WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Weren't the value of baseball cards supposed to be diminished now that kids were collecting them on their iPhone and iPad's?

Apparently not.

The Cardboard Connection reports that a signed Bryce Harper baseball card has surfaced on eBay for a whopping $24,999, or also known as the same price as the new Mitsubishi Outlander.

Why is this particular item so valuable? Well in the nerdy card collector world, this card is apart of the Bowman Chrome Superfractor Series, the same type of card which sold a Stephen Strasburg model for just over $16,000.

My question: What do you do with the card once you've obtained it? Sleep in bed next to it every night? Take it to the movies? Expensive baseball card collectors have to be some of the strangest people on earth.

Also a real update on Bryce Harper. In five games the lefty is hitting .278 with 1 RBI, 1 steal, 2 walks and three strikeouts. He's yet to hit a home run.

I'm sorry, but $25,000 for any card made in the last 15 years is way too much.

Must be nice to have that kind of disposable income though.

For me. Any card printed in the last 75 yrs. I told my wife, now that I have a great job with pay I deserve. (At least that's what people tell me laugh.gif ) I can buy more vintage cards. I got that look again from her.
