Early in his career he has been less than impressive (in my opinion), but hasn't had the chance to consistently start. Before game 3 of the preseason he was 10-13 passing. Yet, he is benched in favor of Derek Anderson - and goes 9-10 after replacing DA.

Wisenhunt seems to have no faith in him at all.

I've been wondering the same thing. Leinart definitely has some potential, he just has never had the chance to show it when it really counts. If Anderson does end up as the starting quarterback in week one, I believe it won't be much longer than 3 or 4 weeks before we see Leinart under-center.

It very likely could be the other way around. There's a reason why he's having a tough time getting the job, and that's because he's just simply not very good. He has looked so embarrassingly bad in preseason that I don't know of any coach that would want to start him.

I have heard Whisenhunt's lack of confiedence is more about attitude, preparation, leadership and reading defenses than it is about physical ability...

I am hesitant about him also (he just doesn't "look" ready in my opinion), but given what he has done this preseason give him a chance.

Stats obviously don't tell the whole story, especially in preseason. In an earlier preseason game, he was 6-7 for 49 yards, but 4 out of those 6 completions only made up 15 yards. Don't forget that the other week he also blamed his poor play on the other team "blitzing on every play" and has showed horrible leader capabilities.

Yeah, stupid defense trying to prevent the QB from doing his job.

Well, if Anderson starts, I won't complain. I actually picked him up as a third string QB in one of my large fantasy leagues, and Leinart was not only the starter on another team, but the only QB that particular owner grabbed (and he isn't the only one with a single QB). There are no other starters in the free agent pool so I may be holding some strong trade value.

Exactly. Theres a reason he was cut. No team would give something up if they could wait and contend with other teams to sign him. He is a backup, not a hot commodity

I don't understand him going to the Texans, because Schaub has the starting position locked up Leinart becomes a backup (which was his problem in Arizona)!

I didn't say he was good, just said that I hate it when good players get cut.
If there were teams interested in getting Leinart, though, then he could have been worth keeping. Arizona could have made a deal to get someone that they needed to cover a position.
To be honest, though, I know little about Leinart. Of what I do know, I was expecting him to drop to second string a while ago. I didn't expect him to be dropped, though. Like I said above, I picked up Anderson a few weeks ago in one of my fantasy leagues.

He's actually #3 on the depth chart behind Dan Orlovsky. When the only team that is willing to pick you up ranks you behind Orlovsky, you know no team in the NFL thinks highly of Leinart right now.

Seriously. The Lions had Orlovsky a while back, and he was number three on their depth chart. Leinart is now playing behind the guy that was number three on the Lions. I kind of feel sorry for him.
