I am starting a collector's chain of brotherly love. By doing so, I am creating a package that contains 1 Vintage Card, 1 RC, 1 GU, 1 AU, and 1 Insert card. I will send this package to the 1st person who requests to be on the list. When that person receives, they may, then, take one card and replace it with another one. Then they send it to the next person on the list, and so on and so forth.
Rules
1. Request to be added to the list. By doing so, you agree to add a card from the same category from which you took a card. i.e. GU for GU, AU for AU, etc.
2. You must add at least one card to the package but may add more.
3. You must post in this thread when you receive and let everyone know what you are taking and what you are adding.
4. You must agree to send with DC. This way we can keep track of the package.
5. You must have at least 10 completed transactions to join the chain.
6. You may not join the chain if your user id is red. If you join in good standing and at a later date your user id is set to red, you will be removed from the chain. Depending on the violation, you may be banned from the chain permanently.
7. Once you receive the package, you have 7 days to ship the package to the next person on the list.
8. I know we won't have a problem with this but by joining you agree to let me and anyone else in the chain publicly humiliate you if you break this chain. In other words, if you make off with the stuff, you will be outed on this site and every other site.
9. When the package makes it back to me, I will take 2 cards, replace them and add another card from each category. At this time, the second round will begin and each person will take 2 cards and add 2 cards, and so on and so forth for each subsequent round.

Johnny,
Please send me your address and I will send this package in the next couple days. I'm on the clock and have until next Tuesday to ship.
DANG, nice package! I wonder what Johnny is going to take, and what he is going to replace it with.........
Brandon,
I intend this to be self-regulating. I would hope that each member of the chain will keep the spirit in which this was created. With that said, I realize some of the younger collectors or people who aren't able to get cards of this caliber will be able to obtain something and give within their means. I would hope that everyone will take what they want and add what they can. That is in part why I will be recharging this every time the package makes its way back to me. In addition, I will use random.org to rearrange the order every round after the first in order to give everyone a fair chance at the recharge.
I'm calling it right now, by the way. This will be the 2011 Thread of the Year.
I want on the list. Thanks, this sounds like a cool idea!
gotcha down.
count me in!
you're in.

sweet..hopefully someone posts scans of the circulating cards!
Great idea! Count me in.
Dontcha just hate it when you know you have something and can't find it? I can't find the Sandberg RC but I think I may have a suitable replacement. Stay tuned for details (and scans).
Marc,
An interesting idea Please Add me.
This reminds me a little of the old (and now lost I think) Lucky TCC Nickel from a few years back. A different concept though since that wasn't a chain just a "pass it on at some time".
[Need to remind myself to track this thread ]
hey. sounds interesting. I would like to be in on it at some point.
only suff I can throw in is off my trade list
I would love to be part of this chain....
All right. Let's get some scans of the cards in the initial package.
Let's start with a card straight from the City of Brotherly Love:
1952 Topps Howie Fox
Next let's look to my alma mater:
Deron Williams GU
Now, let's try a guy simply known as "The Thrill" :
08 Threads Will Clark /50
Moving on we have a nice lil AU Patch from Braves 2 bagger, Kelly Johnson
As I mentioned, I couldn't find the Sandberg RC. I hope no one minds if I replace it with this 1st ballot HOFer:
83 Topps Tony Gwynn
Ok. The chain is rollin' tomorrow morning. DC # is 420127239101785091401877281902
Johnny,
When you receive, please let us know in this thread which card you're taking and what you are adding. If you can scan the card here, that would be awesome. Then when you send, please post the DC. Enjoy!
Marc
Kirk,
I had the TCC lucky nickel in mind when I thought of this. I have been very blessed with the generosity of others since returning to this site, first, with the Secret Santa and then with Shawn and Richard's contest thread, I thought it would be cool if I could grab a card or two from the GU care package that's on its way to me and then share the rest with others. The combination of all these things led to this thread. I hope it works out well and everyone enjoys it. I've tried to add cards that I hope new collectors and seasoned veterans alike can appreciate. And I hope others will keep the spirit of this thread alive. I think we have a great group of guys so far.
Marc
THIS IS AMAZING I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!

