The Official BKB Box Break Club - August 09

Introduction

Hey guys and gals, we're back and ready for another month. Last month, we had a decent month as the boxes weren't very kind to us. We plan to break some new stuff this month which looks pretty sweet. We might have a few spots opening up as Mike Lindegarde is taking a leave for a few months.

This months breaker

Boxes that we'll break
1. 2009-10 Sp Game Used
2. 2008-09 Spx
3. 2007-08 Spx
4. 2007-08 UD Artifacts

How it Works (Official Rules)

Each member pays $50 ($52 if paying via PayPal). That covers about $500 in boxes, shipping, and supplies. You get one team (you cannot take a team that has already been taken) of your choice. The remaining 20 teams go to the members via a draft. This gives you a total of three teams. Every single card pulled out of a box that has a player from one of your three teams goes to you. The box breaks are done via a video break, so there is no question as to what was pulled.

Fees are due by the 15th. The boxes are ordered and the draft begins as soon as all fees are collected. As soon as the draft completes and the boxes are in, the video breaks are done. The cards are then shipped out by the box breaker as soon as the results have been posted. We decide as a group what boxes to break each month.

I'd like to do 2009-10 Sp Game Used but it looks like it got pushed back. Any ideas on what you guys would like to break? I'm for doing some 2007-08 products as they are a little cheaper.

I would love to try 07-08 premier as it seem like that was usually loaded. if we didnt do that I would be open for anything as long as we kep the theme going of One higher end product each month. Maybe see what deals dacardworld and Blowout has. who else has any ideas

I found some images of the upcoming Same-Day rookie cards from Panini. I guess these cards are comparable to Topps Rookie Premier autographs. You can see the photos on my blog here:

I think these cards look great. It looks like Panini might deliver some good products to break in the coming months. I can't wait to see what they do for the high end products.

Hey guys, according to D&A's site SP Game Used has been pushed back to 8-19-09. I'd really like to do this product as it is supposed to be loaded. We had talked about 2007-08 Bowman Sterling a few months ago. I'm still game for doing it to get our Topps product in. I'm also game for 2008-09 Spx also. I'd like to do 2007-08 Premier, but it's still around $385/box.

with people having to drop out and this being hard to fill every month I think we should talk about having this be a bi monthly break. I think that would be the smartest way to go, with this being said lets get the last spot filled and get this break going.

I mentioned going every other month a little while back. That didn't seem to go over to well. If that did happen, then this group break would be back within my budget.

Sorry for not really being active in the thread this month guys but I've been really busy with vacation and getting back to work. If going to a Bi-Monthly break is what we need to then that's fine with me. I think that it will fit in everybody's budget better. Bob I'll mark you as paid. I hope you can still be included in the breaks Bob.

As for products this month, I'd really like to do a 2009-10 Sp Game Used box but it doesn't come out until August 25th. I'm all for 2007-08 Bowman Sterling or 2007-08, or 2008-09 Spx.

Plese lmk. what you all think.

Guys, after a lot of thought I think that we need to make this break a Bi-Monthly break as was stated in the thread earlier in the month. That would still leave the monthly fee at $52, but would be more affordable at $26/month for more members. I really appreciate you all taking extra spots but I believe that if this goes Bi-Monthly then we will be able to fill it and get more members involved. If you all agree, should we skip September and schedule the break for Oct-Nov. or make the next break Sept.-Oct break.

Matt, if you go bi-monthly, I can probably re-join. I would set it up to straddle Christmas / New Years. So have a December-January break. That way no-one has to spend the money in December when we all have others to buy gifts for.

Hey guys, with us busting 2009-10 Sp Game used I'd like to go over the rules of multiple hits again. There are a ton of multiple GU/Autos in this product so I want to make sure that everybody knows the rules if we have hit that has multiple players on it.

1. If a card is pulled of a player the card goes to the team that the player currently plays on. (Ex. if a Shaq card is pulled, it would go to the Cavs)
2. If a card is pulled of a free agent/European player then it goes to the last team that they played for.
3. If a card is pulled of a retired player then it goes to the team that is pictured on the card.
4. If a card is pulled that has multiple players on it then a owned team would get preference over a drafted team (Ex. If a card is pulled from this months break that has a D-Wade/Chris Paul Dual, then the owner of the Heat would get the card. This is because the heat are owned and the hornets were drafted.
5. If a card is pulled that has more than two players on it and one member has a majority of the teams owned that are on the card then they would receive it. (Ex. If a card is pulled with a Bird/Magic/Jordan/Lebron on it, then Booth9919 would get it this month.)
6. If a multiple player card is pulled and there is a tie between members on the number of teams owned then it will be randomized off on Random.org.

I know that people who purchased multiple slots did so to help out the group, but I want to make sure that people still get a few hits so the group still appeals to people to stay in. I'm just trying to be as fair as possible with this.

to keep people in, I say random.org for all those on the card but if booth gets 2 of the 4 his odds are better than some one with only one on the card..

If the teams on the card are the same then yes - it should go to majority(2 bulls 1 celtic would go to bulls). If the teams are from different teams then random based upon a weighted system. We should look at each spot purchased as though they were purchased individually.
