THe only problem I see with the card collecting hobby is this: The manufacturers are pricing the base of the industry, THE KIDS, out of the ability to collect. I am 30 years old and collect and just yesterday I went to a 30 table show, and 4 shops and you know what I got? NUTTIN!! Any card that I liked enough to buy, or box I was looking at was just to high. I have a 4 year old, who is still a little young to collect but interested and you think if I wont pull the trigger on a box or single because of price you think hes going to be able to buy anything? Where does he get his $?? uhhhh, ME!!!! You have to be willing to spend quite a bit of cash to collect nowadays and Im not sure what percentage of the kids these days have a couple hundred bucks every month or two to really collect. I venture to say not many. I started thinking about this at the show yesterday as I was looking at cards salivating about what I wanted and then asking for price after price and realizing that there are more important things like bills and groceries that I just couldnt forfeit to spend 225 on a manning auto card or 300 on a mario williams/ reggie bush dual auto. (300 was half book even!!!!) like to hear anyone elses thoughts on this.