Marc,
Sign me up if you still have room... Love to be a part of this.
Adam,
The more the merrier, my friend. Welcome! PS your user ID is my favorite Billy Joel song.
Too late to join?
It's never too late. Welcome to the party.
HA HA!!!!!!! We have finally reached my favorite number(13)!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim, please PM me with your address and your favorite team and player(has to be BB, BKB, or FB). You're the first Chain mystery gift winner!!!!!!! Congratulations!
I received the package yesterday. I will be making my pick later tonight, and then adding my replacement, and getting scans up.
Any chance I can be added to the list?
Absolutely! Welcome to the party!
Ok, I have made my decision on what I am taking out of the mix. I have decided to take the Howie Fox Vintage card, also as discussed with msw, I am taking the Damion RC and replacing it with something more along the lines of the Gwynn RC. No offense to your submission J5. So here is what I am adding, and I will add scan later:
1981-82 Topps Bill Laimbeer RC for the RC replacement
1962 Topps Lou Groza for the Vintage replacement
Then I am also adding one card to the choices, which means if you take it you must replace it with something similiar, in this case it will need to be a dual auto.
My addition is:
2007 SP Chirography Signs of the Superbowl dual Auto Joe Theismann/Drew Pearson /10
WestCoastSkinsFan please make sure you PM me your mailing address
Sounds like fun! Sign me up! Thanks
Jerad
Someone is paying attention to the next person on the list, that's for sure! PM coming.
This sounds really cool and I would love to get in if I can. Thanks.
Aaron,
You're in. Welcome to the party!
Hey everyone,
We've hit 15. I think that's a good number. What do you guys think about closing this one? If we have more people who are interested, I am willing to start a second chain. Just some thoughts.
Marc
I'm good with closing. Nice big number of people. Should be fun.
Honestly? I'd just stick with one chain.
If anything, you can create a database of folks who want on the list, after a certain point. When a transaction is made, just random.org the list and one person adds on or something along those lines.
If you stick with just the one thread, it'll be easier to take care of and will eventually become one big epic thread.
Some good points. Initially I had wondered how cool it would be to have every member in good standing on the chain. Then the realization hit me that at some point it might take years for us to get through the entire chain. I think for now we'll keep this open. I'm intrigued to see how long this chain can get. Thank you everyone for the input.
I would think that the average exchange would take around one week. So 15 weeks isn't that long. I say keep it going!
I am down either way.
This could really turn into something very special.. I already have a couple fo idea for cards to put into the mix... there are a couple of vintage I am debating, maybe something with a shield on it...who knows. when it gets around we will see how the mood strikes me
this is fun!!!
Sorry kids, scans will come tonight. We had Pete Yorn, and Ben Kweller at thdepotslc.com last night, and it was a late night. Don't have anything tonight, so will get them posted then. Thanks!
Marc- Don't be too surpised by my pick, I have been on a Vintage card kick lately
Can't go wrong with vintage. I love it!
Here are some scans
The two replacements, Laimbeer RC, and Groza 62
Dual Auto Theisman/Pearson, numbered 8/10, not 10/10
Them are purty!
Marc......
I would like to jump on in this if i could???....Thanks
Gotcha!

