QUOTE(bigalexx @ Jul 22 2007, 12:27 AM)
The game tonight was such a joke. It wasnt soccer it was like an award show type of thing. The Crowd stands up when he starts stretching in the middle of the game. I know it was an Exhibition game but there was no seriousness put into this game. Beckham is in America just for the 250,000,000$ he will be making i the next 5 years. And the Galaxy signed him just so ticket sales will go up. The thing about how this will change soccer in America is BS. No one can make the MLS popular. The MLS is a joke.

i will have to agree one you. you cannot depend on one guy to bring up the popular of the sport. i mean beckham cannot beat the Nba, NFL, MLB, Etc. b/c it is just hard to do it. and yeah i dont think MLS will be that great. but I love the Houston dyanmo. smile.gif

I think Beckham does more modeling than soccer playing...and LA doesn't have a problem with that.

yep he does.

I feel bad for the actual soccer fans that support the LA Galaxy. The LA Galaxy are no longer a soccer team. Do you think all those celebritys came to the game to watch a soccer match. Not on there life. I hope it gets better because Beckham I think is actually hurting soccer in America.

Yeah, you see much better players in MLS that true fans recognize. Beckham, everyone recognizes for being good looking and talented. When they see him playing soccer, they get excited when he gets the ball but there is rarely anything produced. Its a good idea putting him on the Galaxy for the ticket sales but he is not worth half the salary he gets.

Marketing has became more important than football (soccer) itself. I heard that there were lots of celebrities in the game and I started thinking: Do they even know how football is played? Do they know the basic rules? I think they don't laugh.gif

I haven't seen anyone ever NOT complain about a yellow card. Every time the ref holds it up their like "What What???" when they clearly kicked the guy in the face, spit on him, and then wrote 'England Rules!' on his forehead.
