Hi guys. It's Football Season again and time to get our September break planned! I am posting the team assignments that I am aware of so if you participated last month but want to add, drop, or change a team please let me know asap so I can keep the list accurate.

The cost remains the same at $115 to claim a team and of course you get every card pulled from your team. All boxes will broke on Youtube. The proposed product list is listed below and as always is subject to change based on product availability and final participant count;

I know...just trying to keep each year represented well enough. If we can come close to a 3rd 06NT box I'm willing to take out 2-3 boxes of LL if that gets us there (if other people don't mind the possibility of maybe no case hit)

I agree, I feel the same way I did last when the 08 Premier was purposed. I would rather have the main cases be of product I cant buy on my own, 07LL is around 80-90 a pack. A case of 06NT was around 1325 last week and I think if we can add that to a 08EX case we would have a good mix, the rest on 07LL. We only had 1 pack of 06 anything last month and next month 09 will start to enter the picture(Black,Absolute,Sterling) plus I think its safe to say 07LL will always be available and 06NT could not be due price or running out like 07NT.

while i don't like to complain, i do agree with them. whatever chris decides is super with me but i really prefer to have more NT and EXQ than Leaf Limited. just my humble opinion.

The problem is...there is nothing high end left for 07 besides Exquisite. Since we still have to attempt to keep the three years even, Chris has to choose something from 07, and Limited has been good to us historically. Personally, I do not mind Chris breaking a middle-end product when the circumstances dictate.

I value the feedback guys...while I agree with you to a point I also am thinking exactly what Faulkrules states above. I would like to try to keep each of the last few years represented and for 07 it's pretty "limited" as to what high end products are out there. Rather than going with Exquisite each month for that year I figured we need to alternate it with another semi-high end product. That still allows us a chance to add 06 in the mix although when 09 products start to hit the market we'll have to see how to even the budget out to represent each year. It doesn't have to be even as it certainly won't this month with 08 taking $1450 or whatever Exquisite will cost and the LL is $900 and 06 another $750 or so if we can cover that much...but I feel pretty strongly that 07-08-09 should remain in the mix. Lastly I guess I'd point out that this group actually started with 07LL as our main product for 3 months or so...so we weren't always an ultra-high end group. Again, I agree that it should be mostly high end stuff that we may not normally buy on our own but I don't think we should ever restrict ourselves to only those two or 3 (maybe including Black this year?) products. That's my .02 anyway.

Believe me, I want Maroney Mojo BADLY. But my opinion is the group should stay breaking 3 years at a time. 2006 has run its course. Next year 2007 will be gone, good bye AP mojo. We have to change with the times to keep making it fair for every team collector.

Barrow I cannot agree with you more. Times do change. Rookie classes change. We need to change with them. I am so excited about NFL Black coming out next month! We need to get this product in on some of the breaks.

I am in agreement as well. With the release of Black and then 09 NT and Exquisite later on we will need to focus on 07-08-09 products. Even those we will have to start being open to doing half-cases as 3 cases of 07Exq, 08NT, and 09 Black will run too expensive. Ideally we spend around $900-1,000 for each year (give or take based on how many participants we have) so we'll have to see when we get to that point. Hopefully the 09 addition might lure a couple other people to take on a team or two to help our product list grow?

Just one more note on the multi-player hits. We had decided that we would continue with the current format of awarding the card to the team owner of the player either on top or on the left of the card unless of course a particular team is represented more than any other on the card. However, I don't think we addressed the multiple team ownership angle. If a card has 3 different teams on it but one collector happens to own 2 out of the 3 teams pictured...does that trump the positioning on the card? I believe it should however I'd like to hear opinions on that. I still believe multiple players from the same team should outweigh when a person owns multiple teams but if team representation on the card is equal I think we should go with the collector who owns the most teams represented as opposed to strictly positioning on the card. Does that make sense? Let me know what you think?

With 22 teams taken we will need to see what we generate from putting the 10 unclaimed teams up for silent bid but it's not looking good to add the 2nd box of 06NT. If we average $50 per unclaimed team we will cover the first 06NT box plus have $90 left over for an alternate box. To generate enough for the two boxes we need to either get a couple more slots filled or average $73 per unclaimed team which is pretty unrealistic to get. I just wanted to keep everybody informed of where we are with that.

