Collector Zone _ Everything Else _ Hurricane Irma...

Posted by: Ilovetheheat Sep 5 2017, 03:56 PM

The water line at my local Costco was 2.5 hours and a limit of 4 cases per buggy. Waited another 30 min or so to get gas... I suppose us in South Florida aren't taking any chances with Irma. DollarTree, Publix, Walmart, etc are all crazy today. Everyones already run out of water.

I have 17 month old daughter so my planning and strategy is a bit different now. Us men always have that macho personality but now that Im a family man, I leave nothing to chance.

Prayers to everyone in the Caribbean and in my neck of the woods.

We havent forgotten about your Houston but all our plans to help out are on hold until we Hurricane Irma passes by.

I know you mean that brother and I appreciate it! However, I have to humbly decline. Besides my wife and daughter I have additional responsibilities and people to look after... (Grandparents, inlaws, aunts, etc) In a perfect world we'd pack up and leave but the world isn't perfect... Alot of people need my wife's and I help..

Ive been busy purchasing food/supplies for a lot of folks who need help. (BTW, all big box stores are out of water today. Trucks should replenish during the night)

Also, preparing for the aftermath. (Chainsaws, machetes, garbage bags, etc)

Thanks for thinking of me. cool.gif

I live next to Tampa and everyone here is freaking out. The tracker shows the storm could demolish the area but I'm hoping it changes course somewhat. I'm not planning on evacuating since I'm not in a bad flood area, but I know a lot of people have evacuated on the east side of the state.

Praying for everyone in its path!

I was literally on empty in my car and my gas light was on while I was driving around for 30 minutes and finally found gas. Just lucked out but people are freaking out about this thing and it's still at least 3 days away. I'm sure it's largely due to how bad Harvey was.

Weather normally doesnt bother me but somethign dosent feel right about this storm. After going through Matthew last year (we are still feeling its effects), this storm seems much scarier. That coupled with what happened in Texas with Harvey, I have been keeping a very close eye on this storm. As of a few hours ago, we have been placed under a State of Emergency and most all areas around us are mandatory evacuation. But with the evacuees from Florida already trying to outrun the storm, the roads are crazy and dangerous.

We will be staying here in Coastal GA and waiting this one out. If anyone nearby needs anything please let me know. Be safe, and remember, the storm is only half the fight. The idiots during and after are what is going to make this so dangerous.

My work just announced they will be closed Friday to Sunday and possibly later. Wise decision. Only a few days away now.

Power is still spotty here. No internet or cable. (using my inlaws)

Just today i saw NO meat, dairy, bread, produce or frozen products at walmart or winndixie.

Feeling blessed nonetheless. If the eye would have hit us... We'd be screwed.
