To answer your question, yes you can send emails. Most athletes, actually almost all of them, prefer mail. Some college coaches, or athletes who own and operate a business that have an email available to public should be ok. For example, I emailed Scott Campbell (Steelers QB in the 80s) and Eric Crouch (Nebraska Heisman QB) through their company's website. Crouch actually prefers emails. Like the others posted before me, I utilize sportcollectors. To date, I have 53 requests; 40 of those have been successes. 4 different sports; HOFers, stars, commons, heisman winners, etc. People will also trade signed memorabilia with you. Hope this helps.
