Agreed - this movie is a BLAST. I had no idea what to expect going in since I knew NOTHING about Star Trek... but it really was a great time. Next up - Terminator devil.gif devil.gif devil.gif

I saw some of it. There was something I didn't like - design-wise. But I won't say anything so as not to spoil it. I'm expecting to get a good copy in the next couple of weeks. shifty.gif

I'm not a Trekkie, but this is my favorite movie of the year so far.

2 pieces of advice for those interested in seeing it:
1. See it in digital projection if possible
2. You might want to bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from all the lens flares cool.gif

I'm gonna wait and see it on DVD. I keep hearing that it's a real good one.

Never been a Star Trek fan but this will easily be the best movie I see this year. I haven't seen Wolverine (aside from the version that was leaked over the internet a couple months back) but after seeing Star Trek,I don't even care if I do now. Don't think this summer movie season will get any better than this.

Yep a lot of cool stuff coming out this season. The last summer movie season I remember being this good was 1984.

I'm a big star trek fan myself, but I found the movie to be kinda lame.

The plot was really hokey, even for a Star Trek movie. And it was pretty melodramatic in points which was very distracting.

I will say it was well acted and directed. I just think the script was a clunker. So hopefully it'll have a better script when they do the next one.

I really liked it, and I didnt expect to. I thought the dude who played Spock was brilliant and I loved the amount of focus payed to his humanity vs. Vulcanity. I was expecting stuff like that to be left out to appeal with mass audiences. Kirk was pretty corney, but then again, it's kind of neccessary for the character.

Im also glad it was laeft open for a sequel. Someone has to stop the whole thing and return the galaxy to the normal timeline.

I think they set up this "alternate" reality so they don't have to worry about tying anything in to any existing Star Trek stuff. Kind of smart, if you ask me, since Star Trek's continuity is all over the place. This way they start fresh.