It may also be because there are not a lot of collectors, particularly in this economy, who are willing to pay $115 for a chance at probably one or two "hits", particularly with the most popular teams already claimed.

By design, this is a specialized break, aimed at those who are interested in very high end product & are willing to run the risk of being shut out.

For example, last month, 11 teams did not get a single hit (12 if you include an expired redemption) , including 3 on the unclaimed list for this month. Of the rest, 5 only received a single hit (& some of those were of rookies who are already out of the league).

I personally believe that there may not be enough collectors who are in the target market for this kind of break. (This also goes for the Absolute Memorabilia break Chris is also running) For those who are, it is a terrific group break, as it has a variety of years.

This is not intended as criticism. It's just my opinion as to why the break doesn't fill up.

I agree with you to a point Brian. I think the economy is part of it but we were up to our high of 29 teams only about 6 months ago when things were already pretty rough financially speaking. I agree that with the high end break people are taking more of a chance at a huge hit while adding the bigger risk of getting shut out all together. But let's face it...none of us like getting shut out and that's why I am a proponant of the mix of 2/3 ultra high end products like Exquisite or NT but then adding in a mix of a "normal high end" product such as Premier or 07LL where it's $80-120 per pack as at least then hardly anybody would get shut out yet the bulk of the funds still go towards the potential to strike it big with the ultra-high end stuff. The public opinion has been against that as the majority have voiced that they would rather see all Exquisite/NT even if that does mean occassionally getting shut out. While I don't necessarily agree...I've always said I would try to listen to what you guys want so we may need to look at going back to that format much like the original Exquisite Club which was the genesis for this group.

I think this is what you're suggesting:

1st. Multiple players on the same team gets the card.
2nd. Owner of multiple teams on the card gets the card.
3rd. If no mutiple teams or players, the top and/or most left rule gets the card.

Ok folks we may as well get started on the silent bids for our unclaimed teams. The rules are that you must be a current member of this months break to submit a bid. The minimum bid will be $40 and if by the deadline we don't receive any bids on a particular team we will put it out to the rest of TCC if someone wants to take them for the $40 minimum. You may bid starting immediately and the deadline will be Thursday at 8pm(ct). Please submit bids to me via PM or email. The winning bid will be no more than $5 over the runner up bid amount. For example if your bid is $80 and the next highest bid is $55 then you win that team for $60. Here are the available teams;

We stuck to just NT for so many months in the beginning of the year and those had great participation. Then it was decided that NT07 was to predictable and dropped. We never had a bad all NT break to cause the switch to other products, the choice was made to have something different.

Exquisite is not suited to group breaks due to the tier 1, tier 2 rookie system UD uses, the guarantee of 2 tier 2 rookie jumbo patches and only one tier one per sealed case really impacts how many people leave happy after a case of EX. The one jumbo rookie and current/HOF auto card are the only two slots in a pack that can produce a big hit. Take out the 2 $40 tier 2 rookies and thats 4 possible big hits in each case for $1000. 08EX is a little better with the gold card.

More people leave happy from NT because of all the nice patches and logos that come from the just relic cards. NT advertises 3 Autos and 3 relics that might be auto'd, throw out the junk rookie auto, 2 autos and 3 relics. You might get a hit in EX, but it won't make your break





I don't think every pack of NT is solid gold, but when your selling the possibility of hitting cards it offers more chances per pack/dollar spent.

09 Black needs to have some pretty nice pulls for the $200 a pack, having rookies in college uni's and the flag patches I'd like to see someone else open it first. I think 09 Absolute would be a great product, this probably has the best mix of rookie/current hits with a touch of HOF. At around 25-30 a hit it would spread the hits around and with the pack config:

Pack 1: Autograph
Pack 2: Rookie Premiere Material
Pack 3: Combo/Triple/Quad/Jumbo or Prime
Pack 4 Mix

The Rookie Material card is the 3 relic that spells NFL and might be auto'd, sometimes the Auto is a high number bench warmer but with only one guaranteed per pack the whole set is not watered down with them.