Got ya down, Bob. Welcome to the party!
I mailed out the chain yesterday to Sam, have DC, just not close by, will post that up later.
Nice stuff so far. I can't wait to see all the different cards coming and going as we progress through THE CHAIN!
Excellllllent! Can't wait to see what the Skins fan takes......
I'd love to join if it is still open to participants........
Still open. Welcome to the party!
Sam,
When you receive, please take 1 card and replace from whichever group you pulled from. The suspense is killing me. Please post what you are taking and what you are replacing with. We'd love scans if possible.
You know, the funny thing about this is that I may not really have a suitable dual auto to replace that with. I might have to pull a switcheroo!
As soon as I receive, I'll be updating things. A picture of the new card will definitely be included.
Just received the current DC on the package. Here it is, let's watch it land at its next destination!
03100480000306321980
I am officially a chain package stalker! USPS says the package was delivered today!!!!!!! I can't stand the suspense!!!! I think I'm going to burst!! What does the future behold for.......The Chain?
I'll be home to check on it shortly. We'll see what the verdict is.
It just occurred to me that the package has made its first trip across the US. I sent to Johnny who is in NY who sent to Brandon in Utah who sent to Sam in CA.
Seems like I should come up with another freebie. Is the capital of Kentucky pronounced Louis-ville or Louie-ville?
Louie-ville
But I thought Frankfort was the capital of Kentucky
The Chain package will sure be booking alot of miles over the weeks and months to come
I though it was pronounced Looo-vul
Correct...the capital of Kentucky is pronounced Frankfort. Adam, please PM me with your address. You're our next lucky winner!!!
Well, I had a little bit of a quandary on this one. I don't actually have a ton of dual autos. So I had to do a little thinking, but I think I ended up with a good solution.
The Pearson/Theismann is no more. It has been replaced with...
05 Contenders Jason Campbell/Carlos Rogers dual auto #/50
Frankly, that alone isn't a fair trade. Which is why it's not alone!
I present to you, another dual auto, and the newest category in the chain: memorabilia.
A dual signed ball! This ball features autos from Ernie "Schoolboy" Johnson and Bill "Baby" Bell, from the KC Monarchs of the Negro Leagues. I hope it finds a good home! I've been holding onto this one for a few years now.
PM coming to Icrackwax.
Wowzers!!!!!!!!!! Dual signed Negro League Baseball. That's amazing! Glad to see the Theisman in good hands. Nice additions! Please send to Icrackwax by Wednesday 3/2 and post the DC. This just keeps getting better and better!!!!!
I'm planning on dropping this in the mail tomorrow morning if I hear from our next participant in time!
wow mango
wow
j555555
I see him lurking so I bet you will.
How's a 2 hour turnaround time work for you guys? We're packaged up and good to go.
For you "Chain Watchers" out there, the new DC number is: 420 72701 9101 1501 3471 1598 7501 14
And the package grows. Awesome stuff! I'm really looking forward to getting this package now. PM has been sent with address info.
I look forward to be stalked by Marc in a couple of days.
Oh boy. The anti has been raised in the chain.. Very nice addition. Well done.
Impressive.
hmm with a memorabilia category, we might have to start including a little cash for the next person to afford the postage to keep the package going.
WOW! I thought my addition was the BEES KNEES...........but SERIOUSLY?!?!?! That is awesome, too bad it will be long gone by the time it gets back to me LOL
As planned, this got dropped off in the mail this morning. Let me know when it arrives!
And yeah, that was the only thing I was kind of worried about (the shipping). I think it was about $3, so it wasn't THAT bad, but if things keep growing or the memorabilia piece gets larger... hrm. We'll have to see!
I should have autographed a mango and sent it with the package, hahahahah
jj5555
Sam,
I'm curious to know if there's a story behind that ball. Can you tell us a little about it?
No kidding!!! I'ma gonna have to run to Ma's house and grab that 8X10 Green Mile Movie poster photo signed by Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan. We're 3 links out and this thing has already grown bigger than I had ever imagined it would. Fantastic!!!!
The ball was actually a contest win from the "Snake" thread about 2 years back. I can't remember who ran that one, but the ball had been donated as a prize and they were simply told it was an autograph from a Negro League player with an inscription.
When I got it, I just thought it was so cool, and I wanted to know more. So I started doing some research. That's when I stumbled upon some archived info, and saw that it wasn't just one player but two. I imagine this was signed at a charity event or something along those lines.
Marc,
Could you please put a list of the contents of the current package in the original post? I think it would be easier for everyone to see what is being sent out and keep track that way.
Dan,
Great Idea!!!! Thanks.
As requested, I have added the contents of the package to the original post. In addition, I have noted what people have received and anything that was donated.
Let's keep this thing goin!!!!!
The package is currently in Limbo Land! I hope the USPS updates tomorrow.
I printed off the mailer and all that at home. Some times those take a little while longer. It was dropped in the mail Thursday morning, so I imagine it won't be much longer before it's delivered.
The package has arrived!!!
I will update the post with what I am adding and taking some time tonight.
Is it possible to still get added on to the list?
o boy o boy.....I can't wait!
Gotcha down. Welcome to the party! Coming soon to a mailbox near you!
Here we go. It took we a good amount of time to decide which of these fine items I wanted and what I had to make a fair replacement with. I will be taking the Negro League Autographed Baseball. This will be going in my growing collection of autographed baseballs and will probably never leave. In replacement I have a Colby Rasmus Autographed baseball. The autograph is a bit faded because it was signed in sharpie around three years ago.
I feel that this alone would be an unfair trade...so I had to add yet another category. Please welcome the newest member of the chain....
[drum roll]
...the patch. I thought I had a much better patch card, but this one I believe will do. It is a Jake Peavy/Ben Sheets dual 3-color patch /99.
In addition, I will be a adding a small gift for the next member in line. I see that there is not much that meets his collecting needs so I wanted to include at least a little something. This doesn't have to be a "thing" but if the next people in line want to continue this gesture, then it might be a neat way to help people's collections while still continuing the chain.
I will get pictures in a few minutes and post them. Thanks again for giving me this opportunity and I hope everyone else enjoys the chain.
The picture doesn't do the ball justice. It isn't faded THAT much.
Patch
Ball
Gift
Colby! Colby! Colby! Colby! And I thought I was going to be sad when the Negro League Ball was taken. Ok......I'm still a little sad.....but lovin the replacement! Nice patch and sweet gift RC for our next in line.
Please remember to send with DC no later than Monday March 7 as our chain will be heading back to the East coast!!!!!!!
The Chain continues to grow and is coming soon to a mailbox near you!!
Announcement
The Chain is closed to all other Cardinals fans until that ball makes its way to Bloomington.
Just kidding. Carry on.
Mailed today. I used one of the online paypal shipping labels which have a tendency to not update as frequently.
With that forewarning, the DC# is 4200 7675 9101 1501 3471 1609 4215 76.

