Today's update will have a odd story behind it. Matt Hughes was signing for free in Rockford which is about an hour from me. My wife is an UFC fan so she wanted to go more than me. She wanted a pic taken with him. Doesn't really care about autographs. But if she was going to join me that means we would need to bring the kids with. No biggie. Twin 3.5 year old girls. One of my daughters is not able to stand or walk yet and is in a wheelchair.

We arrive right as it was starting and there was maybe 20 people in front of us. I had brought with a few 8x10's plus a pair of UFC gloves a friend has asked me to get for him. I gave the gloves to my wife and I held the photos. When we walked up he asked my wife who he should make the gloves out to. She didn't know my friends name so I stepped in and said "Jason". Matt looks up at me and ask me if I am Jason. I tell him I am not and they are for a friend who could not make it. I dont think Matt believed me because he then asked me what I was going to do with him after he signed them. I told him give them to Jason because they are his gloves lol. He personalized and signed a photo for both the kids and for my wife and I.

When we got to the front door to leave Matt stood up and called for my wife to come back to the table. I assumed she had forgotten something. He began asking her why one of my girls was in a wheelchair and if she will ever be able to walk and all those types of questions. My wife answered each one and Matt responded with "i will pray for her tonight". I really made my wife feel good.

After hearing and seeing that I figured I would jump back in line to get a couple more photos signed so that I could donate them. Another friend of mine is doing a charity event for the special Olympics. Considering the conversation he just had with my wife I assumed it would be no issue.

When I got back up to the table I asked him if he could put "Thanks for supporting the special Olympics" He immediately responded with a "No" and that he would only sign my items if he put a name on them. I informed him that if he put a name on them I could not donate them. He told me that anyone who goes through the line twice is doing so so they can put items on ebay. I again explained that isn't the case and that is why I am asking for the inscription/message on there.

He told me that he has a website with autographed items and that all the funds from that are donated so that should be considered his charitable donation. I finally gave in and told him to do whatever he wants and to put my name but that will make it no donate-able.

Now how does that interaction make any sense following the conversation he had with my wife? Also, I looked up his website. He donates to some orphanage in Mexico. Not even in the U.S. No thanks, I'd rather help someone else.

Tonight is a big update. I heard on the radio yesterday and again today that Bill Walton was in town to help open a Rush Hospital Orthopedic building in the Medical District downtown. I took the day off work and picked up some photos. I already had an unsigned basketball in my closet. It is not very often that you get someone like Walton doing a free signing. Normally as you can see it is local people.

Anyway, on the radio he said a couple times for people to come down and listen to him talk about spine surgery and how much it helped him. He would also mention that everyone should bring as much memorabilia as possible and that he wouldn't leave until it was all signed. Almost sounded too good to be true.

Well as you can see from the pics that was exactly how it went down. Now I wish I had brought more!! Only 20 people or so were there and everyone was getting 10+ items signed. I didn't feel bad about my 5 lol. The one not shown was the free promo photo I had personalized for a friend.

It's just a jumbo sized sharpie. I had a black paint pen but he said he preferred the sharpie and I wasn't gonna tell him different lol

Going to be short and to the point with this update because I want to go back to watching the draft. Met Roberto Garza again today. As usual he would sign as many as you wanted. Here is what I got. The photofile photos are what they were giving out.

Devin Hester is appearing today but it's to promote the new Nike jerseys and I have a reebok one to get signed so I'm not going to that. Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler are signing today as well at the mall next to my office. I'm gonna try to go there. I'm gonnna get a bball for a friend from Taj and a 8x10 of Butler for me.

I think this is the 3rd update this week. Today was Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler from the Bulls. This was no more than 2 blocks from my office so talk about convenient! A friend asked me if I could get a ball signed for him from Taj. I have met Taj so many tiems as you guys know from these updates that I told him sure and I only brought a photo for Jimmy Butler to sign.

I met Jimmy once before and chatted with him for about 15 minutes. It was right after the draft and during the lockout so that was mainly what we chatted about. Just as he was that time he was very nice again. Taj has signed so often I think he may be sick of it and just goes through the motions now.

Best part was Butler showed up, walked through a crowd and no one noticed him until he got towards us in the front of the line. He was wearing a Brian Scalabrine Bulls Jersey shirt! haha

I didn't upload pics of Taj since it wasn't my item.

So this week is just getting out of hand. Started with Bill Walton on Wednesday, Roberto Garza Thursday, Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler on Friday, and today just as I was going to take a nap I get an email telling me Horace Grant is signing free autographs at a Walmart not far from where I grew up.

Well not knowing really any info on it I start to google a bit. I see a flyer saying that Kevin Love, Horace Grant, Nick Anderson, Kemba Walker, and Kyrie Irving are appearing at a Walmart. I assumed it was a flyer for their various national events. I called the store and asked for details. The guy told me that everyone I named would be appearing but Anderson and Walker would not be signing autographs, only Love, Grant, and Irving!!!! This was at 11am this morning, and it started at 1pm. I raced out of the house and got to the store in about 40 minutes or so.

They were not allowing outside items but the guy on the phone told me they had plenty of basketballs for sale there. When I got there I wasn't really pleased with the selection of basketballs but hey, a free autograph is nothing to complain about.

I was about 175 in line and they almost cut the line 3 people in from of me for Love. Luckily they ran another 20 or so through. For Grant I was 3 or 4th in line. Tomorrow I am going to get there very early and try to get Irving on 2 more basketballs.

Talk about a crazy week and all of these are free!!!!!!!

First thing I will share are two videos of Kevin Love doing a basketball demo with some younger kids after the signing. Horace Grant did one as well but I did not stay for that.

Here is the Kyrie IRving update I mentioned yesterday. Kemba Walker and Nick Anderson ended up signing as well. I didn't bring anything for them but still managed to get a 8x10 of each. While in line for Kyrie an NBA rep came over and handed out free pairs of NBA brand basketball shoes to the first 10 people or so in line. So I ended up returning the basketball I had bought and just got the shoes signed. He was nice enough to sign both!!

I took a video as well of Kyrie doing the Dougie but for some reason it came out smaller than it normally does.
