QUOTE(Rabs @ Jan 30 2008, 06:56 PM)
Yeah kind of the same deal except the Rams were not undefeated and didn't have Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Bill Belicheck.  Different animal sadly.

No they had Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Marshall Faulk, and Mike Martz. I would take that offense any day. Its the addition of such an excellent defense that makes the Pats what they are.

As a Vikings fan, I remember when they went 15-1 in 1998, then choked in the NFC Championship (wide left, taking a knee ... Vikings fans know what I'm saying here). That game made the 15-1 regular season irrelevant for me.

Even though they lost, they still had one of the best seasons ever. We'll see if they can bounce back next year or that age will catch up with the team.

Just so everyone knows the patriots arent the first to win every regular season game and lose in the super bowl.
The baltimore colts did it and lost in the super bowl to I believe the jets but I may wrong on the team.

The patriots have done nothing that hasnt been before.
the DOLPHINS are the only ones with a perfect season!
GO DOLPHINS!
Peace!

Not quiet...you have to remember that Coach Nelson ran the Mavericks before handing over the reigns to Avery Johnson. Nelson knew that team inside/out. From the REGULAR season, the Warriors were the ONLY team to have a winning record against them before the playoffs.

The Mavericks lost in the 1st round....if the Patriots lost their 1st playoff game then I would say the two are similar, but that is far from the truth.

In my opinion, the most devastating loss ever. Moss was uninvolved and will likely make problems in the offseason, but those problems will be small compared to the aging defense (which was exposed in the Super Bowl), Asanti Samuel, who is again a free agent, and the cheating allegations which will be going on for the next few months. In my opinion, couldn't happen to a better guy - Bellichek.

A win on the other hand and they would have shown that knowing the other teams plays in the past didn't matter.

No doubt that they were one of the best teams ever, but this loss was HUGE (then again, we'll have to wait till next year to see if any of this is true).

Yeah true those guys were all great players. But the Pats D is not all that great. They couldn't stop the Giants when they needed to last night and they have a lot of old guys that aren't getting any better these days.

Yeah....I wonder what Brady thinks about that.

Now Plaxico would've looked like a doofus giving the Pats 42 points as Brady suggested. laugh.gif

The Colts were 13-1 that season. No team has ever lost the Super Bowl after an undefeated regular season.

It ranks right up there with the biggest chokes in sports history. So much so that it surely rivals the 2004 ALCS choke job by the Yankees.