I have made my selection, after much consideration, I have decided to take the Kelly Johnson SP Authentic Letter Auto, and replace it with a Shairon Martis Letter Autograph!
I will also be including a Rafael Furcal GU for the next recipient!
Nice choice and nice add! I'm sure Greg will be pleased with the Furcal freebie as well! Please contact him and send this his way by Saturday w/ DC. The Chain rolls on my friends and is coming soon to a mailbox near you!
It seems that there have been some issues getting in contact with our next link in the chain so he has been bumped down to the bottom spot so Josh might be able to make the deadline on Saturday. Everyone else has been bumped up one spot which makes captkirk the next lucky link in The Chain! Kirk, if you have not already done so please PM Josh with your address.
Josh, please post in this thread with the DC when you send.
Everyone else stay tuned. The Chain is coming soon to a mailbox near you!
Issues in contacting me? I have been here and have 0 new messages. No one has tried to contact me. I sent JWman a message with my address as soon as the package was shipped to him over 10 days ago. I would like to know who tried to contact me because I have no messages from anyone regarding this. Thanks for bumping me to the bottom of the chain though.
PM coming.
Folks, I really enjoy threads like this one that
instill camaraderie among our members. My
enjoyment is only heightened by the remarkable
generosity, participation and esprit de corps

Understand this as well, I'll not have that
enjoyment stained by accusations or whining
(justified or not).
Marc has written a gem of giveaway thread.

Richard,
Thank you for your input and thank you for the kind words about the thread. I need to state that the participating members are what make this thread what it is. They have already met the call and expanded the boundaries beyond what I imagined could happen in a very short time. To the point where I'm scrambling to keep up.......my heads still spinning from some of the additions and the generosity shown. I might need some of your meds.
It is an honor to add you. Welcome to the party!!! The Chain is coming soon to a mailbox near you!
Folks, the 2nd place vote getter for TCC's 2010 Most Generous Member has just jumped in the pool. Grab hold of your trunks and hold tight to those boogie boards cause this ain't no wading pool anymore! Let's see what we can do to give back to someone who has given soooooooo much to this site!!!!
I've been meaning to ask, but when can folks jump back in? I'd love to give this another go-around.
Any update on where the package is at? I've got some nice cards that are waiting to take a tour of the country via a usps truck.
Folks, I apologize for the delay. School has been all over me lately.
Here is the DC# for Kirk!
The Kurt Warner is for you to keep!
USPS Track & Confirm for 420 20904 9101 7850 9140 1947 2061 63
The suspense is killing me!!! It's like waiting on Christmas!!! lol
Josh,
No worries. I know what ya mean about school. Just went through midterms last week and have to work on research papers this week, No spring break for me. Thanks for updating us.
Folks,
In order to prevent confusion in the future, I would appreciate if everyone can PM me your address. I will catalog them and be responsible for making sure it gets to the person who's on the clock. In addition, it will help with mystery gift contests since I will already have the address. If you should change residence, all you have to do is PM me and let me know.
Thanks,
Marc
Sam,
When the package makes it back to me, I will randomize the list of participants, add another card for each category, and it will make its way back around. If you're interested in making donations (and this can be anyone), you can PM me and we'll work out some extra contests within the thread, add them to the package when it gets back to me, or try to coordinate arrival with one of our lucky links so it can be added to the package.
Marc
Double mangos batman!

Marc,
I will forward my address after I post this.
Folks, when my turn comes around, I intend
to add U-G-L-Y to the chain.
I consider this, one of, if not the finest, threads
ever created on this fine site. As I have stated
earlier, it inspires me to read the posts and thrills
that it brings our members.

I full heartedly agree with Richard! This is the best thread I have seen on TCC in a very long time (if not ever!) The concept alone is the true spirit of what TCC is all about!
As much as I would love to jump into this fray, I will sit out for the time being due to my current location! However, if Marc would be so kind as to shoot me his address, I will send some items to be given away at random!
Also, I noticed back earlier in the thread that there was some discussion about how to keep up with the rounds. I have an idea!
Once a round is done, post the entire rounds results as a regular post at the end of the thread. Put a link, such as Round 1 , that takes you to that post and keep the most recent round on the first page. This will keep eveyone current as well as keep historical information avaiable!
WELL DONE MARC......TRULY A JOB WELL DONE!
-Sarge
Holy smokes there's been a lot of activity since I last logged on. I guess it's true what Mom always said: A watched pot never boils.
Sarge, that's a great idea! I think we have a solution!
Richard and Shawn,
I'm glad you two like the thread! The both of you were part of the inspiration behind it. I think we owe both of you a big thanks for everything you do for our site.

