Hi guys. It's Football Season again and time to get our September break planned! I am posting the team assignments that I am aware of so if you participated last month but want to add, drop, or change a team please let me know asap so I can keep the list accurate.

The cost remains the same at $115 to claim a team and of course you get every card pulled from your team. All boxes will broke on Youtube. The proposed product list is listed below and as always is subject to change based on product availability and final participant count;

2008 National Treasures Case (3 boxes)
2007 Exquisite Case (3 boxes)
2006 National Treasures (1 box)

Cost per team: $115
Payment deadline: October 17th
Break Date: October 24th at 9pm(ct)

It looks like I am out... work is getting crazy again, and in addition to that, if it wasnt for bad luck, I'd have none at all.

My dishwasher died yesterday and tonight my battery in my truck died!

I still haven't been able to reach Stabil0208, Faulkrules, or Tileman.

11Eleven11 takes over the Dolphins slot.

I will take the Packers as an extra slot but if Ed checks in he can have them back.

Tileman's Browns will have to be put up for grabs.

I'll add a note in a bit to start the silent bids on the unclaimed teams.

I will go ahead and put up the final 12 unclaimed teams for silent bid. This is only for the current participants and the minimum bid is $35 per team. The winning bid will be no more than $5 over the next highest bid. If any team fails to get a bid we'll put the team up for anyone (non-participant) to grab at that $35 price. This month we have 12 teams unclaimed. If Tileman checks in and still wants his Browns he can still take them and they'll be taken off the board. The deadline for submitting bids is Thursday at 9pm(ct).

Ewww. I hope we're just seeing a small subset and not all of the cards are designed that way. That might as well be from Rookies and Stars. Another example of companies trying too hard, looking to make fresh designs, and failing. They had a good thing going with the NT branding, they should have done minimal tweaks.

Cool pics, i don't like how they dropped the classic look, they really blend in with other brands now.

Chris- what does the product list look like with only 22 full paid? I doubt we will make the full box list so could you give us an idea of what you are thinking in regards to what we have 100% predraft and what a high/ low draft would mean.

The templates for this year's football were the ones designed by DLP before the takeover is the bad thing, this can not even be laid at Panini's feet.

We've actually got only 20 paid slots (12 available to bid on) so this is our lowest participation in quite some time. That combined with the fact 07Exquisite jumped $150 out of the blue does not bode well for any of the 09 Absolute to be included. I'm hopeful that we'll have enough to include the extra box of 06NT so I only ordered one box of 09 Absolute and I doubt we'll cover it. Obviously it depends on what the silent bids bring in but we need to average $60 per extra team to cover the 06NT box so it may be a stretch but if we're close (which we should be) I'll cover any shortage.

That being said, with only 20 teams covered and many of those through multiple team ownership, we may need to look at the direction of the group. We're down from a high of 29 teams filled so while we can still cover two nice cases it's always more fun if more people are involved. What are people's thoughts about lowering the price to $85 per team to try to generate more participation. Obviously product choices may be part of it as well but we've discussed that pretty thoroughly in the past.

Thoughts?

Not impressed by what I've seen from NT09 so far. 06 and 07 were amazing, 08 was soso and this seems to be headed the wrong way .

I think there is a long term goal to dropping the price. The idea would be to attract new members to the club, and fill the club. After the club is filled there is a chance that we could bring the price back up, maybe over a couple of months.

Yeah, I'm just not sure. With the current format;

20 teams filled at $115 and 12 additional teams selling at $55 a piece we have $2960 before paypal fees and shipping costs.

28 teams filled at $85 and 4 additional teams selling at $40 a piece we have $2540 before fees. That would represent roughly one box less but more participation. Not sure which is better?? Guessing of course on the 28 teams filled but give or take...

By the way when we had 29 teams filled at $115 and the remaining 3 teams at $45 we had $3470 (before fees)...times were good as 06NT was selling for $950 a case and 07NT was $1125 or so and 07Exq was around $950. Good times...good times!

Personally I would try the $85 for a month or two and see how it goes.

But from the feeling I got recently I expect this year's Exquisite and NT to be even more expensive than previous years.

Last day to get your silent bids in on the remaining 11 unclaimed teams!!

