In keeping with its practice of releasing information on upcoming sets six months or more in advance, Topps gave us a sneak peek at one of next year’s sets on Tuesday. 2014 Topps Heritage will be out early next year and move the series one more year into its throwback past by featuring a 1965 theme.

Among the highlights: a redemption card that will earn the lucky collector who pulls it a complete, original 1965 Topps set, the revival of the Embossed inserts and plenty of variations, parallels and inserts.

Mike Trout 2014 Topps HeritageThe base set will again be 425 cards with 75 more issued as short prints. Each will come with four variations: errors aimed at mirroring those that occurred in 1965, throwback uniform photos, action shots and logo changes.

Justin Verlander 2014 Topps Heritage embossedThere will be black backs, minis and Chrome (including Blacks numbered to 65 and gold numbered to just 5 that will only be available in hobby boxes.

Topps will issue ‘buy backs’ of original 1965 Topps cards and Hot Iron Transfer inserts, stamped unfortunately again, with gold foil. Coins minted in 1965 return along with postage stamp relics and some shouts out to TV and movies with Topps Gilligan’s Island, Flash Gordon and King Kong buy back cards part of the mix.

The Embossed insert set will include current players as well as U.S. presidents. Other insert sets include: New Age Performers, Then and Now (1965 vs 2013), Baseball Flashbacks, First Draft Card (celebrating the first MLB Draft in ’65) and News Flashbacks.

Box toppers include a three-card advertising panel and supersized cards in the 1965 Topps design.

See the preliminary 2014 Topps Heritage checklist and sample images below. The product is due out the first week of March.

Oh Man pulling that redemption for a complete Original 1965 set would be AWESOME. Sadly I don't bust enough new product myself to get a chance at that stuff. sad.gif Oh and I really hope it is really an Original set, untainted by any "Original 1965 Set" stamped imprints or reprinted "originals" with new copyright info and logos. Even if it was in just almost fair to good condition.