It's time for another Chain contest!

Well....all you have to do is answer this question. It might be a tough one that only the perpetrator of the random act of kindness I am about to describe can answer, but we'll see.
A few years ago I had a run of bad luck and was gone from this site for quite some time. Upon my return, this member surprised me with a 1999 Just Rick Ankiel AU. I still don't know how he got my address!!!!
Who was this kind member???
Think hard because there are so many on our site who are capable and willing of such a fine act. The answer isn't too surprising.
i ma gaking a guess and saying Richard RGBII
j5
Who was this kind member???
I'll go with Richard, RGB
heheh sorry mango face
j5555
I can see as the chain gets bigger and bigger and into later rounds the already tough decisions will be made a little tougher. I hope my replacements can be worthy of what is already going around.
Not in this instance, but certainly a worthy guess!
nopt bad mango face
j5
Aye, some tough decisions indeed! I'm sure your replacements will hold up to the test. Take what you want and give what you can.
In the meantime, watch it grow!!!!!
Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia Chain!
I'll guess Mr Bob RoadRunner 264.
I will guess Acee
Nope, not Bob, but another worthy guess!
Ehhhhh.....Whats up Doc?
It was that Wask-iwy Wabbit waddant it?
Not Acee, but once again, very good guess.
OK folks, the usual suspects are off the board. Keep those guesses coming!
How about some theme music for this fine thread?

Great song and perhaps what this thread needed! Thank you for the addition. This is going to the main post so all can find it easily and listen while they participate.

Love that lyric, let's live up to the music.
Not a lot to ask, can we do this Hard?

i can definately say that this is an amazing thread, yes indeed.
I'm thinkin' "WestCoastSkinsFan."
In the unlikely event that I guessed correctly.

Nope, not Sam; although another very good guess.
Zimbow maybe?
ooooooo.....good one, but not correct.
Hint #1:
In his blog, this member credits the generosity of TCC members for contributing a good number of cards to his own PC and never asking anything from him in return.

Joe,
Congratulations! You're our next lucky winner!
Wow things have been busy while I was away... 2 weeks down but back into the saddle...
Keep up the good work folks...
The Chain Ninja has stalked the package to Silver Spring, Maryland.
My guess is Kirk will have the package tomorrow!!!!
!
Ok...it appears I'm a bit behind. I apologize. TK and Andy you're in!!!!
Adam,
Glad to see you back on the boards!
hey bro can i join the chain? if i can can you PM me when its my turn and stuff so i know ill be getting the package? and how do we get the adress of the other participants will you give it to us?
The Chain is Here in MD (Silver Spring) it arrived today Monday 21 March. Fortunately the package/box was small enough to fit in my Apt. sized Mailbox, I had visions of it being bigger and having to be held ransom overnight at the Post Office until I bailed it out with the "You've Got Mail" card they like to leave in my mailbox when stuff doesn't fit.
Oh Man this will take a little while to decide. I'm mostly sure what I will take and what I will replace it with. Just need to weigh my decision some more, and admire all the contents while I'm the caretaker of the Templar I mean TCC Treasure.
I think I will also add some more fun to the box. More on that later I'll try to make a scan of what I will be adding and post that sometime tomorrow night.
Sorry folks no scans tonight.
Tired will try tomorrow, or will just tell what things are.
The suspense is killing me!!!!!!!!!!! What will Kirk choose? Lou Groza? Bill Laimbeer? Campbell/ Rogers Dual AU? Stay tuned Chain fans. Same Chain time, same Chain channel!
Hi guys!
OK if you like it or not the decision has been made.
I'll mention some of the things that tempted me.
First off let me say it isn't easy. As the chain was clinking & clanking it's way across the country I had my eyes on a couple of potential grabs. If I was into Letterman's I probably would have snatched up the Shairon Martis (Nationals my team Yeah) but I'm tired of GUs and patches and was never a huge fan of the Lettermen's (Sorry those who are really into those).
I'm really really into vintage so the Lou Groza was screaming really loudly to me. Almost drowning out all other bids for my attention. I'm sure I could have found a suitable replacement in the vintage category to replace that one, but I wouldn't know where to begin or if I should use Football or Baseball for it.
The Will Clark '08 Threads insert was also sort of tempting since I have some of the base from that set, but I've never really had the desire to complete the set of that. Also I'm not sure which serial numbered inserts I've got that I could part with easily.
The ball? The ball is tempting but what memorabilia do I have that would equal it? I only have 2 baseballs and neither is a suitable replacement for an auto'd ball. One is a 1980s George Brett edition ball that I use to toss around in my 1980s nylon glove (I know I really should look for a vintage real leather one like I had when I was a kid.) The other ball I have I will not part with until I am well into my golden years it's one of those Charles O. Finley Orange Baseballs. Plus we should be careful about the size of memorabilia pieces we put in this package we don't want to raise the cost of shipping it around too much.
But I digress. Here is what I picked:
2005 Playoff Contenders RN-2 Jason Campbell and Carlos Rogers Dual Auto.
I am replacing it with:
2006-07 BAP Dual Signatures Patrice Bergeron and Phil Kessler Auto- Bruins (Adds Hockey to the mix)
To add some fun to the pot I add another Link to the Chain
I've added a Non-Sport Base category.
1986 Topps Garbage Pail Kids - 125b Woody Alan (Original from the 4th Series)
The Chain gang box moves on. I will try getting it too the post office in the morning (Thursday later today since I'm posting well after midnight Wednesday)
The original 80s Garbage Pail Kids ROCK!! Mom threw all mine out. Great choice with the Campbell/ Rogers dual and nice add with the Hockey dual!!!!! Another category has been added to The Chain!!!!! Something for the non-sport lovers or GPK enthusiasts.
Kirk,
Thanks for sharing a glimpse of the thought processes used when deciding what to take from and add to THE CHAIN.
PM coming with Greg's address. Please send with DC by Monday and post in this thread.

