped that one out, remember?) Your side and my side are not physically harming anyone with there signs. SO WHAT!!! Both sides spew hate and act racist... my track record shows I do neither. I do hate the actions of obama and his socialist policies destroying this Great Country, but that is different than hating the man.

Why the picture of my flag, the Battle Flag of the South. I have one on my helmet, along with an American flag.(I hate wearing a helmet, one of the stupid laws) A lot of homes in my area have the US flag on poles in their front yards and beside it at on a slightly lower standard the Battle flag of the South. Anti christ, I don't think so...obama's not the right race, color, religion, not of the linage of David, he was not born in Bethlehem...Plus some other things.

JP

Obviously Obamacare works too. You knew what I was talking about. wink.gif

Either way, if this country is as smart as I think they are we won't have to worry about it because the Repubs will win the Presidency, take over the Senate, keep the House, and repeal it.

SO true...when a polititian (either side) thinks something is "good" they do not mind calling it by another name, i.e. obamercare, Bush Tax Cuts, etc... But when it turns to bite them in the "gluteus maximus", they want it called by the real name so as to distance themselves.

Richard you are correct, it has been sold by every administration in the past 23 years; but even more so the last 3 years.

I can't wait to pay into the tax!

Anyways, lately I've began to take somewhat of a notice, I wouldn't call it an interest, in politics. I usually stay outside the glass and try to look into it and see the inside. Watched both candidates give their speeches and lectures or what not. Only 1 thing comes to mind when they mention Obama and Romney.

Yeah, to every other country that is going to end up loaning us the money to pay for this Obamacare that we can't afford!!

Mike, you know I love ya but every time I hear someone spew fallacies about the PPACA I lose a little hope in American people. We cannot be as dumb as other countries think we are.

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office the deficit will be reduced by $210 billion over 10 years and there are $808 billion in tax credits to low-income and middle-class families to help them afford health insurance over the next 11 years.

This so called tax will only affect higher incomes and doesnt even fully come into action until 2016. And no one mentions the exemptions for low-income people and families.

The Penalty/Tax does not apply to:
-Individuals who cannot afford coverage
-Taxpayers with income below filing threshold
-Other Hardships

Romney is a hypocrite of the worst kind because the PPACA is based off of his blueprint as a senator in Massachusetts. The economy of Massachusetts is one of the strongest in the nation and they love their healthcare. The fact he is against the PPACA is mind boggling and truthfully IMHO the turning point in his campaign. I like to believe that the American people cannot be that stupid and see straight through him. I believe he shot himself in the foot and I cannot wait until for the debates.

Instead of listening to all these talking points from the left and right people need to research and fact check anything you hear.

Either way, if this country is as smart as I think they are we won't have to worry about it because the Repubs will win the Presidency, take over the Senate, keep the House, and repeal it.

Romney wont win. He just shot himself in the foot by making PPACA is focus point for his campaign. He's out of touch with reality, the average person and BLATANTLY spews lies. They had the audacity to call president Obama an Elitist.... Romney makes him look like a peasant. Even the people on the right admit he's horrible. And lets not forget the American people arent ready for a Mormon president... It will never happen brother. wink.gif It will never happen. tongue.gif

Quoting numbers by the left leaning, partisan, CBO won't get you anywhere with me or probably anyone else.

According to Charles Blahous, who was appointed by Obama and oversees the finances for Social Security and Medicare, those numbers are completely skewed by the federal government's (poor) accounting practices and that Obamacare will actually increase the deficit by $346 billion from 2012-2021, which is his "optimistic" estimate.

Find his report here.

Who determines who can, and can't, afford health care? Can I just send a letter in to the government and let them know that I can't afford it? My guess: probably not.

Brother, Blahous was a George W. Bush economic policy adviser. wink.gif Secondly, read his report from beginning to end... You cant pick and choose where to apply his logic and reasoning...

By Blahousís accounting, debt as a percentage of GDP would drop to almost zero by 2050. Thatís essentially equivalent to the drop predicted by Paul Ryanís latest ďPath to ProsperityĒ budget. If Blahousís accounting framework is accurate, there is no long-term debt problem and thus no need for the GOPís 2013 budget proposal.

To prove his report is nonsense Rep. Ryan and his republican cronies didnt even use Blahous's baseline in their own budget plans. No one took his report serious, not even his peers. That report was bogus. Itís really not even saying anything in particular about the Affordable Care Act. Itís saying that the baseline we use to assess all legislation ó from Obamacare to Paul Ryanís budget ó is wrong. And itís saying that we actually donít have a deficit problem at all.

Plenty of health care reform skeptics are praising Blahous's study. But no right wing politicians are using his baseline, so that should tell you its not factual. If it was, they'd be using it and quoting from it.

The fact is, the CBO has determined that a repeal would increase the deficit by $147 billion. Brother this worm hole gets DEEP.

The center where Blahous works was partly founded by none other than Charles Koch and he's still a board member there. Koch and his brother have personally donated over $40 million and helped raise over $100 million to defeat President Obama. The founder of the center where Blahous works use to head the Koch Industries lobbyist operations in D.C and he's the current president of the Koch charitable foundation. Everyone knows who the Koch brothers are and the power they hold.... No one takes that report serious.

Mike, this political wormhole is deep brother......

To be quite honest, Jeremy, I find it extremely difficult to believe what anyone has to say on the matter because it's all just speculation. Nobody REALLY knows what this bill is going to do to our deficit and our already out of control debt problem. I know one thing is for sure, though, "giving" healthcare to millions more Americans is going to cost a LOT of money, and I don't believe it is the rich's responsibility to take care of us. They didn't become successful playing Robin Hood games.

I'm still unsure how a tax return can adequately determine who can, and can't, afford health care. Will they draw a line at a specific dollar number? If that number is $20,000/year, what if someone makes $20,001/year. How is someone who makes $1/year any more able to pay for Obamacare? Is that all it's going to cost, is $1/year?

Yes, according to the numbers in place now, if they don't change (which I find highly unlikely), I will not have to pay the tax. However, that still doesn't make me think it's right.

I never asked for help, especially not from the government. I was raised to believe that if I wanted something, I would just have to work my tail off for it. I've never had, nor have I ever wanted, anything given to me as if I "deserve" it for some fairytale reason.

Furthermore, if I wanted to live in a socialist country I'd simply pack my things up and move to one.

Good Debate. I have one Question;

When has ANY budget projection by CBO, Prez, Repubs, Demos, since the inception of the lie called social security or welfare EVER come in right on or below estimate?
