QUOTE(drocksthaparty @ Sep 27 2010, 07:34 PM)
yeah the spiller was a bad decision, because we can always rely on Marshawn Lynch, I mean Jailbird, we had one runningback that we could rely on.

what would you recommend LOCKER? LUCK?  Look at their stats, and they are playing in garbage divisions. Put them in the SEC and what do they do? Oh wait they can't even win in their own divisions.  You can't take a O Lineman because there is no one that is worth a top 5 pick. So you have to get a QB.

*

Locker and Luck aren't garbage. Maybe if Locker wasn't playing for WASHINGTON (who were 0-10 his Sophmore year despite the fact that he played well) he might get some more wins. This is sort of like how people used to say Colt McCoy was a great NFL prospect because he was such "a winner" when meanwhile he was playing for one of the best teams in the NCAA, while other players who were far better prospects (Bradford, Clausen) weren't getting as many collegiate wins.

As of now, in the eyes of every scout out there, Locker and Luck are ahead of Mallett. Unless something dramatic happens, all three will be 1st-round picks.

It wasn't drafting Mallett that I thought was such a bad idea, it was drafting him 5th overall (which is way too high for his current draft stock).

I agree at 5 it is high but one thing for sure he is by far the best qb in this draft. Look at who he faces week in and week out, he has been doing it since Michigan. He is strong. Locker is a run first qb, we don't need one of them unless it is Vick. As for the team, we have so many holes, I would go OLINE first but there is no one good enough to take. I would do whatever I could to get a QB, but not luck or locker. I would want Mallett PERIOD

QUOTE(cardinal @ Sep 27 2010, 05:12 PM)
Worst pick of the draft. Hands down.

Classic Bills thinking: "Let's draft a player in the top 10 in the ONE position that we actually DON'T need to upgrade, and then only give him 12-15 touches a game and burn away a nice $60 million."
*

While I don't agree with the whole worst pick of the draft comment, Cardinal did nail it when it comes to the position they drafted. Running back is about the easiest position to fill, and the Bills have glaring needs elsewhere...
Want some good examples?

Jamaal Charles, 3rd round pick
Ray Rice, 2nd round pick
Tashard Choice, 4th round pick
Arian Foster, FREE AGENT

Let me know if I need to provide more examples... wink.gif

"Baseball players will take anything. If you had a pill that would guarantee a pitcher 20 wins but might take five years off his life, he'd take it" MLB pitcher Jim Bouton about drug use in the Major Leagues... quoted in 1969.

No more examples needed. I don't care if Barry Sanders was cloned and waiting at the Bills pick...nothing is going to help until the o-line is fixed. It's not so much who the Bills draft that I have a problem with, it's who they don't draft. Waiting till the 5th round to draft an OT named Wang is not the kind of decision that's going to win games.

Completely agreed. Have been very disappointed in their obviously lackluster drafting the past few years.

They ought to know by now that they need an O-Line, yet they continue to ignore this. If not through the draft, at least trade or a sign some decent veterans.

It can't be that bad of a move, because they just put Marshawn Lynch on the trade block, They want a second for him and the Packers already offered a third for Lynch. If they get a 2nd for Lynch then they did the right thing. Lynch has been a problem child in buffalo and hopefully a change of scenary can help him out. I feel he will be a packer by the week end.

Trent Edwards is a horrid QB who for what ever reason was very very gun shy and scared to make mistakes.

Yes our O-Line is not good but Edwards made them look even worse. His first option was always the check down.

Fitzpatrick is a good back QB in the league and made our offense work and had us in the game. If it wasnt for 2 horrid INTs it wouldve been a great game for him.

Spiller is a game changer and was a good pick. Lynch wont be here much longer and Spiller will only get better. There was not an Oline guy on the board worth that pick.

Maybin was the bad pick. We couldve had Orakpo or Matthews...

Next year you take the franchise QB in the first and build around him like the Rams are doing now. I think the best QB out of the bunch at the time is Andrew Luck, he plays in a pro style offense and has a great arm and is very accurate , Mallett is a close number 2 though.

The niners are first in line for him as it sounds. It sounds like they will sign him today at 4 O Clock. If they don't put in a claim for him then it would go to the Jags or Seahawks.

It would be funny to see him start against us in two week playing for the Jags and him beating us but It won't happen. I wish the kid luck though he was just too smart to play football

Fitzpatrick is smart and at least tries to make plays.

Who ever gets him is in for some boring boring football.

boring football yes, he was too smart to throw the ball, he was scared to throw a bad pass, you know the smart kids in school would rather not circle an answer then answer it incorrectly. That is the way Trent plays football. he would rather throw and easy pass then take the chance of getting a wrong pattern misread.

does it make sense now?

I was hoping for a miracle from him

Yes I get what you saying now but smart is the word I would use as I just think the the word Smart and Edwards dont belong anywhere near each other.

Afraid, Confused, Lost, Slow, Cowardly, Below Average, and Lame are some words I would associate with Trent Edwards.

I think O Line is over rated people always want the first overall player you need to get people that are football players. That is the thing, our staff new that Spiller was as good as they come and BPA is usually for people with good records but the bills went against the grain. i like the idea.

If i were a GM I would take Lineman that were cut by the Colts, Patriots, Packers, Ravens and put them on my team, because first of all they are gamers. Steelers fall in that list as well, their practice squad guys are probably better than our starters. That is how I would evaluate the talent. i would see who else is interested in the guy then sign him. I would evaluate by evaluating others.
