QUOTE(pavi39 @ Aug 27 2010, 10:42 AM) I didn't really get the just of it from the little I watched of the Packer/Colt preseason game last night. Most of the first quarter they had the picture from the game and the sound from Wipeout. It was quite distracting. Anyways - my understanding is that the quarterback cannot hike the ball until the referee who put the ball down is beyond the furthest player in the backfield. Generally the running back or quarterback in a shotgun. The Colts were trying to run a no huddle offense and were called a few times for an illegal snap because the referee didn't get back quick enough. Did anyone else see or hear of this new rule? I think it will slow the game a little bit and could take some precious time away from a team doing a 2 minute drill. I don't understand, they want to make the game go quicker, but only at their convenience. Now we have to wait for the ref to get into position? Add an extra backfield ref, you morons! And if it's the case of waiting for the ref then they CANNOT start the clock until the ref is in place. This feels like a setup for someone to get paid by altering a close outcome. I'm sorry, but this rule is backasswards. And they thought taking away TD celebrations would speed up the game.
