The visual spectacle of the movie is as good as advertised. It begs to be seen on the big screen in 3D. I was completely immersed in the world of Pandora from start to finish. However, the story really prevents it from being a great movie. The characters are one-dimensional and the plot contains environmental and political messages that are a little too on-the-nose (i.e. the natives are literally connected to nature and references to "shock and awe"). There are some potentially interesting themes such as the internal struggle of someone living in 2 bodies, one crippled and one not human, but these are glossed over. It's worth the price of admission, but I did not have the same emotional reaction to this movie as I did with District 9.

Armored
Just a meh movie. I had high hopes for this movie. But it feel short.
Only gets a 6/10 from me
A Dangerous Man. Yes i know its not yet but it was leaked to the internet.
Was a decent movie. Nothing really special. Steven seagal just beat the crap out of like everyone.
Gets a 7.5/10

I do not trading/sell or buy cards at this time

Worth it to see it in the theater due to the effects. $10 Saturday night...no...but afternoon matinee yes.

Saw Sherlock Holmes and Daybreakers, both were pretty decent, but more or less great renters.

I feel the same way about both. Rentals or matinees. Sherlock Holmes was fun it parts, but the side characters were not very interesting and the villain disappears for awhile in the middle of the movie. Daybreakers has some interesting twists on vampires and their lifestyle, but as an allegory for energy policy it doesn't really make sense in the end.

I recently saw the movie Big Fan with Patton Oswalt, it was a very well written/acted movie. Not to mention a sort of coming out movie for Patton Oswalt who is usually a very funny actor. This was more of a serious role for him

How to Train Your Dragon

thumbsup.gif

Very fun movie. It follows a very generic plot, but almost everything else about it is done well. The main human character designs are kind of bland, but the dragon animations are awesome. The flying sequences, especially in 3D, are probably better than in any other movie, including Avatar. Great score too.