Also I learned I have to work on Sunday evening which is when I was planning on breaking so I'll need to bump this up to Saturday night at 9pm(ct) if that's OK. It will immediately follow the Multi-Sport group break which starts at 7pm. Hope this works for most of you! As soon as we get the final numbers in from the silent bids I'll let you know what the final product list looks like but I'm assuming it will be the 06NT box and the two cases of 07Exquisite and 08NT.

I'm okay with lowering the price as long as the product choice doesn't lower. The thing is, it wont bring in more $$$ as Chris mentioned, maybe more participation. I joined this group because it was a high end break, so I hope it stays that way. What hasn't been discussed here is raising the price. If the current 20 participants are happy with their team selections, how would you feel about paying more for the break to keep the product high end or even maybe add more of it? Just thinking out of the box. my .02 cents.

I agree in part, I'm fine with lowering the price a little as long as the product quality doesn't change.

As far as raising the price, I'm sure some of the participants here would be okay with that. However, I think it would eliminate any new people from joining. If a few of the current people dropped out we'd be back in the same spot as we are now as far as the money goes.

Raising the price is not going to draw in new people and if it drives away the old, then like you said we are back in the same boat.

I think the best way to do it is reduce the amount to 85-90 range, and instead of trying to break three years of product, just break one or two.

Since 07 was Exquisite this month I was thinking Absolute for 07, Exquisite for 08 and Black for 09. We would have to go less than a case for any of it so maybe a box of 06NT, 7 boxes of 07 Absolute, 2 boxes of 08 Exquisite, and 5 boxes of 09 Black? That would be about the top of our budget with 22 participants if we keep the cost the same. Just an idea...

I would rather us do a case of a lower end product than do more 2007 exquisite. The rookie class is kinda fizzling and the other good cards are to hard to pull. Something like a 07 Classics case would be nice. Lots of Rookies mixed in with lots of hall of fame patches and autos. I believe there are also cuts in there. More packs to open but I bet the return would be worth it. As far as 08, NT or Exquisite is still good, I still prefer NT cause of the better non rookie cards. I would say to drop the 06 NT but they have been really good and the price is nice as well.

No absolute and no bowman sterling.

That was my original intent to be done with 06 and just focus on 3 years of content but 06NT has just been so stinking hot I thought people may want to leave it in. I for one am fine cutting it out. Takeobeavis mentioned a lower end product for 07 and I'd rather not do that as this group is all about higher end stuff and I think should remain so. Absolute to me represents a compromise where we go slightly lower to offer more hits but is a good (off-Exquisite month) option. I'd like to see it remain in but with less budget devoted to it than 08 and 09.

no 07 Products period as that class is fizzling except for a certain RB

How about just 08 and 09 Products?

It is Exquisite's turn for 2008, so how about a Case of that and the rest for 2009 Limited or Absolute?

08 Exquisite (it is their turn) fully sealed case

and

the rest of 09 Absolute or Limited (if its out) Black is being released on the 24th now

Lots of talk about doing away with 07 all together...I really hesitate to do that and believe it or not it's not just about my AP PC either. We've always covered 3 years and teams like the Bills, Browns, Lions, 49ers, Chiefs, Saints, etc., all have rookies that are still worth hunting for. I would instead like to see the bulk of funds going to 08 and 09 but some representation remaining for 07. If we leave 06 behind, we still can swing $500-$600 towards an 2007 product and the rest of the $2200-$2300 (hopefully more if we can grow the group back up) towards 08 and 09 products. As for the 09 product...I'm intrigued but not tied to Black. If you want to go Limited or Absolute instead I'm open to a group decision. I would like to go with a product that is released by the time we decide though as I've seen too many delays in the release of products and don't want to plan for one that may not be there when we need it.

I dont think 07 and 09 absolute should be grouped together, 07 is trash but they did a real good job on 09.

I dont like how popular black is considering we haven't even seen a pack opened.

I think not making the EX08 a sealed case would be a mistake.

Yep, I just found out yesterday that I will be out of town for that weekend so we'll have to do it the week before which means probably a safe "no" to Black for November. I'm good with Limited or Absolute.

By the way, I'm hoping to get the new threads up tomorrow night if possible as I'll be out of town this weekend too.

November break suggestion:

08 Exquiste case (3 boxes)
06 National Treasures (1 or 2 boxes)
09 Donruss Limited (a couple of boxes)