Gary,
Welcome to the party!!
Coming soon to a mailbox near you!
This just keeps getting better and better! I cant wait to see where this goes! A couple of cross country travels, but what about INTERNATIONAL? We shall see!
As soon as I can determine a way to track the package internationally, that may be a possibility. However, since one of the requirements is ship with DC, it makes it difficult.....unless UPS or FedEx offers international tracking. I don't have much experience with using either of these services. US bases abroad are the exception, of course, since they utilize the same postal system.
It looks like the package landed in Greg's mailbox yesterday. I can't wait for the next chapter to unfold!
I did receive the package yesterday, and will have my selection made and the package shipped tomorrow. I just need to get an address to send to.
I cracked up laughing when I opened the package. I was going through the cards and saw the Garbage Pail Kids card. I wasn't old enough when those were the thing, so I had never actually seen one in person. Neat card though.
I don't know what I'm taking yet, but I do know that I will be adding some nice stuff. How about a nice GU bat card from a 2-sport star and a 1/1 + rookie auto of one of the best WRs in the league...Find out exactly what they are tomorrow...
Brian,
Absolutely! I have both sent cards to and received cards from Sarge without any problem. In fact, it seemed delivery time was about the same or quicker in both instances.
GU bat from a 2-sport star hmmmm..........Who could it be??? Brian Jordan? Neon Deion? MJ???? My guess is Bo knows Bat cards........
I have to decided to take the Colby Rasmus Ball, and replaced it with an Official Ball from the 1996 World Series signed by Andruw Jones. And to spice things up a bit, I threw a Bo Jackson 2005 Donruss Champions GU Bat, a Roddy White 2008 Stadium Club Photographer's Proof 1/1 and a 2005 Finest X-fractor Auto /199 into the box.
had to scan the ball because my camera has no batteries, sorry if it looks wierd. Maybe the next person can take a better pic of it.
I also put in a few extra cards just for wvball. I wasn't sure what he likes, but I checked his list and found a few RC that he will hopefully enjoy.
WOW, very nice adds
Very nice adds indeed!!! Bo DOES know GU bats. I wonder if it's from one he broke over his knee...........cause that would just be awesome.
Greg,
I have PMed wvball's address to you. Please send by Saturday!
Congratulations!!!! That Rasmus ball is quite the prize. I'm still wondering how you managed to pass up the GPK card, though.
Wow this thing is getting intense...
This is growing and growing and growing..LOL Very nice...
Lets keep it up...
I know I'm still one spot away, but with all of the additions, can we re-categorize the cards now in the package, and can we, or should we let people pick 2 if they want? Maybe if you add a category, you can then trade in two cards instead of one...
Just a thought....
Uh oh, Garbage Pail Kids are in the mix!!!! I just found some of them from my youth a few weeks back. I used to love those things growing up.
i dont know if you saw my post that said i wanted to join but scratch that im too afraid im going to foget to send back the package or something like that. i dont want to be that guy lol
In order to keep it fair for the people who have already received and considering the freebies that are being added by our generous members, I think we should keep it at one card until the next round. In addition, the majority of the categories which have been added have been due to either a member perceiving that what they had to give wasn't enough so they added more or a member exhibiting the tremendous generosity that is characteristic of the TCC community. There are a lot more contests coming for the readers of this thread so stay tuned.
As for re-categorizing the contents in the package, I am always open to suggestions. In addition, this is our thread not my thread so if anyone has suggestions, please feel free to contribute.
Thank you for your input, Joe. I certainly appreciate it. I want to see this become the best thread on the web. I think we can do it with everyone's help!