I think 09Aboslute as filler with a rotating case of 08NT/08EX would be fun and might fill better.

I'm obviously open to 09 Absolute since I just tried to do a case break of it but the only point I will disagree with is that 07NT was dropped not because of any predictability or even by choice but it was dropped because the product availability dried up. You couldn't find this case all of a sudden and in the extreme rare cases you did it had gone from $230 a box to $430 a box and that makes it tough to pull the trigger! I'd love to continue doing 07NT if it was an option but I'm not sure that it is.

I wasn't suggesting 07NT just saying why I think participation dropped off and that the best real solution was 09Abosolute because of the chance at jumbo/prime hits for the cost.




Can you explain why? 1 on 1 an Exquisite Tier 1 players rookie card will sell for more after market but at a cost of $1000 per card for 07(or 1400ish for 08) I cant see that as giving the set as a whole more value, it gives that single card class, Jumbo Tier 1 rookie added value.

Based on my experience among cases and multiple ones I have seen cracked, usually the bang for your buck is Exquisite.

Just picked Dan Marino at Random and numbered to 13 three color NT sold for less than numbered to 13 one color Exquisite, and I just picked a random player without knowing.

With the sale of our unclaimed teams we ended up well short of our 2nd NT box but did cover the first one and we had enough left over for a box of 2008 UD Premier so that will be our filler box this month. I updated the product list.

ok, but what did you have to spend to get that card out of EX as opposed to NT? In a case of EX there are 3 possible cards that will be a HOF/Current player, 1 in each pack. In a pack of NT there are 2 maybe 3 possible slots for Hof patch/Auto to occur, so naturaly the rarer marino would sell for more, but what did you spend to get it. I just think NT has a better shot at making more people happy, thank you for replying, I dont think your wrong, It's nice to have different opinions as long as we explain them.

Now to go boooo! the giants for 3 hours, only to cheer for them later tonight.

i will weigh in. BOTH are cool. if you are looking for sell value, though, exquisite is clearly the winner. if you are looking for cool assortment of HOF and current autos, NT has an edge. i think, personally, that exquisite has more wow value, but for collecting, NT is much better.

so i am sure that everyone is in breaks for different reasons. some are looking to flip cards for a profit. others are looking to fill up a PC. which brand you like depends on your intentions.

Thanks again to all for participating! Some great cards but also some people that didn't fare to well. As with most breaks it's hit or miss but at least bwhen it's high end and you hit a good month you really hit a good month! Jaxx, Bob Koning, Yzerisdaman, NLR4434 all had pretty good breaks so congrats to you and all the others that got something they wanted!

Sorry...trying to get time to do that in the next day or two. I have a pretty good idea it will be mostly exquisite as it's due up in the rotation for both the 07 and 08 product. The mystery is what to do for 09 if anything. We could look at Absolute Memorabilia since Black won't be released in time. Otherwise we could skip it for one more month and go with 06NT with any left over after the 2 Exquisite cases?

Exquisite with a splash of NT works for me!

Although, I have seen a bunch of nice stuff coming out of 09 Absolute (I've seen about 40 boxes of it opened so far at a local card shop). It definitely seems a lot stronger than it was in 08. Just my opinion of course.

Exquisite and NT sounds good to me. Not a hugh fan of the 09 Absolute. I think the sticker autos look a little cheap and I saw a few cases opened with nothing but regular patches. Not a single special hit. Just my opinion, but I'm good with whatever the group decides.

Sorry I need to correct myself as it would actually be 08NT since we did Exquisite this past month. So 07Exq, 08NT and then we'll see between 09Absolute or 06NT depending on how much is left based on participation. As for going all 09, we could do a seperate case break of something but I think this group should continue to do a range of years so more teams are well represented.

ARplatium curses in his videos so i can't link to them , but you know how to find him, the 15 and 16 minute videos from 6 days ago are packed with good cards but the 21 minute video from 4 days ago has 9 boxes that he refers to as bad.

I would like to link to the 21 minute video to show you that even with a " bad break" in our format a lot teams would still get cards and many more people would have something to show.

This is by far the best set i have ever seen and at 30 a random hit the value is insane.

we paid over 1300 for that box of EX last month how many people are happy with that?
