Here is an email I received from topps today regarding a redemption I pulled a while ago :


Dear Consumer. This email is to inform you that the Topps Company is currently beyond the 15 week processing time allocated for the following redemption card: PIN #: Product: Card/Player NameCBKY63EJ9M Topps Co-Signers Darrell Arthur Rookie AU Our staff is working diligently to process and ship your redemption card as soon as possible. Please continue to check your Online Redemption account for updates regarding the status of your card. If you no longer wish to wait for the redemption card, please contact our Consumer Relations team to discuss substitution options.




I'm going to call customer service tomorrow and see what else I can get in it's place. I still have a murad auto sitting in redemption at topps.

That's just pure crap. These companies are horrible at honoring their products and their redemptions. I know it's been said before but when you say that you're going to do something(i.e. honor a redemption, or include the right amount of hits, or the packs in the box) then JUST DO IT. I'm sorry but that's just truly unacceptable as a business practice. All of us consumers surely do their part to keep buying these products that usually end with lower than acceptable expectations, which in turn keeps them in business. We didn't make the decision to not pony up the money to keep the NBA license, so why must we suffer. These companies will eventually drive enough collectors out of the hobby because of shady business practices like these. NEWS FLASH to Topps & Upperdeck, YOU'RE COMPANY ISN'T GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!! This means that you CAN still afford to keep the 5-10 people that handle your redemptions (if they even have that many people working in the redemption process). I understand that if the date on the redemption has expired then tough luck, but if the redemption is still live, then the consumer/collector should expect the company to fullfill that redemption. The only acceptable excuse for not fullfilling these redemptions is if the company goes bankrupt or closes it's doors.

Ebay and the High End products aren't killing the hobby as is stated all the time. These card companies are shooting themselves in the foot by participating in shady business practices such as the ending of basketball Redemptions. Topps & Upperdeck YOU MAKE ME SICK!!!! Congrats on being the main contributer to the death of the hobby that so many of us love.

Hey guys, one of the original members, Placorte has contacted me and is interested in re-joining the group. Hopefully we can keep Chip around and have a staple of regulars along with all of the great members that we currently have. Mjda is also interested in joining in a few months.

Boy was that a tough call to Topps.

Basicaly I was told the card I'm waiting on is backordered. It may or may not be fulfilled. If it's not fulfilled they will send me a comparable card that is left in their stock (based upon Beckett Value).

When I asked if I could just have a substitute I was told I'd just have to wait to see what they send me. Thay are not having anyone sign anymore cards, and whatever is in their inventory will be depleted by taking care of these redemptions.

The Kobe patch auto is nominated for group break pull of the month: that's pretty cool. I just thought I'd mention it so you guys can head over there and vote if you haven't already.

pavi39 - The whole way Topps is handling things sucks. It's going to be very disappointing going forward when we hit Topps (and possibly Upper Deck) redemptions.

Tb40 - It would be nice to see Placorte and mjda back in the group. Those were to solid members. Didn't Placorte hit the Jordan auto out of Ultimate?