thanks alot for allowing me to participate. this is fun and enjoyable. kinda is rekindling my love of trading again as i was getting burnt out.
Nice adds!
Very nice adds, and BTW, that Bill Laimbeer is a Vintage RC
The post office loves you all! Just messin.
I might get into this at some point.
Everytime I think this thread cannot get any better it steps up.. Whenever it gets around it will be a tough call for me on what to do
Looks like wvball has made a suggestion for updating the categories. Do we want to stick with this format? I have to admit I don't know much outside of baseball...and a little in the way of basketball....so I might need some help keeping these updated if we go with this format, but scans should make it much easier. Also, instead of other, I'd like to make it non-sports and have base, insert, AU, GU, and vintage. I wish I had done this originally.
Very nice adds Joe....I love the way all the members are helping this thread evolve!!! It's a great thing to watch. Was the 08 Threads Will Clark still in the package?
Looks like it's not too far away from you....and to make things tougher....you're directly behind Mr. Murray..... methinks you're a lucky, lucky man.
Tell y'all this . . .
When my turn comes around, I intend to add a
permanent shipping box, something that can be used
again and again.
The reasoning for that permanent container is this . . .
I will add full sets to this fine Chain.
Whoever is #21 on the list, be prepared for a trip
to the Post Office. This one ain't gonna fit in your
mailbox.
Thanks, Marc, once again for this very original and
enduring topic.

