Alright, I'm calling out to you baseball card collectors. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and based on interest ONLY (not sell value or book value), would you rather have a Jersey Card or a Bat Card. Personally I'd rather have a jersey card, I don't know why, but I prefer it. What do you prefer and why?

I always liked the idea of owning something the player wore... just my preference....

"Baseball players will take anything. If you had a pill that would guarantee a pitcher 20 wins but might take five years off his life, he'd take it" MLB pitcher Jim Bouton about drug use in the Major Leagues... quoted in 1969.

I vow to no longer purchase any product that features sticker autographs...

When I collected baseball, I enjoyed jersey cards due to the variety of colors. Knowing the bat pieces came from the inner portion of the bat never really excited me.

Today, I think the set would make the decision now. I love the piece of history bat cards, but that would be the only bat I card I would put over jersey cards.

I collect:
-Colt McCoy inserts/rookies/certain autographs
-A mix of other stuff

I went with jersey cards at least there are variations to them. Most bat cards look like the same thing. The only bat card I would take over a jersey were those bat barrels they did in Sweet Spot a few years back, those were neat with the players names on them from real bats. The other thing is with jerseys if the color is wrong you know it is not right, with bats I cannot be 100% sure that it came from a bat, a seat, the outfield fence, or a board at Home Depot? unsure.gif

I picked jersey just because I would rather look at a piece of a jersey rather than a piece of a bat! I decided to go real scientific on this explanation!

My vote is cast for jersey 90% of the time. There are a few variations/sets of bat cards I really like but overall it a jersey card...

Seems like the norm around here so I guess I lack original thinking..LOL

Plain white jersey or bat? I'll go with the bat - unless it's a pitcher.

Huh... I'd think the exact opposite. I would rather have a bat from a pitcher because I figure they are much more hard to come by.... especially an American League pitcher...

True. However, when you think of a power hitter, you think of his bat. When you think of a power pitcher, you don't - unless it's Carlos Zambrano. laugh.gif

Upper Deck should create a set with pieces of Gatorade Coolers that were smashed in a game by guys like Zambrano and Milton Bradley! That would be great!

Jersey card most of the time especially if you can tell it is from the team you like like red pinstipes on the reds or has a patch or stiching to it.
But i would like to own a bat nameplate or bat knob card too. And a bat knob well over any jersey card

i'd go with a jersey over a bat unless they did it like the- in the game hockey stick cards--they were pretty sick-shaved the logo's right off the stick.
just a plain piece of wood-not so attractive- cool.gif

This is the kind of thinking the industry lacks... I mean how much would Bobby Knight game thrown chair cards go for??? A bundle, I am telling you...
