Couldn't find these in store so I ordered them from Walmart.com and had free delivery to the store. Will start with the blaster: 5 cards per pack, 8 packs per box, $25. Guaranteed one jersey, auto or numbered card.

Well I'm not sure these were the best packs, aside from the Kotkaniemi, but this is a cool product to open. Definitely want to complete a base set and maybe the blue rookies that seem to come one a pack.

Not a bad break, nice hit on the Habs numbered rookie at least that was a good one! Not sure about this product, it looks nice, but paying $25 for a numbered rookie card, who could be a whosit, is too risky in my opinion, as I think the blue rookies will be too overproduced to hold much value, except maybe the top stars.

Just looked at completed on ebay, and only the top star rookies are getting some of the box price. Seeing Petterson closing at $15 and $20, Hart in the $10 range for the numbered versions. Maybe this is due to how the product is being release retail only???? Not sure, but if they were SPA rookies they would be a lot more and even the Young guns sell for way more.

Yeah looked like Kotkaniemi was fetching $8 or 9. Not bad. I definitely don't see tons of dollar value here, just a higher end feel to a retail product, and its something new. I had fun opening it, and didn't feel like I got taken like I often do! The SPA box I had for $120 only got me $28 of sale value on eBay, before fees. So $9 on $25 is a lot better lol. Granted I hit one of the better rookies, but if I hadn't I still would've had $25 worth of fun! Was SPA $120 worth of fun.... I think not really.

But on your last point, I've come to realize that Series 1 and 2 are where I should be spending the most of my time and money. As far as "breaking even" it's where I've done the best. I've bought a few high end boxes, and maybe the best I've ever done is getting my money back, and that's with a really good hit! With Series 1, I got really lucky and hit several Petterssons and probably actually could come out ahead if I sold them all. The Young Guns seem to draw collectors of all sorts, not just hockey people, and it's something you can get retail or hobby. Really, besides UD 1 and 2, I've found group breaks to be the most fun and least likely to leave me feeling like a sucker.

Will do Mike, and thanks! I like the look of these cards. Just like SPA, but have a little more of a foil quality to them. Definitely don't feel cheap. Good luck with your packs!

Do you mean SPA? I think this SP and is only retail from what I have seen, no hobby boxes. I am wondering what hobby shops think about this, first epack to hurt them, now making a strictly only retail product?

Zach it is a nice looking retail product and the odds for hits seem better than any other retail product (5 in 20 have GU, vs. Artifacts which is maybe 1 or 2 per 20 boxes), I just wish that when I saw it on the shelves of stores I would have a choice of boxes, so far when I have seen it, all I have seen is 1 box among a dozen OPCP, and numerous other non-hockey products and no rack packs.

Paul those bvs aren't bad, not sure of SPA bvs, but some of those cards are going to be similarly numbered, just not signed depending on the rookie, but still should be more comparable with UD young guns or at least closer. There have to be more than 1,199 young guns available, one would think by the product saturation.

Just letting you know Beckett on-line is already showing a drop in value on the Blue parallel Rookies etc. #140 Mittelstadt started at $20 now $15 same for #105 Svechnikov some of the lesser stars #116 Samsonov down from$10 to $8 and so on.
Base, base blues, RC's everything else has stayed the same.
