Can we make the "From" part below our name required? I'm really not big on doing deals by value, but when it comes to trading out of the country, I prefer to do a "bigger" trade. I haven't had this happen to me recently but I've worked out deals with traders in the past, small deals, only to find out they lived in another country. Had I known before hand I probably wouldn't have pursued such a small trade or attempted to make it bigger. Maybe I'm in the minority here, I just prefer to know where the person is located before I agree to a deal.

I think requiring a state or country might be okay - but nothing more specific than that.

Yeah that's what I mean. Country is the important one.

EDIT: Didn't realize my initial post said "cross country". I meant another country.

I agree with putting your location as a mandatory requirement when registering so traders know where you are. It would also show how diverse and unique TCC is not just in the USA but abroad as well.

I think state/province should be a minimum requirement.

At a minimum: Country

State/Province and Country would be nice

Not that's its been a big deal for me, as my deals are usually only US and Canada, so a few far off deals don't have a big impact.

But you could always just ask when negotiations start to find that out too...

I don't think it should be mandatory. Some people, obviously, may not want everyone on the internet to know where they're from. I'd say if you're looking to trade with someone who doesn't have their "From" filled out, just ask them where they're from prior to posting the transaction. Then if you don't feel like you want to make that trade based on their location, just tell them.

It's a good idea, just think it would be hard to get everyone to do it. New folks it could be part of the signup process but getting everyone else to do that be tough as folks don't read all posts or pay attention to PMs/Emails. An example would be request for keeping Email up to date, as many of those bounce back to site due to no longer existing.

Just listing country would be vague enough (as US wouldn't pinpoint ones location very much wink.gif ) and yet would be helpful.

I like your train of thought on this. It would be nice to know if the member you are dealing with is currently located in a different country. Especially as this would have an impact on time and shipping costs.

I agree with what Michael said about just asking but also know that it is a hassle to do so. Making it mandatory would not fix the problem rather run off some people. Problem with the internet no is people are afraid to give out too much information that the public can see due to everything going on in the world. While some may think it rediculous or unnecasry others may not. Some sense of security is stripped when you have to give out certain information.

I would suggest for a short term fix to put in your sig that anybody wishing to make a transaction with you must inform you before hand if they currently reside outside of the U.S. That would cover you if a transaction is created and the other party didnt tell you he was in, say, Australia, and you no longer wish to complete the transaction!

Yeah I hear ya. Might have to go that route. I mean, I made this thread a long time ago but things have changed a little. I work during post office hours and can only send out of country on Saturdays. The automated postal center used to allow you to purchase postage for out of country shipments but it doesn't anymore so I'd rather just avoid it altogether. Nothing against anybody out of country, I love y'all. wink.gif

i like the idea. partly for the trading. i have bought and i think i have sold to other country's. and hand no problems with them. im open to trading and selling with almost anyone from anywere. they are just people to me. as long as the deal goes smooth no big deal to me where the person is from. i just kinda like knowing were people are from! laugh.gif

Country should be mandatory, that puts traders on a level playing field. You can consider your desires vs. expense/time better with that tidbit. No surprises when you've searching for needs to build a set. I'd rather just buy what I want/need if the expense is to high. This is supposed to be fun, not work. Fun is pay me and I'll search my boxes if and when. Not you e-mailing and pm me for a list of stuff that I really aint working, because you got dups and want my cards. I just think that I certainly would ask for more in those circumstances and would give more too if the shoe were on the other foot.
