Here's the thread for the February 2008 OFFICIAL TCC Baseball Group Box Break.

Here is a list of teams and the members who held them in the January
I will make adjustments to this list if teams change, and as people verify with me that they want to be in the February break, and as they pay for their teams.

Those who participated last month have first dibs at renewing their team purchase or choosing another team. So, if you participated in the January break, let me know what you would like to do.

Here are the rules:

Cost: $30--this covers the cost of the boxes and the shipping and supply costs.

The boxes we break will depend on member input and how much money we get. The more members, the more money, the more boxes (or the more higher end the boxes can be).

You can buy as many teams as you want, the first is $30 and each additional team is $25.

How the remaining teams will be distributed will depend on the number of teams left. Once that is determined we can discuss again how those teams will be distributed.

Here are some "decision rules," so there is no confusion.

If a card features more than one player from different teams, then there will be a random drawing between the the owners of the teams featured on the card, using a random drawing. The owner who is chosen by the random drawing will receive the card.

If a card features a player in a different jersey than the team labels on the card, the card will go to the team of the jersey the player is in.

Game used and auto cards from teams who are not chosen during a particular month will be randomly awarded amongst all members of the break, based on a random drawing with members who have gotten more hits in the break getting less chances in the drawing.

The rest of the cards that are from teams who are not chosen during a particular month will be randomly distributed amongst all participants in the break.

I just got back from the card shop and he had contenders and the cards looked nice.

I think dd316 is going to drop out this month, which leaves us 22 teams purchased if pavi39 verifies he is going to participate. That would give us $550 plus the $25 from last month so $575 total.

I've seen two suggestions, do any of you other members have any suggestions for boxes, given that budget?

Thanks for updating me guys.

That gives us 23 teams, so that gives us a budget of $575 plus the $25 from last month, makes it $600. If Kleinchester joins that would give us $625 for the month, which would make it one of our bigger months budget wise.

I've got a pm to Shawn in regards to the two suggestions that have been made so far.

Feel free to throw suggestions at me as to what you think we can put together for $600-$625. I'll try to do some research this afternoon.

I am cool with 08 finest. We got a few ok cards out of it. It seems like a few ppl would like to do contenders. The price I posted was a weekend price on blowout. I think it is 122 now.

Also I think we should try to do some A&G and/or Diamond Kings for Richard and Jeremy. Give them some help with there sets. Plus Richard has been that happy with alot of the boxes that we have been busting. I know every likes bust boxes that the don't have the money for but most of them boxes are heavy on yankees and 09 is going to even heavier since yankees are trying to buy an allstar team.

It's just the Sterling is the most over-designed,
gimmicky trash that I have ever witnessed from
a foil pack.

I second the opinion on No Bowman. All those flashy chrome Mirror cards are IMO too tacky. Plus they never scan well.

I was shocked when I seen what came out. As far as what we break and am content with what ever. I am not that big on a few boxes that we have broke because they favor a few teams and cut out the lower end teams like Washington, Ranger and the Pirates. I wouldn't think that UD 09 wouldn't really have any pirate hits since Bay went to the Redsox and Nady went to the Yankees.

If Kleinchester joins we could do the first set no problem. Obviously, the second set can be added to, since it doesn't come to the total of $600 or $625 depending on what Kleinchester wants to do.


I also would prefer no Bowman products this time. I appreciate the knod on Diamond Kings, but Shawn's sending me three boxes of that just for me, so don't worry about that.


So, what's your thoughts on the boxes listed above? Do we want to throw in an older product somewhere, maybe something from DLP???

the only other product that was posted that is in any of the choices is 08 finest by Canucksfan1812. Which I am all for but I not sure where we could get it (not sure if Shaun has any). The redemptions are still good for about 2 months. No one else really wanted to do.

I would prefer to do #2 the most of it. If one of the new ppl drop out then I would have to go with #4 with Prime cuts as a sub for Premier. Not a big fan of the fake patches but I have got a few nice cards from it and it right at 625.

Everyone,

Sorry for the delay. The company I work for was acquired on 1/15/09. Luckily, I was offered a job (not everyone was). However, I've been heavily involved in the integration of the 2 companies - resulting in work days of 14 hours or more for the last month. Today is the first time that I've felt like there's a light at the end of the tunnel and am actually able to spend time on TCC as opposed to working.

I've had something come up with the wife (nothing serious), but I can't do the break at 7pm CST.

I can either do it at 6pm, which is in the next 30 minutes, or we'll have to wait until another day.

If I do it earlier, I'll still do it on UStream and I'll save the videos, it's just whatever you guys want to do.

Hey Jeremy. When are you going to start the topic for next month. I am not going to take the astros next month just pick them up this month to help the group out...not that it help the "Group" out. Also by the way I didn't pick the boxes out I looked over every ones post and put together choice by what ppl in the group liked to try. All I was doing was trying to help the group get moving. I not sure what the group wants to do the yankees start off cold when the group started and not that they are hot it seems like everyone wants to chop up all the hit for all the other teams. 08 contenders was bad...I thought it would be nice to do but every product has bad boxes.

I say C'est la vie....The Yankees have been hot lately and Blackjack has run with them since the beginning. I don't believe it necessitates a change. Who knows, maybe the Cubs will got hot one of these breaks

I don't think anyone is mad at you Blackjack. I know I'm not. I'm simply frustrated at the card companies. The Contenders box was horrible. Every pack in the box had multiple dupes. The autos were less than spectacular. The collation of the whole break was horrible. Triple Threads made me really angry. Both hits from the Yankees. Sweet Spot all hits from Yankees or Twins. It just gets ridiculous after a while. I think we need to go back to doing all 2005 DLP products!!! LOL!!!!

I not really saying that ppl are mad at me...I know that someone made the comment about that I pick the boxes. I understand the breaks have bad for the other teams, I wish I could do something about it. Thats one of the reasons I got the Box of UD X in December, That way some of the low end team have a better chance at hits but the all the hits went to Bob. Which was nice since he is one of the members that have not had much luck. If it was for the yankees hits I would be to far ahead of bob. You and Ted have had the worse luck. I think Ted has got one nice patch card and you got the Vlad auto. 09 Finest come out next mouth and they have lettermen autos this year but I could check the list to see what team the auto are of. I am always a fan of finest but I would ask the group to do it...I still working on 07 and 08 . 05 products are fine. Its just the Team in 05 are all out of wack compare to how they are now I know the rangers only have 2 (3 if you count Kinsler as a prospect) ppl that are still on the team that was on the team in 05. But I am cool with what ever