Hey anyone know who the WS ball is autographed by?
I am going to try to attach picture of all the circulation items.
Andruw Jones.
Soooooo.......I received a package from the very generous sasports yesterday which contained a plethora of nice freebies to give away.
Thanks Sarge!!!!!!
In an attempt to revive TCC Chat night on Thursdays, I'd like to incorporate this thread and the chatroom to hold contests for the wonderful prizes that Shawn donated.
I began this with the 65 Tony Kubek that I pulled from my collection. Only one person showed....RGBII. Once again, Richard has asked that I pass along this prize to another deserving member and I will be doing so.......but who is it going to be???? Keep an eye on your mailboxes....cause this will remain a mystery until the lucky winner posts.
Until then.....keep an eye on the TCC chatroom on Thursday nites....you never know when the will sneak in there and leave something for the awesome TCC community!
Just got the box....opening in a minute
While the Lou Groza Vintage card was extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemley tempting. I had to go with the Harvin Auto....
So I figured, I'll trade a Gator for a Gator, and included a numbered 2010 Topps Platinum Aaron Hernandez refractor Auotgraph.
I don't have a price guide so I also added a Dwayne Wade Topps Stadium Club Jersey Card and an Iron Man 2 Don Cheadle memorabilia Card....not pictured is a Topps Chrome 2010 Gridiron Lineage Tony Dorsett/LeSean McCoy card.
I will send out to the next person in the chain when I get the address....
Joe
cool. I hope you like it!
Well, there's always the other way around things. If you don't want to ship it, take it!
kinda forces your hand though and we are supposed to replace it with same type item so. I can see others point that it does get pricey
Guys, this thread is all about generosity. I wouldn't get too caught up in the price of shipping, or what MAY be, if it's at all possible. We don't even know what "set" means, btw. Is it a full insert set or something like a set Panini gave away for the Nationals?
Let's not jump to any conclusions or panic here. And frankly, if it really comes down to it, I'll help you off-set the price of shipping to keep things moving.
I say we just leave the thread like it is.
I think everyone expected that the number of items would grow, just based on the nature of the thread.
As far as I'm concerned, the only downside is that with the number of items to pick from, how do you only choose 1???
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This thread IS about generosity and keeping the love and pasison for cardboard (and memorabillia) alive! Lets not deaden the spirit of this thread by bickering about Shipping fees and what not.
If you have somthing produtive to add to the thread, by all means add it! But if you have somthing even remotley negative, do us all the favor and stick to PM's! Not to take away from your concerns, but some things are best left between you and the creator of this thread and should not be blasted publicly to start a debate.
'Nuff Said.
Yes, please feel free to PM me and I will attempt to address any concerns. I will say this. I spoke to Richard before he made the anouncement that he would be adding full sets to the chain. I can say that from what he and I discussed, it shouldn't have too much of an impact on the cost of shipping. Out of respect for Richard and wanting him to have the same chance as everyone else to surprise and excite us with what he adds when the time comes, this is all I can say about the nature of the sets he intends to include. Please rest assured that he and I both know that cost of shipping is a factor and I plan to have further discussion with him as his turn draws nearer.
As Shawn said, this thread is about the generosity of the TCC community. We have already shown what the great TCC community is capable of. You won't find another thread like this on any other site. Let's bring the excitement back!
No need to get wired about sets and shipping costs,
these are an addition to the chain. They are not
expected to be replaced if taken by the next in line.
As Marc has stated, this is all being taken care of via
correspondence between he and I. Try it sometimes,
it works wonders.
Collect Hard!,
RGBII
I will get the package out tomorrow....had some medical issues to take care of (ALL GOOD!!) yesterday and today....DC# post coming
Those who speak up always get chastised.... there is nothing wrong with debate and discussions in public.
If I had a personal problem with someone in the chain, now that would be PM material but my concernes dealt with the entire group.
Issues arise, people have questions and concerns, it's life, it happens and not everything "negative" belongs behind closed doors.
I wasn't questioning or putting down the idea, community or generosity behind this thing whatsoever! I asked to be part of it because it's a very cool and novel idea that has become something grand!
I was simply looking at the fact that I signed up for something I thought would have minimal effects on the mine and others wallets down the line. Someone here might be unemployed or in school and may not have the $11-$15 for medium to large flat rate box. I simply voiced a concern.
Now, that this issue has been beat to a pulp, I would also like to get back to what this is all about!
I made it to the post office today after all!
Here is the DC# 0310 1230 0001 5592 6286
The box is on its way to Illinois....
For those interested...it cost a total of $5.95 to ship including DC....
Sweet!
It looks like I'll have the weekend to decide!
Joe,
I hope everything is well with you and yours. Thanks for the update.
Gary,
I think you voiced a valid concern that may affect the entire group. It is one that I had already anticipated and I should have responded sooner to your post.
Brian,
Stay tuned. The Chain is coming soon to a mailbox near you!!!!!
I wonder what Brian will pick. I know whatever he decides to add will be something real purty.
So close yet so far away from my turn. Can't wait to become a link in the CHAIN!
The Chain has been spotted in the chat room. Everyone's turn is right around the corner.
Just to let everyone know, as of today's mail delivery, I have not received the package.
The DC shows it as being in Illinois, so I expect to get it Monday!
I have a sweet 1990 score 20 box case im going to add to the chain!!
Brian,
I seriously doubt anyone would have an issue with that. Go have fun at the meeting or at least get through it. LOL
I have opened up the box, & am plotting my decision.
I need to review which items are part of the formal chain, and which items are "open".
In addition, I will be adding a card for a new topic "Stupidest idea for a premium insert card."
I will post what it is, as well as a scan, later!
Heading out to see Scream 4 with the wife. Can't wait to see the update when I get back!
Well, I have made my decision.
I am going to take the Topps Platinum Aaron Hernandez auto for my Patriots PC!
As a replacement, I am going to add this:
In addition, to add another category, I am adding a 2008 Donruss Baseball Americana Lori Petty worn swatch. She played the younger of Gena Davis sister in "A League of Their Own".
We can call the category "Sports-related movie stuff"!
And here's my submission in the category of "Stupidest idea for a premium insert card"
2008 Topps Finest Certified Autograph card of.....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Topps Rip Girl Felicia!!!!
If no one has any objection, I propose a small modification to the rules...
In addition to the normal selection, you may also select the card from the "Stupidest idea for a premium insert card" category. However, if you do that, you MUST replace it with an even STUPIDER idea!
Fair enough??
Finally:
The package is going out to NewYorkStateOfMind tomorrow. I have his address on file (provided he hasn't moved recently!)
Also, there is a small package of extra stuff in there for him. I'll let him share what it is with the group.
How can you part with a Rip Girl Auto!?!?! haha
Enjoy the Hernandez...can't wait for the chain to come back around.....someday....LOL
DC 0310 2640 0001 3179 5943
I;m very sad to say this but I will have to drop out of this wonderful idea. I am afraid I would forget to check back every once in a while and therefore forget to send the package to the next in line.

THE CHAIN PACKAGE HAS ARRIVED!!
